86.151.183.104

86.151.183.104 (talk · contribs) seems to be primarily vandalizing Wikipedia. While a few of his edits are constructive, the majority are dubious unsourced edits or outright factual errors. The IP's last 5-10 edits have been changing birthdays to erroneous dates. Earlier the IP was adding birth dates of children which do not seem accessible on the internet Conrad Bain After the easily found errors on the later edits, I removed these unsourced edits as well. I gave the IP a level 4 warning. Is there anything else I should do such as a AN/I? I still need to go through all of his edits to see if there are any more erroneous entries. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 08:28, 7 July 2012 (UTC)

Proceed with AN/I perhaps if s/he continues with these disruptive edits post-last warning. You have engaged (as well as what seems like many others) the IP - S/he does not seem to be interested in responding, so already, they are creating somewhat of an issue and ultimately becoming disruptive. This edit seems as if they are ignoring the sources; and one can assume they are adding diliberate factual errors instead - if they resume with those types of edits, a report at AIV has merit. Hope that helps! -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 08:42, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
Where is the smite key? This IP has been doing this all month; maybe a hundred edits. I have gone back through June 15; the reverts get harder as people edit over them. Seems to be all celebrities. Much is a mix of valid and erroneous information, all unsourced or fake sources. One where he added a fake marriage and helpful editors corrected over it. Another where he added three children, correct names but two had erroneous birth dates. Argh! I'll work on it some more tomorrow. Jim1138 (talk) 10:15, 7 July 2012 (UTC)
Well it looks as if s/he has refrained from editing, and therefore adding in unsourced content to articles - which is a plus. I'll still keep an eye out, and make sure that their contributions remain clean, and not an issue. AN/I will be definately appropriate if they continue, and AIV depending on what content they are adding in. Regards :D -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 05:44, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Removal Startrek Tune reference

I understand that it is unsourced yet. But how to solve this? Should I write a book first? Or refer to a radioprogram I made? If I should be musicpro -which could be the case- , does that count? Publish somewhere else first instead of wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Milesaway736 (talkcontribs) 14:11, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi Milesaway736, and Welcome to Wikipedia!
I assume, that you're closely related to the topic in question? If so, I recommend waiting for or finding a secondary reliable source - perhaps that has been published (by someone other than yourself) to avoid Point of View issues, or Conflict of Interest matters. In no way am I doubting that you know what you're talking about, however the content your adding in, is somewhat of an opinion of a person, rather source. Hope that helps! :D -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 05:50, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

July WMAU Melbourne Meetup

Hi, At last month's June meetup we discussed the idea of setting up a Training Course at a University of the Third Age (U3A) to be held in 2013 and named Becoming a Wikipedia editor. In order to get this course up and running we are calling for volunteers to help develop the idea, and either tutor part of the course, or provide one on one help to students in the class. All local Wikipedians are welcome to discuss this at our 11am meetup to be held this Sunday on 22 July. Please add your name to the attending list at Wikipedia:Meetup/Melbourne 23. Food and beverages are provided. Cuddy Wifter (talk) 02:41, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi there, and Welcome to Wikipedia!
There are a few issues with the article you have created, entitled Veyangoda Bandaranaike Central College. Main issues, that come to mind, is advertising/promotional material (the article looks like it's advertising the college - that is strictly forbidden on Wikipedia); another is that there are notability concerns (the sources that have been privided in the article, don't demonstrate/assert notability of the college); lastly, if this article were to be kept, you must understand, that anyone and everyone can edit the article - not just the college.
There is currently a discussion as to whether or not the article can stay here. It probably will stay, however, personally, the article looks superb - but, I do not believe the layout and its content, is encyclopedic, at this stage. The discussion now has to take place, as another editor has initiated it, and since they have, it cannot be removed from the article, until the discussion has been completed. Thank you, -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 07:55, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

What Car? edit

Hi there,

I'm the editor of What Car? and would like to change some of the information on the Wikipedia page to a) better reflect the services offered by our title and b) correct errors contained in the information (such as Which Car? and the frequency of our Indian edition).

I've made some edits this morning but they have been immediately deleted. Why has this happened and how can I correctly edit it so the changes are allowed?

Hope you can help.

Kind regards,

John — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnmcilroy (talkcontribs) 10:22, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi John, Welcome to Wikipedia!
On Wikipedia, we have certain policies, that must always be followed. One core policy, is that people must not add original research (content that has no reliable sources) - that way, if content does have reliable sources - it's factual. The content you added, was done in good-faith, however, it was unsourced. Feel free to add it back into the article - once you've got the appropriate sources. Negros Occidental, notable people, swimming

hi,

My name is Jiffy Grupe Jauod, one of the Jauod Brothers who were very active in Swimming during our time. I happened to be one of the members of Philippine Swimming Team in 1981 Sea Games. The first time I found out about this link was when I googled my name. I immediately took action of trying to edit accordingly, and I tried to contibute everything that I can remember the time when me and other people who was part of the victories that gave honor to our province. I still have those pictures and medals and some news clippings, however, I am now residing abroad and all those were left behind in our house in Bacolod City. Most of people who had been active in following the history about sports, specifically in swimming can confirm that, what was written were all true events. Please try consider interviewing people such as Cong. Monica Puentevella, Nonong Villanueva (Sta. Fe Resort) Mark Joseph (PASA) Philippine Amateur Swimming Association, or even Eric Buhain who is now chairman of the Philippines' Games and Amusement Board or Richard Luna who is currently a very active swimming coach at Colegio de San Juan de Letran. I'm not sure if Vic Salazar is still around, but he has written so many columns in Visayan Times regarding our contributions to the province under sports as the products of the selected Gintong Alay members who were competing at the international level. Also some news clippings found in the former Daily Exprress, and Manila Bulletin.

Ereasing our part is like ignoring our hard earned contributions while we are all still a living witnesses to all these events. There are even no recognitions in Archery that in one of the olympics our very own Eduardo Sayo and Clint Sayo also represented Philippines in Mens Archery. I know about this because I played both Swimming are Archery and had been a member of National Amateur Archery association(NAAP).

My Mother Juanita Camporaso Grupe who once was a member of the Phillipine Team that competed in Taiwan (formerly Formosa)was not even cited, but her picture is being displayed in Panaad Stadium.

So, how does it feel when a neglection of accomplishment is being questioned, when you are still around and very much alive?

Jiffy, please just remember, that although there's much emphasis on it - but at the end of the day Wikipedia is just a website. The content you added, was unsourced - and if it has no reliable sources at all; sorry to say, but it has no place on Wikipedia. -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 07:26, 14 July 2012 (UTC)

Negros Occidental ==Swimming==

Hi MelbourneStar,

Are those news paper clippings enough to give sources at all, the dates and volume numbers? How about pictures and records from Philippine Amateur Swimming Association? I understand it is only a web site but no one can twist history I supposed and of course as one of the participant or competing person of the actual event that is being struck off is as frustrating, when other people of the same has been recognized why we are not? It happened to our own mother that even until now her sports contribution to the province was not even recognized. And of course this makes us proud to our children that we had contributed something good to our province, on the record. Even Negros Press Club has recognized and awarded us brothers, of course among others, a certificates signed by Vic Salazar who is one of the member of Negros Press Club, citing our contributions to Negros Occidental in sports. What I don't understand when others were being recognized the way they had contributed the glory for our province and we did the same capacity in our own area of sports and we were excluded? I wish I be able to speak to Vic Salazar when I get home, who somehow have the idea of what we actually had contributed. Even former colleagues will help this things straighten out as most of us are still alive.

Respectfully

Hi Jiffy!
I'm somewhat confused about which newspaper clippings you are reffering to, however, if there are multiple reliable secondary sources (newspaper clippings included) then by all means, the content can be reinstated into the article. If you provide the sources, and they are proper, then they will ultimately corroborate notability - and the content will have merit. Regards, -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 08:42, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

MelbourneStar,

I'm referring to the news files made by the late Vic Salazar in the Visayan Times(just happened to know now that he passed away) during our time from 1978 and somewhere around 86's. Perhaps my classmates now Councillor Elcid Familliaran and Nonoy Espina who is now a journalist can even attest to that swimming history, even Harold Limbo classmate of my brother Janice. You may wanted to speak to Oscar 'nonong' Villanueva or Cong. Monico Puentevella.

Pictures and Medals or even just interviewing Francisco Guanco himslef and ask him. Or Danilo Padronia working in the city of Bago who's younger brother was my team mate during the SEAG 81. National news papers, the old Daily express. There are so many sources that you can relate and corroborate the story yourself before deleting it. Even Atty Palanca have seen how we used to practice in the reclamation area when it was still being reclaimed, because we need permission before doing so. Records from PASA is attainable if you really wanted to make sure that the event was true before deleting them. There are so many ways to confirm all of this. The cartoonist on Visayan Times Roy Aguilar sure can still remember us or me. Now city Prosecutor Ronald Yngson who was my team mate in Archery together with the SAYO (father and Son who was also in the Philippine team in one of the Olympics-can be contacted in Sayo welding shop) can even attest to all of the events.

There are just so many sources.

Jifjau (talk) 08:34, 15 July 2012 (UTC)Jiffy G. JauodJifjau (talk) 08:34, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

Jiffy, I'm reffering to published sources, such as a newspaper - accounts from people remembering this story, is original research. Can you provide newspaper articles (check newspaper archives if it's going back a while; provide links to the newspaper article etc.). -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 10:17, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
MelbourneStar,

I live abroad now. I am trying to locate some old issue from Visayan Times (online) but there was no internet during our time. That is the reason why I am referring you to all living witnesses and to some old issues of the Visayan Times since I am abroad. I am sure the office of the Visayan Time has those copies if the local library have not filed them. I supposed that should not have been deleted anyway. Before I made some correction somebody put it there already and I was surprised seeing it. When I read about it I found out that our last name was misspelled JAOUD for JAUOD and I don't know who actually made it. So, I made corrections and added what I thought was the rightful event like when we were practicing in the reclamation area. Also the time when we were in the celebrity sports plaza with then ambassador R. Benedicto and Olympian Mark Spitz whom I got picture with him, and the time when our team broke the Philippine record in Men relay and I was the butterflier and the part that we were chosen but in fact we were not chosen but we had to qualify through time trials.

Its just painful and frustrating enough that after all the hard work we had during our time, now we have to defend and fighting to put it forward to be recognized. There was no internet during our time and probably records from the local library is not as intense as it should be and lucky we got some of our own clippings or scrap book and pictures of our achievements.

If only I am in Bacolod, I will do what you mean regarding the sources that is why, again, I am referring to the people you can possibly talk to.

By the way, you already know me. May I also know you?

Jifjau (talk) 08:34, 15 July 2012 (UTC)Jiffy G. JauodJifjau (talk)

Jiffy, Wikipedia, I can guarantee, won't disappear tomorrow. Nor will it, the next day, or the next day after that. No need to be stressed or frustrated.
That being said, you have all the time in the world to gather news paper articles - one or two is acceptable - that detail your content that you want added in. Published sources, can vary - articles (newspapers - they've been around for centuries); and in some cases, internet archives, they have old newspaper articles too.
Unfortunately, people are not published sources. The people you're suggesting I speak to, they may know what happened, but at the end of the day, what they say is pure original research, which is forbidden on Wikipedia.
You may call me Frank. Regards, -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 11:33, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

Ha ha funny enough. Is it Frank as in Franklin Villanueva, now, news caster and formerly my work colleague before in a soft drink company in Bacolod?

Anyway, I will find a way to get a copy when I get the chance of going home or even get into the news about this. I am only doing this because like what I said, our mother, formerly Juanita Camporaso Grupe, known as mestiza German, a discus throw and shot put champion, member of Philippine team competing in Formosa, holder of Philippine record until Mona Soliman, is now being forgotten. You know Frank, these are the things that are not in order. When late and former Gov. A. Montelibano Jr. was still around, we were all being recognized properly even my mom was offered by him to become one of the trainer for the Pagla-um athletes together with Inocencia Solis because of their expertise in their own fields.

Anyway, we can talk a lot about anything, how we contributed something in Bacolod and Negros as a whole. Even my father Carlos A. Jauod when he was the band master of Bacolod City High School, after my Grand Father, that Mayor Bing can also attest to it during the formulation of the Masskara where my father was a member when it was originally formulated, but of course it is another story. But what I am trying to point out is when we were all still in Bacolod we had been very participative.

I will contact you once I found a copy from any news write up.

Regards,

Jiffy — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jifjau (talkcontribs) 12:14, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

I wish you luck with that - I'm sure you'll find something. Again, I'll stress to you, Wikipedia at the end of the day, is just a website, and I'm sure that there are many other places over the internet to spread the information - YouTube and Facebook, have been known to host a lot of content that is viewed by thousands, if not millions of people - maybe create a video on YouTube perhaps? or create a Facbook page that can have any content you'd like on it, regardless if it has sources, or not.
Despite there being 7 billion people in this world, you can't forget someone, and your mother is included in that. Everyone you've mentioned above, has the memories, and that's what counts!
You may contact me here, or in my email (see left of this page at the "Toolbox" and press 'E-mail this user'), whichever suits you. Cheers, -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 12:49, 15 July 2012 (UTC)

Unfair editing of Surigao City wiki.

I'm been contributing on this site and writing articles from scratch close to 10 years now. However, during the past three months, unknown editors came here and deleted my posts with no explanation or request to rewrite the articles to wiki standards. Most people told me how helpful the site was before the editing, not now. The current remaining article is mostly written by me. I'm disappointment how some editors here act so disrespectful and dictatorial. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Philbern1 (talkcontribs) 03:53, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

Myles Heskett page

Hello - just trying to update Myles Heskett's page to include announcement about his new band Good Heavens. Not sure why users are trying to redirect constantly to Wolfmother page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Heya1982 (talkcontribs) 06:45, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi Heya1982, and welcome to Wikipedia!
The non-notable band memeber, of the notable band, should not have it's own article. Per our policies on biographies, if the band is notable, it's only the band that is notable per se. All the sources in that redirected band member's article are related to the band, and not independently him. Hope that makes sense. -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 06:51, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

He has a new band, has signed to a new label and just released a new single. http://www.riceisnice.net/news/good-heavens-release-first-single/ I was making those edits when you reinstated the redirect. He is also a visual artist and had a public exhibition last year. http://www.martgallery.com.au/exhibitions/ He is notable - as distinct from his time in Wolfmother - and should have a stand alone page. --Heya1982 (talk) 07:00, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

These are not secondary reliable sources rather primary sources. Until the individual has secondary reliable sources and clearly has demonstrated notability out of Wolfmother, the article is redirected. -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 07:02, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi MelbourneStar. Please see my talk page for a response to the "edit war" which I really don't want to continue as I'm sure you don't. As suggested I'd be happy to come to a consensus before pursuing any further edits. I consider Myles Heskett (let's start with that page before we get on to Chris Ross) as a notable individual. To support my statement above, here are reputable secondary sources.

Myles' artistic work and exhibition: http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/miles-and-myles-on-wolf-trail/story-fn6b3v4f-1226023491423

Myles interviewed as a member of The Slew: http://www.thevine.com.au/music/interviews/myles-heskett-of-the-slew-talks-turntables-wolfmother-and-rock-dogs/

Myles as a part of the new band is getting national airplay on Triple J: http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/homeandhosed/playlist/s3547954.htm

I'd like to undo the redirection and make those edits. I'd appreciate your support in my doing so. Thanks. --Heya1982 (talk) 10:14, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

I've replied to your message on your talk page. Now, firstly, let's not get too ahead of ourselves. Remember, Wikipedia ain't going to walk away tomorrow or next week, or in decade.
Independant notability, is not what concerns me, or what would concern anyone else who's been here for a while, and see's what's happing to articles. Another key issue, is the fact, that a lot of the content on the Myles Heskett article is unsourced (there are no sources to verify the claims) - that's a big no, no, espeicially for a Biography of a living person. If you were to pursue this article, you'd need to weed out all the unsourced content, some may be trivial, and some content may even be controversial (which would definately need to be weeded out if unsourced).
Back on to independent notability - if this does not work out, you lot aren't the only ones. I think it'd be fair to say, unfortunately too in my opinion, One Direction are perhaps the most notable band presently. All 5 band members have starred in shows; movies; live shows; written books; sung with other superstars; made millions of dollars; a fan base nearly too big ...etc. Would you guess how many have their own seperate articles? none. They have been getting reliable sources coming from all directions of the world, yet not one has an article. Consensus regarding individual articles for these superstars, was a very clear, "no" (Have a look at the discussion and read, because there are a few valid points).
Lastly, IF articles for each band member were to go ahead, I'd ask you go ahead with creating them slowly. Don't rush, because rushing could end up here or just be redirected. I can help you.
On a seperate note, this site and its articles on the band member's post departure = very good start!
One more thing before I forget: WP:MUSBIO - read it carefully and ask yourself: "does the article I want to create pass all/most of the criteria stated?" Thank you, -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 11:41, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi MelbourneStar. Sorry this is getting confusing going backwards and forwards between talk pages. I'm happy to keep the chat here from now on?

Thanks for your assistance by the way. I understand the points you're making. I guess my point is that I'm not creating an article, I actually just went in to edit an article that already existed, to make it stronger and more relevant. Thanks. I've posted what I wrote on my own talk page below:

Hi MelbourneStar. Thanks again for your comments. I understand that you're defining "notable"by Wikipedia's guidelines. I've found all that in doing research on Myles Heskett because I Google searched him today, saw a snippet of his Wikipedia page and wanted to read more but when I clicked on it was redirected to the Wolfmother page. Seeing the history of Heskett's page now it's clear there is a lot more to learn about him and his achievements post-Wolfmother. The page existed as a standalone until just a few days ago. Now more than ever, with the release of Good Heavens new single (why I Googled him in the first place) there are relevant updates to his page and maybe a renewed public interest - I'm counting myself here. Instead of going to many different sources for information like I had to, Wikipedia could be the definitive source of info like it is for other notable entities.

It would be so much easier to make those edits to a page that already exists, and I don't really see why his bio should sit inside the Wolfmother page when he is no longer in the band and has a new band. I just want to be clear that I'm trying to strengthen Wikipedia's offering by editing an existing page, not weaken it by undoing a redirection. Thanks. --Heya1982 (talk) 11:46, 31 July 2012 (UTC) --Heya1982 (talk) 11:54, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

If you'd like our discussions to stay on this talk page, then that is totally fine.
I see and understand what you mean. It's an absolute pain in the neck when you going onto google looking for something, then you go onto Wikipedia thinking you'd find what you're looking for - and then you are at a dead end when you don't. Our rules and guidlines need to be a little more lenient in my opinion.
If you find a lot of secondary sources focussing on their post-Wolfmother career, you should have no issues in creating the article (over the redirect), and I can assist you with doing that, but, these things take time, and miracles do happen, so patience is the key. If these band members are truly "different" people from the ones they were on Wolfmother, then a seperate article is possible. -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 12:03, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

I'm not sure why a miracle is required here :) I'm just willing and able to edit an existing article. But I'm prepared to do a bit more research to support my edits. Thanks! --Heya1982 (talk) 12:20, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Please don't use the word notable with me again. It clearly has a very subjective meaning and there is no use arguing over it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.22.188.66 (talk) 07:11, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Before I reply, I strongly suggest you (all?) take a read of our policy on Conflict of Interest's. If you are representing a member of Wolfmother, you have a conflict of interest.
That being said, this is just Wikipedia, so I recommend not getting upset over a website. Secondly, I'm abiding by Wikipedia's policies on biographies of living people - by defintion, the band's members are not individually notable. The band, as a whole, is. But each member, by themselves, are not, despite what you may think. The band is known world-wide, no one can steal their fame. -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 07:28, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Hello ! Removal of content from Oriya language by me was genuine and intentional. I did remove uncited psnl opinion that were blatant lies. It all started on dt.28.7.2012 (13:39 hr) when i rmd 661 bytes with edit smry. It was rv by Karan1974 citing 'nonconstructive'. How? I rv for my prev smry. On dt. 31.7.2012 Psubhashish added content that were not reliable, as source is not readable. So i rvd. When i rvd and was viewing preview the site hanged and could not write edit smry and saved without knowing whether changes were saved or not. The article has many exagerations amounting to utter lies like the citation-3,4,5 do not justify the statement. Thank u. 49.200.75.210 (talk) 15:36, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

The sources cited, are books on the subject in question - I don't see how they are personal analyses. If you still feel there are issues, perhaps bringing everyone up to speed on the article's talk page, is appropriate. Also, could you please next time use edit summaries to help distinguish good faithed edits (yours) to edits of someone who is vandalizing. Thanks, -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 06:01, 1 August 2012 (UTC)

My addition to Battle Cry article

Please understand that this is my first entry to Wikipedia, so I'm new to the system!

All I wanted to do was to highlight the portions of the book that told of the experiences of the characters while in training in San Diego, and especially in New Zealand. These represent a significant part of the book, occupying over 200 pages, comprising most of Part 3 and all of Part 4. They present an interesting insight into how young American soldiers found life in a culturally different, foreign - but friendly - country as they prepared for battles in the Pacific region.

I don't understand what, or if a citation applies as all I've done is highlight part of the content of the book.

BKess (talk) 05:56, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia!
Now that this has been properly explained (which I encourage you continue to do, perhaps in the edit summary) the content has been added back into the article - allowed as a primary source. Thank you, -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 04:44, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I did not edit this page. There are a lot of people that use this same system, and also use the same IP. In the future, if you see this IP appear for editing, There is no way to tell who did it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.0.222.195 (talk) 16:20, 2 August 2012 (UTC)

hi

The user is banned and he is just trolling. No need to preserve trolling, enough is enough already. 84.106.26.81 (talk) 10:10, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

The user has not been "banned", rather temporarily blocked for matters that do not concern the topic in question. Either way, the comment from the user - and it's replier's comment, do seem legitimate, and therefore have merit on the talk page. If you have any concerns, you may by all means create a new discussion - but please in the future don't blank other people's comments/sections. Thank you, -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 10:31, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for your messages,

In my view, the article talk page is not a place to celebrate driving other users off wikipedia.

It is not that I don't apriciate your effort but not everything is worth keeping :-)

Hope you understand,

84.106.26.81 (talk) 10:40, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Just following the rules/guidelines set out by the Wikipedia community, which state you cannot blank other people's comments just because you don't agree with them. If the editor had clearly attacked another editor, then of course the section can be removed - however the section in question appears to be otherwise. -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 13:58, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Aziz Shavershian in 2011.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Aziz Shavershian in 2011.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:50, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

No, you simply cannot remove content at your own discretion without telling others what you are doing. Please think of others, by simply writing what you are doing in the edit summary, prior to reverting content - regardless if you think it's irrelevant or not. We hope you enjoy maintaining Wikipedia with STiki! If you have any questions, problems, or suggestions don't hesitate to drop a note over at the STiki talk page and we'll be more than happy to help. Again, welcome, and thanks! West.andrew.g (developer) and DBigXray 15:27, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

are you kidding me???

The STiki user interface showing an incidence of vandalism. The buttons for classifying edits are on the left. The links for deeper investigation are near the bottom in "last revert" and "edit properties". The text box in the bottom left corner allows the user to modify the edit summary that is left when reverting. At the bottom of the Edit properties Box you can see a line Comment: which shows the Edit summary written while making the edit. the blank line here shows the editor did not give any edit summary.

"Hello, I'm MelbourneStar. I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your recent contributions, such as the one you made to Berufsakademie Mosbach, because it didn't appear constructive. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page2

the change i did on the berufakademie Mosbach page is legit i corected the name of the town because the town is calld Bad Mergentheim and not Mergentheim (I added the Bad) thats the name of the town, calling this not constuctive is like a bad joke...

iu mean you are right correcting wrong (or here incomplete) town names is basicly some kind of spaming right - i mean you am i that i am suppost to thing there should be correct infonmation on wikipedia

and its not like you could have easily checked it so here it is again it is Bad Mergentheim 134.3.76.108 (talk) 12:31, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Just a passing note. Placing the {{uw-editsummary}} on IP/new user's talk page is also helpful to prevent such misunderstandings in future.--DBigXray 14:36, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, I'll remember that one! I was using STiki when I made the above error - although the editor did not use edit summaries in the first place - I don't think STiki shows them (that I know of...still new to this tool). Thanks again, -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 14:42, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
Yeah I am aware of this missing feature (of not giving option of using templates other than vandalism templates) in STiki. But if an editor posts on your talk page next time angry about your revert, you could then post {{uw-editsummary}} on his talk page (using Twinkle>warn> single issue notices). Will not only save you but also save other RC patrollers from future embarrassments of such kind --DBigXray 14:50, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
Oh I'm not terribly embarrassed from this mistake - just grateful, that I have learnt a lesson or two :D Well, first time using STiki today, and I've been using Twinkle prior, so I'll swap between the two, to ultimately save the other patrollers ;) thanks & regards, -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 14:59, 11 August 2012 (UTC)

STiki does show the edit summary see the image and the caption. Sorry I missed that in my earlier comment i was under the impression that you were talking about the {{uw-editsummary}} using STiki (which at the moment is not possible).--DBigXray 00:12, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Geez DBig, you just keep on giving! thank you for that :) - I'm also loving this new tool. Who knew reverting vandalism could be so fun an addictive? -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 14:30, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
Well indeed I am in total agreement with you on the last statement. Here is a list of other addicts . By the way you can channel in your praises to WT:STiki, Andrew and others will be glad to hear your experience.--DBigXray 15:45, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Crime in Qatar

Hi , I see that you reverted the article 'crime in qatar'. To be honest, the whole thing is going to need a rewrite. The information is frankly inaccurate, and the CIA world factbook citation either isn't valid, or is impossible to find. I find the entire article rather disparaging and very political, when in fact qatar does have real problems with rising property crime which are not addressed in exchange for sensationalist stories about 'modern slavery' and terrorism. The labour issue is a big one, and has been for years, but to imply that the state supports the mass import of workers into the country so that they can be sodomised en masse is beyond ludicrous. Qatar is today, the only country in the region that has labour rights, and a government department for labour rights, and a right to unionisation, albeit these are developments only occurred in the last 4 years, but at the very least, the nation is makes an earnest attempt to treat migrant workers well. As for the citations from the government of Australia , they either do not exist, or they're too difficult to find. I'm willing to bet any amount of money that today, there is no government that thinks travelling to Qatar is dangerous, and to suggest that it is so without concrete proof is simply prejudiced. There has never been any threat of Al-Qaeda, and the Egyptian who ran his car into a the theatre was never proved to be linked to anyone.

I'm well-aware that deleting big chunks of articles is generally not a good idea, but the reality is that it was so far off that I wouldn't be willing to keep any of it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.220.44.103 (talk) 08:34, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

If you are well-aware that deleting big chunks of content from articles "is generally not a good idea" - then, please don't do so, in the future. The content that you claim to be innacurate, is sourced - and the sources cited, are reliable. This issue, is one that should be discussed with the community on the article's talk page - rather reverting slabs of information. Thank you, -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 08:40, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

Assiti Shards series

My edit to Assiti Shards article was a slight factual correction. If you read this prologue to the first novel in the series: http://www.baen.com/chapters/hole_p.htm you will see the shards in question were not intended as an artwork, they only were byproducts of Assiti artworks. Dangerous industrial waste, one may say. I think this detail is important to the novels and affects their overall tone. Please undo your reversion.

By the way, this IP is shared between several thousands of users, and I have nothing to do with any other recent edits from this IP.

95.221.139.69 (talk) 14:03, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Yep, that's totally fine. I have reverted my edit, and yours is in the clear! :) could you also, when editing in the future, perhaps use an edit summary too? It helps others understand your edits. Thank you, -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 14:27, 13 August 2012 (UTC)
OK. I usually do write a summary. In this case I was lasy, because the summary would be longer than the edit. 95.221.139.69 (talk) 14:51, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Not only is this person non-notable calling him names, such as "grumpy", is in violation of our policies on biographies as well as many others. You know he's grumpy, the other dozen people do too - that's great, keep it to yourselves, rather an encyclopedia. Thanks, -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 07:57, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

Blackfoot Language

Hello, I am a Blackfoot linguist. I changed the spelling of the Blackfoot words to reflect the orthography which the tribe designed decades ago. The individual who tried spelling out those words I corrected, albeit a good attempt, were grossly wrong. Imagine spelling the word "turtle" as "terdle" in English. While I'm not sure what you mean by "constructive", there are many indigenous languages currently undergoing developing and standardization of their writing systems. This attempt to edit and codify spellings of words is highly political and ought to be respected. Perhaps this should be a discussion about this among the folk who watchguard over Wikipedia?

Are you able to change it back?

Thank you, Dr. William Welch — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.208.82.174 (talk) 02:20, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi Dr. Welch, and welcome to Wikipedia!
I reverted your edits to the article, in regards to the specific changes to those words, due to the fact they are sourced, with a reliable source - "The Journal of American Folklore. In the link provided, you will be able to search for the, so-claimed "grossly wrong" spelt words - and they appear in the text - rather the spelling you've got.
Without explaining your changes, in the edit summary, they appeared unconstructive to me. If you have a reliable source that states otherwise, please do provide it. Thank you, -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 06:32, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited List of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit characters, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hector Salazar (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Why did you revert my edit?!

You've reverted the edit I've done on Torchlight II, concerning its release date. I've ADDED my SOURCES also. You can check by yourself : go to http://store.steampowered.com/app/200710/ , add to cart, and see the date. So, if both indications (summer and september) from steam are correct, this game would be released between the first and the 22 september this year. Anyway, if I'm false, the game will be released in the next 12 days (from now indeed). If I'm wrong and the game is released after the 22th, you're even MORE wrong than I am, since it will be autumn. So please, go see the steam store, check this, and revert your changes to my modifications, so people can have a more accurate release date estimation. Thanks !

Oh and, no, I won't register an account. If you wanna reply, do so here, I'll check this page in some time.

PS: if you wanted, you could have seen that I explained all this on the talk page of the Torchlight II page... -87.146.220.248 (talk) 12:32, 19 August 2012 (UTC)

I didn't revert your edit based on facts - I reverted it because "add to cart and then see cart" sounds like an advertisement to me. -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 12:36, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Checking a fact sounds like an advertisement? Gosh... What does it take? A screen capture of the cart? Writing to valve, asking them for putting the same information everywhere? Plus, if you need even MORE evidence, there is a post on RPS that quotes Runic president Travis Baldree : “The end of summer is September 25th or something like that, right? We’re still trying to get it done for summer. It’s a big game and we’ve still got some polish to go.” -87.146.220.248 (talk) 13:14, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
"RPS" looks like a blog - which is not a reliable source - perhaps, patience is a key, and we should add a date when other secondary reliable sources pop up? I mean, the article isn't going to walk away.. Because, there's always a chance that the date could be completely wrong, or the developers change a few things around - and we've reported the wrong things. -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 13:18, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Is a magazine a reliable enough source for Wikipedia? -87.146.220.248 (talk) 13:22, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Can you provide the magazine? -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 13:23, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
I can't, but surely there are people who have the printed version of this : http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/07/19/torchlight-2-release-date-still-planned-for-this-summer/. Would a pdf be okay? -87.146.220.248 (talk) 13:25, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Although I still question that site's verifiability, this quote from that site/(or magazine?) "Torchlight II still lacks a firm release date, but Runic president Travis Baldree tells Joystiq that it’s still on for this summer. “The end of summer is September 25th or something like that, right?” said Baldree. “We’re still trying to get it done for summer. It’s a big game and we’ve still got some polish to go." Tells us that things have not yet been confirmed, and therefore shouldn't be included into the article, per WP:CRYSTAL. I suggest waiting for the official release date, confirmed, and then we add it in - this won't be too far away, considering it's August already. -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 13:33, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
While I do agree on the fact that torchlight lacks a firm release date (this is no news), I don't see how "Summer 2012" is a firm release date... -87.146.220.248 (talk) 13:54, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
Mhmm true. I will remove that date, and add a note asking other editors to add a reliable source when adding the confirmed release date. -- MSTR (Chat Me!) 14:01, 19 August 2012 (UTC)
