Bruce Hyer

[edit]

Just for your information, Wikipedia's policies include a requirement to maintain a neutral point of view — we don't express editorial opinions about the facts of any given situation, but simply report the facts in a neutral manner. Even if I personally agree with you that Stephen Harper has undemocratic tendencies and that the NDP's treatment of your dad was kind of shameful, it's not Wikipedia's role to describe them as such. We simply report the facts of the situation, and don't express value judgements about who was in the right and who was in the wrong about it. So some of the language you added to the article yesterday has had to be trimmed for NPOV compliance.

I also need to ask you to read our conflict of interest policy. You are allowed to make strictly factual edits to your dad's article if we're getting stuff wrong, but you need to exercise some extra caution to ensure that your personal relationship with him isn't leading you to make contributions that violate one or more of our content rules (such as NPOV, or adding details about his personal life that can't be properly referenced to any reliable sources.) Entire articles in User talk

[edit]

It's recommended to put whole versions of articles in User space subpages. Putting big parts of articles on talk pages is not recommended. It would be best if you moved text about Bruce Tolhurst Hyer from User talk:Jtmorgan into subpage in your User space (like this User:Michaelhyer/Bruce Hyer) and linked new subpage on the talk page. --andrybak (talk) 21:43, 12 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I took the liberty of doing so. Hope you don't mind, Michael. User:Michaelhyer/Bruce_Hyer. Regarding the article: I'm not sure what kind of feedback you wanted. I wasn't easily able to see what changes you made in the draft you posted on my page, but from the article's history I'd say Bearcat seems to have objected to some of them. Based on your username, I'm guessing this is a relative of yours? If so, I would advise being careful when editing this article, because it's easy to have a Conflict of Interest. When in doubt, ask at the Teahouse first. Happy editing, - J-Mo Talk to Me Email Me 01:37, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
