License tagging for Image:060900 group.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:060900 group.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 17:04, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Image tagging for Image:311.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:311.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

No thanks

[edit]

Please ensure that articles about (especially about future events) are truly encyclopedic before adding them to templates. I'm pretty sure the article Bam's Unholy Union violates WP:NOT and WP:V, so don't be offended if it gets deleted. Cheers, Deizio talk 21:46, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unholy Union

[edit]
  • I'm disappointed we have to revisit this, but the Unholy Union page was previously deleted and should not be recreated until the show is on television. Failure to abide by this decision could result in a block for disruption. Deizio talk 11:46, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wet Sand

[edit]

Please make sure that future events you add to templates are verifiable; a link to a Brazilian blog does not count I'm afraid. This is not the place for specualation and future events are only covered when they have a verifiably good chance of taking place. This single, from the evidence on the article, doesn't yet fulfil that criterion. --Guinnog 14:38, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RHCP Intro Paragraph

[edit]

Personally, I don't see the article has any dire necessity to entail an introductory paragraph. I don't mean to be rude, but the writing could use some work and is rather uncomplicated. It isn't logical in some areas. Please try to clean it up. NSR77 01:48, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Breakthrough Sucess" Image

[edit]

Could you possibly find a more suitable image? The current one looks as though it has been through some wear and tear. In addition, that picture is of the Mother's Milk era, NOT Blood Sugar Sex Magik. NSR77 03:28, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alright. I, also, thank you for helping me and others keep the article in the good condition it so badly longs for. NSR77 15:49, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading Image:311.gif. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation.. In this case, the copyright used was appropriate for a music recording and not for an image. I've removed the incorrect copyright notice and thought you might be able to sort out a more appropriate one. Rklawton 05:31, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

3RR warning

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Red Hot Chili Peppers. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content which gains a consensus among editors. Note that in this case you have in fact already violated the three-revert rule. As you had not yet been warned, I have chosen not to block you this time. If it occurs again, administrators are less likely to be lenient. Heimstern Läufer 23:08, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have in fact already blocked Zagozagozago for violating 3RR. He was clearly aware of the rule and in violation of it. But it's important that you don't allow yourself to violate the rule because someone else does. If indeed Zagozagozago is unilaterally enforcing changes, you shouldn't have to do all the reverting; other users involved can do some of it, and then you won't violate the rule. Heimstern Läufer 16:28, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding edits to 311 (band)

[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, MiTfan3! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the link you added, matching rule blog\.myspace\.com/, is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia's external links policy for more information. If the link was to an image, please read Wikipedia's image tutorial on how to use a more appropriate method to insert the image into an article. If your link was intended to promote a site you own, are affiliated with, or will make money from inclusion in Wikipedia, please note that inserting spam into Wikipedia is against policy. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! Shadowbot 21:04, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and will be removed. Thanks. Shadowbot 21:09, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Extra Track Listings

[edit]

Really, I don't see a need for them, as I look through other artists Single's who do not add the album info box. It's far too big, and the existing info box is sufficient. They are appropriate only in an article without an existing single-info box. I'm going to be removing them from pages that do not fit into said categories. Regards, NSR77 (Talk|Contribs) 14:02, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I'm realizing now that most of them are not you. I was just flipping through and saw that, the first article I edited with the info box, was added by you. They stretch the pages too much and aren't helpful. Thanks for everything, NSR77 (Talk|Contribs) 14:29, 27 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Huh?

[edit]

Why are you removing sourced single charts data from major countries in Californication (album) and replacing it with unsourced chart information from minor US charts? See Wikipedia:Systemic bias. Kamryn Matika 16:40, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RE: the song redirects:

I already did give a good reason? Those individual songs weren't independently notable, there were no reliable sources to back the claims up, there's pretty much nothing much that can be said about each song that can't already be said on the main album page. See WP:SONGS. Kamryn Matika 17:20, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, just because other pages don't comply with policy, doesn't mean that it's okay for these pages to not comply with policy too. One bad article does not justify the existence of thousands of other bad articles. Kamryn Matika 17:21, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And if you revert me, I will just revert you too unless you can provide a good policy-based reason as to why those pages should have content instead of redirects. Kamryn Matika 17:22, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Grand Slam title

[edit]

I see on a couple of occasions you have tried to imply that the US title could be considered a third tier belt, rather than a second tier belt. TO make it clear the US title was, is and has always been considered a second tier belt, in the NWA and WCW era it was second only to being World Champion, just as the IC title is second only to the WWE title. When WWE resurrected it along with the IC title it is clear that it is a second tier under the WWE then World title, which is a first tier belt. The TV title in WCW was a third tier belt, the TV title in ECW was a second tier belt, the Hardcore title in WWF was a fourth tier belt, and the Euro title was a third tier belt. The US title has never been a third tier title, and to suggest it as an alternative to the Euro when considering a Grand Slam is pure OR, refrain from adding this to the Grand Slam Championship article. Thanks for uploading Image:Rhcp35.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Why did you rework the entire RHCP template? - Bagel7T's 22:08, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wouldn't it be better to have a bunch of different looking templates? Making them all the same is boring. Each band doesn't play exactly the same music, does it? I think individual templates look better. - Bagel7T's 22:18, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:SA Martinez.jpg

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:SA Martinez.jpg. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. High on a tree (talk) 04:13, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We've definitely made it now; a drunken guy is singing out of key one of our songs next to me in the urinal." - Anthony Kiedis

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Every Thing Under the Sun.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Every Thing Under the Sun.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:59, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Budhillsingles.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Budhillsingles.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 13:56, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Metallica/GH3

[edit]

I do realize the full track list for the Metallica album has been listed, but the problem is that no one has said the entire album will be DLC - it may be the whole thing, it may be selected tracks. We need to wait until we have more confirmation. --MASEM 23:25, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Metallica UK chart references

[edit]

It is unnessesary to reference every single song with the same citation. All it needs is one citation at the top of the UK section, just like it is for every other chart. There's no need to give that chart special attention. MiTfan3 (talk) 17:56, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're problem is this: the source you reinstated at the top of the listing does not list any chart place outside the Top 40, so you will not find a chart position for three of the last four singles (those that failed to make the UK Top 40).
By deleting my references you have should have also deleted those chart positions itself, because they are now unreferenced.

Thanks for uploading Image:Lookoutsunshine.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

File permission problem with File:Virginia Board of Censors circa 1958.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Virginia Board of Censors circa 1958.jpg, which you've attributed to (You may make single copies of materials displayed on the Web site for your own personal and noncommercial use only). I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:25, 9 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
