A barnstar for you!
The Copyeditor's Barnstar | |
for your much needed work on PINK de Thierry Theroadislong (talk) 21:59, 31 January 2014 (UTC) |
- Thanks very much; it still needs a fair amount of work and, IMO, isn't ready for another GA nom yet. Its WP:REFBLOAT needs trimming, there are way too many explanatory footnotes and a couple of the images have copyright problems (no permission or fair-use rationale). The page seems cluttered with images, too; resizing the larger ones would help. I'll probably finish the copyedit tomorrow, and will tag the talk page. All the best, Miniapolis 22:15, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
- I also wanted to thank you for your hard work on copyediting PINK de Thierry. I'll probably have a look at it again soon. Epicgenius (talk) 13:11, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
- Glad to help. An issue which was raised at one of the previous GA reviews is that while foreign-language sources are of course OK, the total lack of anything online (i.e. translatable by non-Dutch speakers) is odd in a BLP; the primary contributor to the article may also have a COI. Anyway, good luck and all the best, Miniapolis 14:49, 2 February 2014 (UTC)

Asking a question
I am undertaking a major copyedit of the article located here. https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Lloyd_Bryan_Molander_Adams
I am kind of stuck on the formatting of one of the sections in the article. It is the one called Television shows and series. If you get a moment, could you please take a look at that one section, and perhaps suggest to me what sort of wikicode or formatting code will get rid of the awful blue box business. I mean that thing is worse than the BSOD on one of your computers!

Briarcliff Manor, New York
Hi Miniapolis,
I would like to ask you for some copy-editing help. I saw that you added your name to Wikipedia:Peer review/volunteers and have experience with copy-editing. My draft,User:Ɱ/sandbox7, is a thorough history and background on my hometown of Briarcliff Manor, New York, but the writing admittedly could use much improvement in wording and fluidity. I hope you'd be willing to help, and would really appreciate if you could take some time for glance at it.
Thanks.--ɱ (talk) 20:41, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
- Sure; as soon as I finish the article I'm working on now, I'll get to it (hopefully tomorrow). At a quick glance, it's a big improvement on Briarcliff Manor, New York. All the best, Miniapolis 21:44, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you; and PINK de Thierry appears to be a very interesting person and topic, although I should note that the lead paragraph should likely give a bit more explanation, especially to clarify "entering Arcadia daily", where Arcadia can only refer to a fictional place (as supported by the wikilink), or (as intended) the art exhibit. It isn't clear that the clause refers to the art exhibit until one reads the Arcadia section.--ɱ (talk) 16:10, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
- Yes; I did my best with that article, which has been (prematurely) nominated twice for GA already. I'll leave my comments on your article on your talk page. All the best, Miniapolis 16:36, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
- Now that's one thing I don't want to have happen for my article, which is one of a few reasons why I'm finishing it up still in draft form. I replied to your draft comments at my talk.--ɱ (talk) 20:21, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
- I agree with you that the paragraph on annexation may have been a bit too close to the source material, so I made additional changes to that section of the Briarcliff Manor draft. Whenever you're ready, I would appreciate your help to make the draft's tone more neutral. As well, your copy-editing is some of the best work I've seen, and I would like further assistance. Thanks for your work thus far. --ɱ (talk) 21:47, 10 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the kind words. When I finish the incredibly-long article I'm working on (hopefully in a day or two), I'll be back. I'll be on wikibreak over the weekend, but should be able to finish it next week. All the best, Miniapolis 00:07, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Vikings stadium
Given you're name implies you're from Minneapolis, Minnesota, I'm sure you're eager to check out the new stadium when it open in two years. NintendoFan (Talk, Contribs) 10:42, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Prince Marko may have broken the syntax by modifying 2 "()"s and 1 "[]"s and 2 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

I got your name from the Guild of Copyeditor's, would you be willing to mentor me? Let me know what you need to know from me. I would very much appreciate it, as although I have edited other forms of media this would be new to me.

Arc move
Hi Miniapolis,
I see that you redirected the Arc (protein) page to the ARC (protein) page. Although it makes sense that the acronym would be capitalized, for the most part, that's not what we tend to see in the literature. There are some exceptions of course, but almost always, scientists use "Arc," rather than "ARC." Unless you had another reason for moving the page, I'm going to suggest that we move it back to "Arc (protein)," and make "ARC (protein)" redirect to that page. Let me know what you think. Thanks. Rob Hurt (talk) 02:32, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry about that; I saw ARC in another article and jumped to conclusions :-). I'll self-revert (and straighten out any double redirects). Thanks for the correction and all the best, Miniapolis 03:35, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
- No worries. Thanks for fixing it. Rob Hurt (talk) 03:46, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
Hi Miniapolis
I think you've misunderstood what they're doing, and I think there are outing issues involved. Unfortunately, I've got a real world thing that I have to do for the next 2 hours. Can you hold off on this until then? My revdel is probably over-reacting, but it can be reversed if you disagree. Sorry, I just saw this right when I need to run, and better safe than sorry. --Floquenbeam (talk) 17:01, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
- I'll send you an email in about 2 hours or so. And if any of this looks like I'm criticizing you, I'm definitely not. --Floquenbeam (talk) 17:03, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reassurance :-); I really didn't know what to do in this case, and better safe than sorry. All the best, Miniapolis 17:07, 26 February 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know but actually I can't see it because another editor deleted the thread with explanation and an admin had suppressed the edits. NHRHS2010 RIP M.H. (1994-2014) 17:00, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
- Hi; my post was revdeleted due to privacy concerns (see next thread). I saw all your user talk pages here; user TPs are not normally speedied but go through MFD, so I'm waiting to hear back from Floquenbeam. All the best, Miniapolis 17:17, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know about MFD. I never thought of MFD and just took a look at it and will say that I think it would be a better idea. All I was requesting was to delete old IP pages (and a very few indef blocked user talk pages) with stale warnings when I was editing under my old username. I was mostly active during my first couple years on Wikipedia, and was in my high school years at the time but now I am a grownup and have been busy. I am serious about internet safety these days and did not give much thought of it during my high school days. Back in 2007 and 08, I do indeed recall seeing administrators deleting userpages of indef blocked users with {{indefblockeduser}} tags. NHRHS2010 RIP M.H. (1994-2014) 17:31, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
- Also, if someone started an AN thread about me or mentioned me in it, I would like to assure you that I wasn't intending to cause any disruptions or spam. I am trying to minimize the chances of having someone find out what my old Wiki username was. NHRHS2010 RIP M.H. (1994-2014) 17:39, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
- Don't worry; I started the thread, looking for advice on the best way to handle the user TP deletions. This is definitely a WP:CLEANSTART situation (which doesn't yet have advice on dealing with old user-talk pages; the only guideline I could find was in WP:RTV, which doesn't really apply here). It'll get straightened out soon. All the best, Miniapolis 17:55, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
- Okay great. What you are intending is actually a great idea. Especially because Wikipedia is a non-profit organization and rely on our donations and outdated stale pages that nobody looks at anyways could also be a waste of space, requiring more money to be spent. Although I have not been an active Wikipedia user during my adult years, I have been dealing with grief lately due to losing a friend to suicide (as suggested by my signature), causing me to have "too much time on my hands" and procrastinate, and find myself more time on the internet, as evidenced by my recent vandalism fighting and a whole slew of new YouTube videos from my recent travels, which have been sitting in my computer for several months. It is good to be part of Wikipedia again :) NHRHS2010 RIP M.H. (1994-2014) 18:02, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
- Welcome back, and my deepest sympathy for your loss (I saw your user page). I know what you mean; I found myself with unexpected time on my hands several years ago after my mother passed away, and changed from a WP reader to an active editor. Have fun and all the best, Miniapolis 18:08, 26 February 2014 (UTC)
