Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Midethelinguist, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Draft:Shankar Goenka, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

New to Wikipedia? Please consider taking a look at the our introductory tutorial or reviewing the contributing to Wikipedia page to learn the basics about editing. Below are a few other good pages about article creation.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions ask me on my talk page or you can just type {{help me}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. A tag has been placed on Draft:Shankar Goenka, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hello Midethelinguist. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Midethelinguist. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Midethelinguist|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:34, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Robert Joseph Aguilar, Jr. moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Robert Joseph Aguilar, Jr., is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:37, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

IMDb is not a reliable source

[edit]

After answering the inquiry about WP:PAID above, please have a look at the huge table at WP:RSP to gain an overview of which sources can be used, and which can't, and why. IMDb has a prominent entry in the table. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 18:38, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Replied with a new question ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:51, 14 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Robert Joseph Aguilar, Jr., requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. YODADICAE👽 14:07, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Deb. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.
Information icon Hello, Midethelinguist. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you.

You claim that the article was reviewed. If it had passed a review, it would have been moved out of draft space by the reviewer. Don't ever move articles you created out of draft space without waiting for them to pass a review. Deb (talk) 15:33, 19 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Spam/Advertising/WP:BLP

[edit]

Hi Midethelinguist,

as we had previously discussed at User_talk:ToBeFree/A/3#Message_by_Midethelinguist, you seem to have added unverifiable information indicating a strong conflict of interest to the page Robert Joseph Aguilar, Jr. / Draft:Robert Joseph Aguilar, Jr.. Without providing the required citations, you have moved the article back to the mainspace.

There are now two issues that I will address with an indefinite block:

  1. You do seem to have a conflict of interest and are refusing to disclose it. The information provided on the deleted page can't be found anywhere in published sources unless you prove otherwise. This makes it seem that you have received the information via non-public channels, possibly from the article subject himself. If this is the case, it contradicts your statement in Special:Diff/1023160765, and there is currently no way to trust you to continue editing Wikipedia in accordance with its policies.
  2. Your mainspace article was so promotional that it was nominated for deletion by an independent reviewer, and deleted per WP:G11 by another administrator. That all happened after you had the opportunity to fix the issues, after you had been warned about conflict of interest issues, and after you chose to re-publish the article anyway. It is thus clear that warnings have no effect, and there is no point in providing another warning before blocking you from editing.

Possible binding unblock conditions to be explicitly requested by you in an unblock request could be:

A convincing unblock request should, at minimum, finally disclose the conflict of interest, or provide citations that prove that you have written the article using published sources. It should also provide credible, specific examples for helpful contributions you would like to make in the future. The Task Center and the community portal contain ideas.

There is no time limit for an unblock request, so if you are currently not interested in properly addressing these concerns and editing Wikipedia about topics unrelated to your prior article creations, then take your time and wait until this ever changes. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 08:57, 20 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
