That vandal

I was testing to see if it was a bot or a person. It is a person who apparently releases a bot after a series of meaningless edits. Kukini háblame aquí 06:14, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

help needed

Hi Misza, your bot stopped archiving Talk:International reaction to the 2008 declaration of independence by Kosovo some time ago, apparently when the article was renamed (see this post). Would you have the time to help us setting it up so that it works again? Thx — Emil J. 13:24, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MediaWiki talk:Common.css needs autoarchiving

Hi Misza13. The users who frequent MediaWiki talk:Common.css wants the excellent service from your archiving bot. We have set up the proper rules for your bot some days ago, but then we noticed that we have to ask you to tell the bot to visit since it is a "MediaWiki talk:" page. I assume your bot will honour the {{User:MiszaBot/config}} settings also for such pages?

We have had the {{AutoArchivingNotice}} on the page since 26 September and here is what little discussion we have had: MediaWiki talk:Common.css#Autoarchiving this page. No user against, no neutral, and some users for. So we have a (weak) consensus for autoarchiving.

--David Göthberg (talk) 22:51, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good guess. That's one namespace I haven't enabled it for yet. Миша13 15:27, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I see your bot did its first archiving run on the talk page now. (And it worked perfectly as usual.) Thanks for everything!
--David Göthberg (talk) 21:23, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have tried to resolve this myself...

I read the FAQ, changes the values of minthreadstoarchive to 1 to minthreadsleft to 0. I took the underscore out of "User talk:Eleos", which I thought was going to do the trick, but it is still not archiving. Would you have any suggestions for me? It did work at one time, I am not sure what happened. I did recently have my username changed from EleosPrime to Eleos, but the problem predates the name change. I appreciate any assistance you are able to offer.

just Eleos 13:30, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think after all the waiting, I didn't wait long enough. Seems removing the underscore did the trick!
just Eleos 18:48, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I just noticed you changed a parameter, and commented "seems to work; the thread just wasn't old enough". Since I had threads back to February, why didn't it work? I assuming that thread was old enough to trigger. Was I correct in assuming it was the underscore, or am I missing something else? Don't get me wrong, I am glad it works, I would just like to know what the original problem was so I don't repeat it.
just Eleos 19:09, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, you had this USer talk:Example for a while, which obviously prevented it from working. After this fix, yes, it was the underscore. Then you fixed it, and it finally worked by itself. Миша13 20:23, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Half archiving

Resolved

I set up the bot a fellow wikipedian, User:GoodDay. For some reason, the bot is removing the threads for the talk page, but is not copying them to the archive. On 26 September 2008, I cleaned up after the error. What's really odd about this is that the edit summary says it has archived to User talk:GoodDay/Archive 5, but it is not linked. When I copy and paste the text to Wikipedia search box, it goes right to his Archive 5 page. Since the config template is pointing to the right page, I am at a loss. -Rrius (talk) 17:46, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. -Rrius (talk) 19:33, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please archive my page

Hello, I would like to ask if your bot could regularly archive my talk page if it isn't too much trouble. Thank you. --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 05:52, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please see here how to do tell the bot to do it. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 09:28, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MiszaBot stopped archiving my page?

Hi there, I was wondering if you could help me out. I originally had on my talk page (which I updated manually): {{User:MiszaBot/config |maxarchivesize = 256K |counter = 5 |algo = old(2d) |archive = User talk:Stepshep/Archive %(counter)d }}

Your bot started archiving my page with this code on April 20, 2008; and stopped archiving on September 10. I changed my code, thinking the bot had changed its coding changed to this: {{User:MiszaBot/config |algo = old(2d) |archive = User talk:Stepshep/Archive %(counter)d |counter = 5 |maxarchivesize = 256K }}

And I'm still not getting anything to work. If you have the time to reply feel free to do it here, I've put this page on my watchlist. Thanks! §hep¡Talk to me! 23:03, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MiszaBot III forgot to remove archived threads from talk page

Hi
When MiszaBot III archived two threads from my talk page, he apparently didn't remove them from my talk page, so they were archived again the next day (properly this time).
No big, just thought you might want to know.
Thanks for the bot & Cheers AmaltheaTalk 00:45, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I know it happens. The bot operates in the following order:
  1. Put threads in archive.
  2. Remove threads from discussion page.
During 2. it can encounter a variety of problems, from edit conflicts to server timeouts. If that happens, it ends up with only putting threads in the archive and has to redo again the following day, effectively duplicating code. Unfortunately, there is no reliable way to assure atomicity of those two edits. At least it's better than doing it in a reversed order, in which case it could end up removing the threads but not putting them in the archives, right? Миша13 18:06, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Quite right. Thanks for getting back. :) --AmaltheaTalk 18:13, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think the page should be changed to the following (as displayed on your talk page, not in the edit screen):

<noinclude>{{pp-template}}{{Documentation|User:MiszaBot/Archive HowTo}}</noinclude>

Trying to help another user

I was trying to help another user, Billy Hathorn set up automatic archiving of his talk page, and I must have done something wrong. Even though I copied the {{User:MiszaBot/config}} from my user page and changed the setting to his user name, it seems to not be working. If the user name has an internal space (as his does) does MiszaBotIII require an underscore between the words? If not, can you take a look to see what I screwed up? Thanks. — Bellhalla (talk) 14:36, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphan tracker

Hey, I saw you recently add User:MiszaBot/Trackers/CAT:ORPHAN to the CAT:ORPHAN page. It looks great. A request: could you add a line to it that displays the total number of orphaned articles? It is not necessary to actually add all of the monthly cat totals together, you just need to use the article count from Category:All orphaned articles. Thanks!--Aervanath lives in the Orphanage 06:08, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikinews headline typo, change not saving

It was moved/renamed to the correct headline on Wikinews but not here. I changed it but the change doesn't show after saving. Galatee (talk) 20:08, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Problem resolved by PatrickFlaherty by purging the page on Wikinews, though I find it odd that my change over here apparently went through but didn't save. Also, I want to thank you for maintaining the Wikinews Importer Bot. It's been an interesting source of additional news. Galatee (talk) 21:28, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikinews Importer Bot

Hi, I followed the instructions for setting this up quite a while ago (over a week) but the bot hasn't updated the WP page yet. If you have a moment to check Portal:Hampshire/news and n:Wikinews:Wikinews Importer Bot/Hampshire and tell me where I'm going wrong I'd be grateful. Whoops, sorry. I was so overworked IRL in the recent days that I totally didn't have time to log in to Wikipedia. Миша13 17:20, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's no problem. I appreciate you delivering it at all! Thanks, ♥NiciVampireHeart19:25, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MiszaBot malfunction?

MiszaBot recently 'archived' my talk page with the following edit summary: "Archiving 3 thread(s) (older than 24h) to /dev/null."

This is unusual in 2 respects - I have my archiving set to 5 days, and the threads should be moved to User:Dendodge/{{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}.

My threads are gone, and it appears the bot didn't correctly archive anything in September either.

Do you have any idea why this happened? Dendodge|TalkContribs 20:50, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not so pointless, you know... Миша13 21:40, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Heh, silly me. =P Dendodge|TalkContribs 21:41, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Btw, I'd fix restore all the missing threads on your talk page, but unfortunately it's too agressive in edit mode and messes up my user interface (you have some malformed HTML there too, however you made that - see where the toolbox floats?), so I won't sorry. Миша13 21:44, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another malfuction?

Talk:Subprime mortgage crisis - removes threads for archieving (e.g. [1], [2]), but no archieves created, or old archives used [3]. I temporary removed the bot [4]. Any suggestions? --Hapsala (talk) 13:02, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

MBisanz suggested that perhaps you could help out with this page at Meta-Wiki, specifically with describing the selection or election process of how members are chosen for the Arbitration Committee on the Polish Wikipedia. Any help/input would be appreciated. Thank you for your time. Cirt (talk) 15:59, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not really very active on the pl.wiki, but I'll try to defer the request to my fellow natives. Cheers, Миша13 17:14, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Archive bot

Hello, apologies if this is a stupid question, but could you tell us why your bot is not archiving Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Redirects as I can't see any mistakes. Thanks! MSGJ 11:59, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! MSGJ 11:36, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

THIS ISNT WORKING

I request you to STOP MiszaBot archiving m talk page. It just isn't working right. Sorry. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 08:01, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can just remove the code from the page, as I have now done for you. MSGJ 08:22, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Seems to me it's working fine. But I'm not getting paid for it, so whatever. Миша13 09:27, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
