Dear Mmoes, it may not have been your intention, but your recent edit to Reid Stowe not only added back in the Prison section, but also added some highly defamatory comments to the first sentence, as you can see here. This is not acceptable. If you add the section back in, please do not put it at the top, as it is not a significant item in comparison to the context of the article. Such items should be towards the end. Also you might wish to review the biography of living persons policy for clarity about adding material to biographies. Thanks, ArielGold 23:19, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The addition of the statement that Reid is a fucking idiot was unintentional. A artifact from a previous edit by someone else. His time in prison is quite significant. He as been conning sponsors to pay for his trip for years now, trading on his good name. More information will be coming regarding unpaid child support... Tax evasion, and environmental crimes in the near future. Mmoes 23:59, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I figured it was not intentional. I have tried to find online sources that even refer to his time in prison (I do not know this person, I ran across the article on recent changes patrol) and have not been successful in finding so much as a single reference to it in any news archives search. Until a reference is found, the reason why he was arrested cannot be included, and I'll hide it in a comment to explain that. This is specific per WP:BLP, and nothing personal against you or whoever added the section. It is just that saying why someone was arrested without a verifiable source to back it up, can't be done in biographies, the reference lists the time in jail, but that is all. Hope you understand. Also, if you plan on adding negative information as you said above, (unpaid child support, etc.) I urge you to thoroughly review the policy about such things, as Wikipedia takes that policy extremely seriously, and unsourced negative information will be removed. (P.S. Please remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes, (~) )Cheers! ArielGold 23:48, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok... I am fairly new to doing in depth editing of pages... I have only anonymously made a few minor changes to pages previously. I intend to find government sources for the information that I intend to post to his entry. Right now I have access to some files that cover the issues but nothing that is easily cite able through the web... Imagine that in this day and age.... But it is a lot more difficult to find references to public records that I would have imagined. Mmoes 23:58, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I've run into that issue before too. And with historical articles, that's not such a big deal, with living people, Wikipedia does have to be more careful, and not open itself up to libel issues, as I'm sure you can understand. Basically, nearly any fact in a biographical article should be cited, (citations are placed at the end of a sentence, immediately following a period with no space between the period and <ref> tag, I've fixed all of the refs in the article to follow this). So, while these items may all be true, they can't be added without the citations, which does bring a challenge, admittedly. I appreciate that you understand and respect these policies, and that you're willing to discuss them. That's such a joy to find, when I'm used to doing vandalism patrol, you can imagine what the reception is lol. Thanks again, and don't hesitate to contact me if you ever have any questions! More info on Reids Arrest... More coming. They spelled his middle name wrong the 1st time as Reice. Arrested at 450 Broome Street #2F December 10 1991 in New York. They remanded him to Bayon Maine December 20 1991. New York dropped the case and gave it to Maine January 9 1992. James F Glauner 111 was the special agent in charge; Interesting note of fact, he(Glauner) is now the head of the DEA. The warrent for his arrest was issued September 19 1991 in Bagor ME. Other participants were David M Munsell and Fred James Trombley. 91 Mag 2365 Reid had to post a $150.000.00 bond and surrender his passport. Marc Cohen and 2nd wife Anne France Piedfer were given custody of him and his father put up his house in North Carolina as surety bond... Reid was able to plea bargain and testified against Munsell and Trombley. More information to follow this matter and other criminal matters. ________________________________________________________ U.S. District Court District of Maine (Bangor) CRIMINAL DOCKET FOR CASE #: 1:91-cr-00082-MAB All Defendants

Reid Stowe: Prison section

[edit]

Hi Mmoes,

I've made reference to your talk page here; in all fairness, you should have the opportunity to comment as you see fit, since you've done some leg-work. Also in fairness, I should remark that I, for one, would resist any mention of Mr Stowe's prison vacation until such time that reliable secondary sources may be obtained that shed light on it, for reasons that I hope I have made clear in my comment. Welcome to Wikipedia, and all that; I look forward to your contributions. Gosgood 02:01, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
