User:Tsadaqbmein, sockpuppet of banned User:Brexx

Hello, I saw you recently came across User:Tsadaqbmein, who, as it turns out, was a sockpuppet of banned User:Brexx. This is mostly a heads up, to notify you that you can freely revert any edits he has done. I have reverted a lot of Tsadaqbmein's edits, but edits to articles and areas I am not familiar with and where there were a lot of subsequent edits I could not revert. If User:Tsadaqbmein edited some article(s) you are familiar with, you might want to go back and double check his edits, and undo anything questionable. You may also want to visit Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Brexx/Archive to familiarize yourself with his editing habits. His identifying hallmark is an overuse of '...' and underuse of capitalization, see examples:[1][2] With this latest sock, he appears to have branched out into new territory, and the more people able to identify and, if possible, report him, the better, to avoid wasting time edit warring and cleaning up after him. Regards, Siawase (talk) 07:46, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Regarding Vandalism

Hi, I saw you comments on the user "Ryan" somethings page. I'm having the same problem with him constantly reverting my edits and ignoring me when I try and speak to him.

It's irritating because it takes a long time to implement the new chart macros and he keeps removing it.

What do you suppose we do? Could you block him or are you not an admin? Jayy008 (talk) 20:48, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

That's fine, but we try and tell him and he ignores lol. I will try and ask an Admin to block or talk to him because everytime I go back to a page he's reverted my edit :@. Do you no of any admmins? Jayy008 (talk) 17:29, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

i've given up caring about goodraise's opinion tbh, he's the only one that opposes the use of uk chart archives and nothing is gonna change his mind. the BEP list has 5 supports now so him being awkward really doesn't matter. Mister sparky (talk) 17:54, 26 January 2010 (UTC)

Opinion?

Hey, I'm currently having a back-and-forth with a user and was wondering if you could take a look? There is an extra section being added to Pet Shop Boys discography that I feel really doesn't belong (it's sloppily formatted and seems incomplete also). User 88.74.162.154 added and re-added it several times [3] and now I'm getting Talk Page messages from User:Keine melodien (I'm guessing that 88.74.162.154 created an account). This PSB section seems excessive to me and I didn't think this kind of detail was encouraged in discography pages, but I may be wrong. That said (and this may be a long shot) but I have a suspicion that these editors are also User:MoovieStarz — the "Enricorbit" typo left on my talk page is very familiar. Any thoughts? - eo (talk) 13:06, 29 January 2010 (UTC)

i need your help

hi, i have been working on hilary duff's discography, other users are having problems with a user insisting on which albums are studios, and & if singles divides, i came across what you worked on beyonce & BEP discography (by the way look great) i come here to ask you to please clean up & assist in fixing, duff's discogrsaphy page, you are a wonderful editor & i believe you will do a good job, if you want to or not, pls let me know Alxknight (talk) 22:23, 10 March 2010 (UTC) , butr pls considered it.

Digital Spy

Why is Digital Spy not reliable? I've used it for always a year for my news and it's never been wrong for facts, most of the time they source things from other sites such as the BBC. Jayy008 (talk) 16:34, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

most editors and admins wont tolerate it because its mainly run like a fan blog page and has very forum-like discussions and rumours. also, usually the info can be sourced much more reliably elsewhere. Mister sparky (talk) 18:00, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Taylor Swift discography

Thanks, but I'm not going to do that since Goodraise is basically just saying things. He doesn't have much to back him up and all other editors are disagreeing with him. So I think the consensus would be to keep Chartstats. If he has a problem with the cite, he should take it up with WP:CHARTS not a discography using the source because I'm only following the rules. Thank you so much anyways. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 21:35, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Oasis discography

I did not understand why you removed Oasis' chart positions from the Modern Rock Tracks/Alternative Songs chart from their discography page. I suspect this might have to do with the fact they were unsourced, but I have sourced them with an allmusic reference. For an act like Oasis, American genre-based airplay charts are allowed in discographies, especially if the artist had a large number of chart positions on those charts (they only have three on the Billboard Hot 100, which I have also sourced) and especially if those songs peaked at #1. P.S.: Looking back at this message, I seem to come off very accusatory towards you and I would just like to say that's not what I was trying to do at all (I know you likely had a totally valid point to remove those positions). They only go back so far, but what I see is: "Can You Forgive Her?" (109), "Somewhere" (125), "Go West" (106) and "Before" (107). Joel Whitburn's Top Pop Singles book also confirms these positions. - eo (talk) 20:18, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
Well, there is this link [4], which is probably as far as a non-subscriber can go. Otherwise, there is Joel Whitburn's Top Pop Singles, 12th Edition, Record Research, Inc., copyright 2009, ISBN 0-89820-180-2. - eo (talk) 20:25, 8 April 2010 (UTC)

MGMT Discography

You removed a link I put up linking MGMT's Alternative Songs chart positions to allmusic because they were "not sourced by the citation". Actually they are, under the chart's former name, Modern Rock Tracks. Modern Rock Tracks and Alternative Songs are the same chart, Billboard just changed the name when they acquired Radio & Records. I've added the citation back. Doc StrangeMailboxLogbook 19:16, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

RE: Sock

Hi there, I'm not sure if Sllewylen is a sock of RyanG222 but its defo worth monitoring. However one thing i did notice was you undid his edit of changing a belgium tip chart position of 14. Per WP:record charts (and the discussion on its talk page) ultratip chart positions should NOT be added on top of ultratop chart positions. Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. The Rambling Man (talk) 16:03, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi ! Please note that Mastermindofmusic, who contributed to Five discography article, is not a new Wikipedian, as you said on his talk page. He has used plenty of IP adresses and accounts, making exactly the same kind of disruptive edits (see Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/KirkleyHigh/Archive; there are also other IP adresses, such as 86.139.53.78). A check of the various edits shows it's obvious that it is the same user (improper capitalization such as "CD Single", removal of content, of references, etc). Sorry for my bad English ! -- Europe22 (talk) 20:27, 5 July 2010 (UTC)

Oh yes, he is very very very annoying! Frankly, I prefer that you do it because I don't speak English very well and I'm a little tired of this situation ... You can use the article Something Right (Westlife song) as proof : he contributed as 86.163.175.127, 81.153.251.130, 86.139.53.78 and Mastermindofmusic (and please see all the talk pages of the IP and accounts, and the others on Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/KirkleyHigh/Archive: he caused many problems...). Each time, he is blocked for a short time, he changes his IP address and this starts again. So I don't know if it's useful to report this case... -- Europe22 (talk) 22:21, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
i know an admin i can report him to. he'll know the best thing to do. Mister sparky (talk) 22:23, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Only 48 hours of block! What a pity! When you see this weak sanction, you probably understand why I renounced to report the last incidents... Regards. --Europe22 (talk) 20:36, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Black Eyed Peas charts

What determines what charts should become part of the ten in the discography? If it's by sales, then the Japanese chart information can easily be replaced with the information from smaller countries like Switzerland. Also, none of the BES singles were released in Japan, only the albums. If we were to replace for example SWI with JA in the albums ranking, would we still be able to keep SWI in the singles chart? Or would that just create too much confusion... エムエックスさん 18:58, 8 July 2010 (UTC)

Signpost "Features and admins" column

Hi Mister sparky,

The Signpost's "Features and admins" page now includes a "Choice of the week" for featured articles, featured lists and featured pictures. Each week, The Signpost invites a different delegate, reviewer or nominator from each process to select what they think is the best, or their favourite, item, and to give their reasons. These reasons can be technical (e.g., related to the Criteria) or subjective, or both.

Would you be willing to do this with featured lists for next week’s edition? If you agree, promotions from Monday 26 July to Saturday 31 July will be eligible (only six days this week because the publication deadline has come forward). They will be listed here by Saturday UTC, and we would need your text by Sunday UTC. Examples from previous weeks are accessible by clicking on "← PREVIOUS Features and admins" at the bottom. Cheers, Dabomb87 (talk) 13:35, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi Mister sparky, can you let me know as soon as possible if you can do this? Thanks, Dabomb87 (talk) 13:20, 29 July 2010 (UTC)
OK, thanks for the reply. Dabomb87 (talk) 13:24, 29 July 2010 (UTC)

Regarding the sock puppet you reported

The folks at AIV won't block him for being a sock puppet, only for vandalism. You're gonna want to head over to WP:SPI, and they'll usually do a bigger block on the IP address than if he was just a vandal. Also makes it easier to carry out future blocks. Annie Lennox US Hot 100 chart history

i'm just wondering why you removed it. it was totally accurate and if you see any different on billboard.com, it's because when they changed the layout of their website, they erased a lot of chart history and some of it is altered or incorrect altogether. LoveLaced (talk) 18:32, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

i can't remmeber now, was ages ago. was going to be added back straight away as part of the table re-organisation into alpha order, but never got around to doing it. and allmusic and billboard both have the same info, and it mirrors the info in the chart book. so the info put back will be correct. if this differs from what was in the article before then the article was wrong. Mister sparky (talk) 19:43, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
thanks. i didn't check Annie Lennox specifically on billboard, i just knew it was true of other artists and wanted to clarify that they might've done it to her also before chart listings were added back. LoveLaced (talk) 14:54, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
just following up, it seems both billboard and allmusic are incorrect, her cover of Many Rivers to Cross did chart at number 80 on the Hot 100. there is an article on billboard about it, here: [7] and it is missing from her chart history on the site. this was listed on her wiki singles chart before, so if you have erased any other chart positions, it would be good to search more thoroughly. hope this helps. LoveLaced (talk) 18:47, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

  • "No More 'I Love You's'" — 23
  • ("A Whiter Shade of Pale" — 101, or #1 Bubbling Under)
  • "Many Rivers to Cross" — 80

All are listed on Billboard.biz and also in Joel Whitburn Top Pop Singles, 12 edition. - eo (talk) 19:57, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

I recently revamped this article in hopes to nominate this for FL. Edit warring is starting to simmer down a bit so I plan to nominate within the next few days or so. I notice that you've contributed to many high quality FL discographies here, so I was just wondering if I could get some comments from you on the article before I nominate it. Thanks! –Chase (talk) 21:48, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Hi Mister sparky, can you comment on the accessbility issues brought up at this FLC? They could potentially affect most, if not all, of the other discography FLs. Thanks, Dabomb87 (talk) 00:59, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

re: Archiving

Well, here is the help page for it: Help:Archiving a talk page. It's real easy.

  • Edit your talk page and create a red link for an archive page (for example "/archive01").
  • Show preview.
  • Click the new red link to open a new "archive01" page (preferably in a new tab or window, keeping your talk page open). It will automatically name it as "User talk:Mister sparky/archive01". You can even use the one I created above.
  • At the top of the page, add the {{archive}} or {{talkarchive}} template.
  • Go back to your talk page and cut all your shit and paste it onto your new archive page.
  • Save both pages.
  • The help page also has those cute little boxes that people put all their archive page wikilinks into. Check there or swipe the template from someone else's talk page.
  • The End.

Let me know if you need further help! - eo (talk) 11:06, 18 August 2010 (UTC)

Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:

  • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
  • You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
  • If, for any reason, you decide yo do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing!--I also gave you rollback. If you don't want either, just let me know. Otherwise, happy editing. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 13:35, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Album vs. single versions

According to recent chart proceedings the album and single versions of a song, in the UK, are counted as once release. The earliest example I can think is Mariah Carey's "Angels Cry". Despite the single featuring Ne-Yo, on the UK charts it charted simply as a Mariah Carey single. Therefore "Higher" is also also likely to be in the same situation, it is unlikely that the version featuring Flo Rida will chart seperately from the album version. I've searched some of the recent chartings but can't see an examples of a case where the album version is listed seperately from the remixed single version except "Obsessed" by Mariah Carey, where the remix was was released for download in the UK but the album version charted from strong digital sales when the album was released. -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 15:23, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

hmmm yea thats true. but until the single version is released then i think they should be listed separately. otherwise people looking at the page are going to think that the flo rida version is charting, which isn't true. Mister sparky (talk) 22:30, 13 September 2010 (UTC)
I'll agree with that. It makes sense =) -- Lil_℧niquℇ №1 | talk2me 22:41, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Not sure what's gonna happen here

I placed a cleanup tag here - looks like a lot of work went into this, but obviously this is extremely excessive. I'd like to get this to adhere with WP:DISCOG and featured lists but I don't want to step on the dude's toes or bite a newcomer. Looking thru his contributions it seems as if many of the articles he has worked on are filled with minutiae discouraged in other music article (such as this). Hi Sparky,

Just wondered if you could weigh in on the discussion at Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Ciara discography/archive2. The Rokstarr Collection

Hey! No problem at all, we all make mistakes. Thanks for opposing the merge... half of it IS made up of "Departure", the other half "Rokstarr" and three previously unreleased tracks in the UK, so I'd say it was definitely a compilation album, especially with Cruz's interview, the OCC chart position, the album advert and Cruz's web site stating so... not to mention the title lol! Question

Hey, you seem to know a lot about editing discography articles. I have a question, in Linkin Park discography, in singles section, should albums in the Album column be linked to their articles? Is that overlink?. A user added a link there (edit), I removed the link (edit), and he added again (edit). Now I'm not sure if albums should be linked in the singles section. I have seen a few featured discographies and albums are not linked in Singles table. But to be sure I prefer asking to you. Thanks --Neo139 (talk) 04:59, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi. It's me again. I reverted the edit and changed WP:DISCOGSTYLE to avoid further confusion. I also fixed 14 featured discographies that had this issue. But, all my edits were reverted by a user. Now we are discussing if 'to link' or 'not to link' albums in the singles table. I would appreciate if you can join the discussion here: Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Discographies/style#Link_to_album_on_singles_table. Thanks!!! --Neo139 (talk) 03:36, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Hey I have added Linkin Park discography to peer review here. If you can check the article and see if there are any bad format or something it would help a lot. Thanks --Neo139 (talk) 03:48, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Invitation to comment: Formatting changes to WP:DISCOGSTYLE.

I believe you're aware of what's brewing, but I'd like to invite your participation, if you have the time. Even a quick yea or nay in the section linked at the bottom of this summary would be great.

Quick summary: Over at the Talk page for WP:WikiProject Discographies/style, there's been quite a bit of (at times tedious and technical) discussion about the formatting of discographies. Although WikiProject Discographies/style hopes to be part of the Manual of Style some day, it does not, currently, conform to WP:ACCESS, itself a part of the MoS. This is a problem because articles which conform to the WikiProject Discographies/style ought not be acceptable for promotion to FA or FL status, since they don't conform to the MoS.

After much discussion at Accessibility issues, followed by what was meant to be a conclusion at Time to update, we would be ready to actively address the problem, with discographies eventually being reformatted to appear as currently shown here (already changed from its earlier form). Column order and formatting would be noticeably changed, chart headings would typically be bigger, a few other differences in the coding would be made.

The only hold-up (as far as we know) is lack of wider consensus; I think too few people have participated and I'd like to see more editors register their opinion (be it support or criticism) before we move ahead with a rather significant change. (At the very least, you may consider this fair warning.) Your comment is welcome at Are we ready to apply this updated guideline?. Thanks. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 21:17, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

Just thought I'd let you know I left some minor things which I think might need clearing up on the FLC. Afro (Say Something Funny) - Afkatk 10:26, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
