The bot is not working at this articles talk page--Wikiscribe (talk) 15:46, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Random number script

Misza13,

Thanks for you random number script. I'm currently building a random quoter from it. It's beta, but still functional. Good job man! It's on this page, look at "Second test". Thanks again! KoshVorlonNaluboutes,Aeria Gloris 19:04, 1 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi glitch in the system

This Miszabot accidently archived an active Moved disscussion.... I reverted it, is there anything that can be done to prevent this in the future? Weaponbb7 (talk) 04:18, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Someone screwed up MiszaBot's config: [1]. –xenotalk 05:51, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Help

my archiving was working, and now I just don't know what I've done. I am trying to get 3 days and leave 1 thread, but now it's not doing anything. Could you ( When you get a chance ) take a look. User talk:Mlpearc. I guess I could re-install, thats scarry, if you could thanks 16:19, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

For that configuration, you probably want algo = old(3d) and minthreadsleft = 1. Миша13 16:59, 3 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

WP:PW Member confirmation

Hey, Misza, I was wondering if you could have your bot send out a membership confirmation message (which I will write) to all members of WP:PW? RaaGgio (talk) 16:13, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. That'd be beneficial for the bot too. Many of the talk page it spams are inactive for months (or even years) and the many megabytes of text are causing errors while delivering. Миша13 20:58, 11 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bot instructions

Hello. I was just wondering i've set the bot up to archive my talkpage User talk:Lil-unique1 but as you can see my talk page is already 229kb long. is there anyway i can get the bot to archive all inactive posts str8 away (there are some dating way back) and then set it to regular intervals? Lil-unique1 (talk) 00:51, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

|maxarchivesize = 25K
Seems very small.
|counter = 8
Why 8? Your previous archive is #2, and you've wiped both #1 and #2.
|archive = User talk:Lilunique1/Archive %(counter)d
You're missing the hyphen in "Lil-unique1".
Once you fix the last, the bot should run within the next day or so. After that, it should check your page every day to see if any section(s) qualify for archiving.

I've been trying to get automatic archiving on the Evanescence discussion page but I can't seem to get it to work. I've added the coding and repositioned so that it may be detected (even tested to make sure the full coding could go in the sandbox) but it's been a few days. I've watched the "cycles" on the contributions page, and it has passed over "E" a few times since adding the coding. Any suggestions? =D ~ [ Scott M. Howard ]:[ Talk ] ~ 02:05, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Duh. In my coding, I'm using "User Talk" instead of "Talk". Nevermind! =D ~ [ Scott M. Howard ]:[ Talk ] ~ 02:07, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

MiszaBot III

Hi again. Thank you for your MiszaBot III, but why did it take 39 days to archive this particular thread in this edit? It seems to be a full month late (31 days in the case of March).   — Jeff G. ツ 16:41, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Because the default value of the minthreadsleft parameter (which specifies how many is the fewest number of threads to leave on a page) is 5. Миша13 17:23, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I have added minthreadsleft to my user talk page.   — Jeff G. ツ 18:48, 22 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Miszabot question on Talk:Air conditioner

Not sure what I am doing wrong here (you must get this often...) where did the archive go at this page? I can't find the archived discussions. Talk:Air conditioner Thanks! Jminthorne (talk) 01:42, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A blacklisted link appears to be the reason [2]. Should work on next run. –xenotalk 01:48, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Jminthorne (talk) 02:28, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Spreading Miszabot to new sister wikis

Would you consider having Miszabot have a home on enWikisource? I know that I would appreciated having an archiving bot there. Thanks. billinghurst sDrewth 05:00, 26 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

User:MiszaBot/config question

I am trying to figure out if I can use the "archiveheader" parameter to have the bot add both the talkheader and the archive-nav templates (with the current archive number) - see for example User talk:Piotrus/Archive 33? The description at User:MiszaBot/config suggests it is possible, but it doesn't explain how to fill in the parameter. Perhaps you could add an example? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 17:21, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

%(counter)d will provide the current archive number. –xenotalk 17:27, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Right... so do I want archiveheader={{archive-nav|%(counter)d|prev=Archive%(counter)d-1|next=archive%(counter)d+1}}? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 17:42, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Can the template handle math functions? You might need to do something like prev=Archive{{subst:#expr:%(counter)d-1}} if not. –xenotalk 17:44, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed, that's what I'd like to know (also, will the default talkheader be replaced or will it stay?). So if anybody knows if this will work for the template, it may be a good idea to add an explanation and example the bot config page. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 17:56, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would just have the archivenav without the default talkheader. –xenotalk 18:04, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wouldn't it be simpler to use {{talkarchivenav}} or {{aan}}?
—WWoods (talk) 17:58, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Probably =) –xenotalk 18:04, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That's pretty convoluted, but may actually work. Lines 383-388 suggest that the header for a newly created page indeed gets to have variables such as %(counter)d expanded (quick look at the code where a new archive is created confirms that the variable dictionary is actually passed to the constructor) - this also answers Piotr's question whether the talkheader will be replaced - no, once an archive page exists, the header is left alone.
