Welcome!

Hello, MlaneNYIT, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

From the message on your user page, it appears that you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or any other editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One firm rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! —DoRD (talk) 15:06, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

Request reason:

Blocked due to shared IP address. I have not violated any rules. Request unblock.

Accept reason:

Per below. —DoRD (talk) 15:05, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

Checkusers check more than just IPs, and in any case only checkusers can assess a checkuser block as it's based on information admins can't have access to per the Foundation's privacy policy. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 00:59, 6 March 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, what is the appeal process in that case?MlaneNYIT (talk) 15:26, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

{{Checkuser needed}} I'm going to contact @DoRD: as well to see if we can get some more insight here. only (talk) 15:32, 8 March 2014 (UTC)

Block review

Hello MlaneNYIT. Please make certain that your work email address is active in your preference settings, then send me a quick message via this link. Once I receive your message, I will revisit my block of your account. —DoRD (talk) 18:02, 8 March 2014 (UTC)

I received your email message and have unblocked your account. There has been a very disruptive user editing from your location, and on first glance, your account appeared to be them trying to evade blocks their accounts. However, now that you have confirmed that you are indeed using an official email address, I can only assume that my original finding was wrong. Please accept my apologies and I hope that you will find your time here rewarding.
On that note, though, I will be leaving some information at the top of the page to help guide you as you begin editing. As a member of university staff, you will need to be mindful of our conflict of interest policy to avoid conflicts with other users. Cheers —DoRD (talk) 15:05, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. We do have a shared IP here that faculty staff and students use so I understand mistakes happen. I had already read what I could find WRT employees editing their employer's wikipedia page. Obviously WP:NPOV, WP:RS, and WP:COI are some to be particularly mindful of and I will be.MlaneNYIT (talk) 15:19, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
Hi, I still appear to be IP blocked "Editing from 167.206.128.5 has been blocked (disabled) by Courcelles for the following reason(s):" Will this come off in time? Thank you.MlaneNYIT (talk) 17:22, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
You should be able to edit now. —DoRD (talk) 17:33, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
looks good now. These are the types of edits I'd like to make without going through the talk page first | example diff. There are several purely factual items that need updating. For anything that may be of a more nuanced nature I'll consult the talk page first. Hopefully this is a good way to proceed though feedback is welcome.MlaneNYIT (talk) 17:40, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
