Howdy

Hi! We've reverted some of the same vandals a couple of times and I've been meaning to say that I definitely dig the colors in your signature. ;) Regards, • CinchBug20:41, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Heh, what a coincidence! We have the same colour scheme! --[midnight comet] [talk] 23:39, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Hey guys, what's up? Oh, I see. Late again. Grrr, Lord Spongefrog, (I am a flesh-eating robot) 18:51, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

P.S. Have you been stalking my page MC? Not that I mind, you just seemed to know spontaneously when I got 4000 . Lord Spongefrog, (I am a flesh-eating robot) 18:51, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Maybe a little =P --[midnight comet] [talk] 20:02, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
That's fine. You never know when some "clearly retarded infantile vandal" is going to hit your pages with obscene images, so there's no such thing as too many stalkers. But consider yourself being stalked (can you imagine how that would sound I said it in real life), Lord Spongefrog, (I am a flesh-eating robot) 20:14, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
That would be really creepy. Wait, who's that guy in the room with me? =P --[midnight comet] [talk] 20:17, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

Dear you can search the web regarding the profile artist devender singh, he is well known indian artist and i dont think the page should be deleated for any chance. The material is copyighted but can be used for encyclopedia's like this, and for good usage, if their's any need to contact the auther he can be contacted at contact@devendersinghartist.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sumeet157 (talkcontribs)

I tagged your image for deletion, not the page. However, you shouldn't copy material from other websites, even if it can be used, someone's still going to tag it for deletion. I suggest you write it in your own words. About the image, you need to add the appropriate Copyright license tag (see here for a list.) --[midnight comet] [talk] 15:40, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Ahhhh... I had a great message, but I clicked the cancel button. Great, now look what you made me do. :) Anyway, I think theres a typo on the WOTD page. It says that in August the first week will repeats of people who didn't get WOTW in August. Am I reading this wrong?Abce2|Aww nuts!Wribbit!(Sign here) 22:20, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

I think you read it wrong; I don't see any errors. Here's the text copied from the September section: This cycle will run from August 31 to September 25. September will consist of 20 recipents; 20 WOTDs, 15 all new WOTDs, 4 WOTWs, and 1 WOTM. Like August, the first week will consist of repeats from August, and these repeats will be users who did not recieve WOTW in August. --[midnight comet] [talk] 00:20, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Dave

Would you care to explain why you have repeatedly deleted my edit on Dave? Eskandary000 (talk) 04:36, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

  1. You removed a large amount of content to replace it with non-notable Daves
  2. You added nonsense to the article and said that Dave is a discriminating form of David.

--[midnight comet] [talk] 13:45, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

I understand that was vandalism, so I did not put that up the second and third and fourth time. You may not be familiar to Dave from stickam, however he is a well known person. Saying the he is a featured host is not vandalism, therefore it shouldn't not be deleted. Thank youEskandary000 (talk) 23:39, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi,

I have been trying over the last few days to get a decent objective definition of a Jubilee Clip which I felt was lacking. I have no axe to grind other than to try and improve the quality of Wikipedia generally - my only connection is as an end user of jubilee clips and the fact that I happen to live in the UK.

Anyway, as part of my research, I traced the company who registered the first patent for them anywhere in the world (which happens to be a UK company) and they have been very helpful in providing factual information about the early history which I have tried to reproduce faithfully in the entry. They also provided me with a picture of the inventor (not yet uploaded) and a picture of some Jubilee Clips which, in good faith, I did upload. I filtered out marketing information which I felt was not sufficiently objective.

Much to my surprise, I see you have marked the image as a CSD and for the life of me I can't see why. So far as I can see, the picture shows precisely the object that the entry is seeking to describe. Please could you explain?

Many thanks in advance,

Sebh007 (talk) 23:19, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

You need to add a copyright license tag to your image, so we know it's copyright status. A list can be found here. --[midnight comet] [talk] 00:40, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

igloo

Hi Midnight Comet, and thanks for your interest in igloo. Before using the program, please read the following information carefully - failure to do so may result in your test access being revoked.

igloo is a JavaScript-powered, browser-based anti-vandalism tool, which means you do not have to download or install anything on your computer and it will work on multiple operating systems. However, it does mean that the performance relies on that of your browser and it may operate more slowly than downloaded programs. You must have either Mozilla Firefox 3+ or Google Chrome to use igloo, as it is currently incompatible with other browsers.

igloo relies on a system called iglooNet to assist you in finding and reverting vandalism. It is this system that transforms the program from a pretty version of recent changes to an actual anti-vandalism tool. Naturally, this is beyond the power of a client-side program, and igloo will regularly communicate with an external, non-Wikimedia server. Because of things like server logs, and the iglooNet abuse tracker, this may allow your IP address to be attached to your username - something which is otherwise impossible on Wikipedia. If you do not want this to happen, you MUST NOT USE IGLOO.

If you decide that you do want to test igloo, please keep in mind that it not wholly stable, and you may experience problems where it performs an invalid edit, or other unwanted action. If this happens, fix any mistakes you've made, apologise to anyone you've offended, and let me know. I don't take any responsibility for your use of the program - if you aren't willing to fix any errors, don't use it.

igloo is already quite powerful. The following is a simple guide to using the program:

  • The igloo interface is similar to that of other software, including huggle. Recent changes appear on the left, and diffs appear on the right.
  • igloo sorts diffs based on iglooNet data so that edits most likely to be vandalism are displayed first. You can press spacebar to view the top diff, or click on any diff to view it directly.
  • When you find vandalism, press 'Q' or click the revert button to revert the change, and issue a warning to the user. igloo automatically issues the correct warning. It will ignore existing warnings that are more than 5 days old, and restart from the beginning.
  • The iglooNet assertion system tags clean and dirty edits with colour coding - if it suspects an edit is vandalism, it will be flagged as red, and if it believes it to be clean, it will tag it green.
  • At any time, you can re-review diffs you have already seen by pressing backspace to move through the diff history.

If you have any questions, comments, suggestions or other feedback, I'd love to know. If you hate it, and won't be using it again, please let me know why - and I'll remove you from the test whitelist. If you now try and use igloo, you should find that it will allow you to use the program. Thanks, and good luck! Ale_Jrbtalk 14:23, 4 September 2009 (UTC)

You're very welcome. :) *hugs back* Anyway, how do you feel about adminship? Your anti-vandalism work and copyright knowledge would make you a great admin, IMO, though I unfortunately doubt you'd pass since you've only been here about 2 and a half months. However, it should certainly be something to consider in December or January. Cheers, Dylan620 (contribs, logs)help us! 00:08, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
I have thought of it before. I'm not in any rush to become an admin, but I may consider it in December/January. I wouldn't mind waiting a little longer than I have to. Cheers! --[midnight comet] [talk] 00:13, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
That's fine. I'll check back on Christmas and ask you if you would like to run then. Anyway, could you please give me a crash course in copyright? I will admit that copyright is one of my weak areas, and I believe that copyright knowledge will come in handy as I am planning on running the RfA gauntlet myself sometime in December. Cheers, Dylan620 (contribs, logs)help us! 00:19, 7 September 2009 (UTC)
What I do is I sometimes patrol the Upload log and look for images without a Copyright license tag by tagging them with {{di-no license}} (Twinkle has a "di" tab for tagging images for deletion). Twinkle will automatically notify the uploader about the deletion and if they don't add a tag in a week, the image will be deleted. It would probably be a plus for running for adminship, though I don't think "User has not demonstrated copyright knowledge" is a common oppose reason. If you do end up doing it, just be prepared for messages saying "Why's my image tagged for deletion?" or "It's my own image and therefore has no copyright." Cheers! --[midnight comet] [talk] 00:26, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Photo deletion

Hi there Midnight Comet. Cheers for the info regarding photo copyrights (regarding the Great Stone of Fourstones photo). Since you left me a message, the user Snigbrook has added the copyright holders of the photo. Is this all that needs doing, or does it need more? (Will Hambling 12:52, 9 September 2009 (UTC))

I have no ide-...wait, I'm not Midnight Comet. Damn, thought I was someone else again. By the way, is yoursignature meant to be like that? The whole thing is linked, instead of individual links to the user and talk pages, so the link doesn't go anywhere. Or is it supposed to do that, Lord Spongefrog, (I am the Czar of all Russias!) 16:18, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
It doesn't need anything else. Cheers! --[midnight comet] [talk] 20:37, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
