Georgia O'Keeffe

[edit]

Hello, I noticed that you are a newcomer and seem to be focused on grammar and other copyediting, with a recent edit to the Georgia O'Keeffe article. There is a small group of us working on the O'Keeffe article, see Talk:Georgia O'Keeffe#Article improvement progress. There will be some completed sections soon. I am working on "Relationships" and would relish copyediting once I finish that.

Ppt91 is working on the "New York" section, and may enjoy some help, too.

Is that anything you are interested in? I don't mean to task you with anything, just inviting you in if you're interest. I have found that there are not a lot of opportunities to work with other users and thought this could be something you'd be interested in. Saying no—or saying nothing—is perfectly fine, too.–CaroleHenson (talk) 19:29, 3 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

My main focus is science and medicine related articles, but I don't mind branching out once in a while! I'll consider stopping by and maybe working on it more in the future. :) Mercedes-Fletcher (talk) 22:20, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Great, whatever happens. Happy editing.–CaroleHenson (talk) 02:31, 5 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Naturalist photographs

[edit]

I came across your contributions while editing the wharf borer. While grammatical structuring is a good introduction to Wikipedia editing, I believe you could greatly contribute to the project with your amazing naturalist photographs. I've edited a great deal of stubs on insects that sorely needed some visual material, so if you'd be willing to share your work in the public domain I will gladly recommend some places where it can be used. DukeofCarniola (talk) 12:00, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, I'd love to help out if I have photos of any species that need them. What were you looking for? :) Mercedes-Fletcher (talk) 19:55, 15 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hey that's great to hear! Since it seems you're a fan of moths I can suggest the Antheraea genus (in my opinion) cool looking eye moths that mostly lack wikipedia entries. For more specific entries that just lack photos I can offer you two bounties from the US I came across: Polygrammodes oxydalis and Euphyes berryi.
And if you come across any other interesting animals on your expeditions, certainly let me know! My taxonomic skills are not the best, as my biology training is mostly on the cellular level, but I will try my best to help you place them.
Any help will be greatly appreciated and I wish you a pleasant rest of the week! :) DukeofCarniola (talk) 12:45, 16 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm, unfortunately I have yet to spot any of those, with the exception of Antheraea Polyphemus, which already has a photo. In fact, it looks like most of the species I've photographed have at least one image on their Wikipedia page already... I would love to help, but is it still helpful to add more images to articles that already have one? If so I'll gladly do so, but I'm still somewhat new to contributing here so I thought I would check in first. :) Mercedes-Fletcher (talk) 20:30, 16 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes of course you can add multiple pictures, especially if they contrast different poses, the sexes or showing the larva/ cocoon stage. Expanding the descriptions (with proper sources) is also helpful. Do you also collect samples or just make live photos? DukeofCarniola (talk) 15:12, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, maybe I'll look into uploading some anyway! I currently just take live photos. Mercedes-Fletcher (talk) 22:29, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's great to hear, I can't wait to see some of your pictures! Don't hesitate to get in touch if you need some help and keep me posted any cool photos you might take :) DukeofCarniola (talk) 12:40, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hey how's it going? The other day I was at the natural history museum in Utah and saw a giant display of moths and butterflies and it made me think of you. It's great to see you're contributing your wonderful photos to Wikipedia! I'm currently on an exchange in the states and hopefully I'll get to see at least some of the natural wonders around. If you have any recommendation do let me know! DukeofCarniola (talk) 22:45, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Per your edits on Colladonus clitellarius please note that punctuation comes before the reference and headings are lower case . Theroadislong (talk) 21:10, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I'll keep that in mind going forward! Thanks! Mercedes-Fletcher (talk) 21:13, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

articles needing images

[edit]

Hey, M-F! You can find articles someone has marked as needing an image at (for instance) Category:Wikipedia_requested_images_of_insecta. Valereee (talk) 10:33, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, that might be useful! Thank you! :) Mercedes-Fletcher (talk) 22:32, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Editing citations

[edit]

I noticed your possibly ingenuous edits were reverted on animal language. Some friendly advice: Wikipedia has bots that maintain citations; you will save yourself some trouble by not modifying existing reference information. Rebecca Beecham Gotzl (talk) 06:54, 12 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Changes to "2000-watt society"

[edit]

Hi Mercedes-Fletcher, I've noticed some recent spelling corrections in the article on the 2000-watt society. There were instances where you changed "tonnes" to "tones." Just to clarify, "tonnes" refers to a unit of mass equivalent to 1,000 kilograms, commonly used for measuring weight or mass. On the other hand, "tones" typically refers to musical notes or sound frequencies. Therefore, changing "tonnes" to "tones" alters the intended meaning of the sentences. I'll revert them back to maintain accuracy.
