Abuse filter question

{{helpme}}

I've been editing since yesterday, and I've triggered the abuse filter many times when I'm reverting vandalism. Is there anything I can do to stop triggering it? Will it stop triggering when I'm autoconfirmed? I've noticed that most other vandal fighters only triggered the filter a few times. --Midnight Comet 23:42, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi! Thanks for helping to fight vandalism! Yeah you may want to take a read here. I see you are tripping the filter just for editing. This should stop as soon as you are autoconfirmed. Triggering the filter isn't really a bad thing, so I wouldn't worry about it. It should stop happening soon. Happy editing!--Gordonrox24 | Talk 01:35, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks! --Midnight Comet 01:39, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

June 2009

Hello. When you patrol new pages, all articles that you have looked at should be marked patrolled, whether you marked them for deletion or deemed them acceptable, unless you are not sure. This saves time and work by informing fellow patrollers of your review of the page so that they do not duplicate efforts. Thank you. Intelligentsium 17:58, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip! I'm not yet autoconfirmed though, so I can't mark pages as patrolled yet. But I'll start once I'm autoconfirmed. Thanks! --Midnight Comet 18:00, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

I am extremely grateful for the barnstar. Thanks for the recognition and keep up the work you've been doing too;)Stay in touch(if you need to ask anything...feel free to do so):DSchnitzelMannGreek. 19:04, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

Cheers:D

  • I am extremely grateful for the "Wikipedian of the Day", it totally made my day:D. I appreciated it so much and wanted to thank you but didn't know how. So here's a wiki-cake. Its like an award(well it is ,in a way)that promotes wiki-love and can be collected with other awards as well. You have come a far way so far, especially considering that you've been on here for a short time. Good job creating this award!Enjoy, happy editing! Cheers:DSchnitzelMannGreek. 01:49, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
Yummy! ;) Hey, you deserve getting the Wikipedian of the Day award. I'm not the first user to do it, but I think I'm the first to have a "Wikipedian of the Week" award and a "Wikipedian of the Month" award. Keep up the great work yourself :-). --Midnight Comet 01:55, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Your opinion

Good Day;) I wanted to ask you, what do you think of my new created article:2,000 Romanian Lei Note. I made this today(which is why I haven't done as much vandal reverting which I will soon;))SchnitzelMannGreek. 16:43, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

It's great! I added {{uncategorized}} and made small changes to the headings to follow MOS. Great job! --Midnight Comet 17:12, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

(outdent)I'm sorry I haven't been as active with vandal-fighting today, I've been in creating new articles and expanding stubs. This article Zia (New Mexico) was a stub and I pretty much wrote it and expanded it today. What do you think?SchnitzelMannGreek. 23:56, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

I don't care what you do on Wikipedia, just as long as it's for the good. :) Great job! You improved it quite a bit from what it was before. --Midnight Comet 00:49, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the schnitzel pepper..now I could put it on my dinner :-)SchnitzelMannGreek. 02:01, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Not a problem! Bon appétit:) --Midnight Comet 02:11, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Barnstar-You deserve it :-)

The Tireless Contributor Barnstar
For all you've done and for the great contributions towards vandalism, "Wikipedian of the..." and other stuff you've helped with, I hearby award you this Tireless Contributor barnstar. You've been on wikipedia for about a week so far, yet you have done SO MUCH:). Thanks and keep it up! SchnitzelMannGreek. 14:07, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

I cannot. I have modified my email adress in the preferences and I changed the password without looking at this (just typed antyhing in wordpad and then copied pasted this). So this is the end for this account. I am under IP and I want to redirect this. If I would lie, it would take 5 minutes for the user to modify this. You can send an email to him/me. You will see there is no answer given the email is not valid... 81.244.182.215 (talk) 15:11, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Are you able to confirm this (maybe by say making a change on another wiki logged in confirming this is you, so other vandal fighters don't mistake it for vandalism). --Midnight Comet 15:14, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the idea - good way to solve the issue : [1]. Is this ok ? 81.244.182.215 (talk) 15:16, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Yep, that'll do. Cheers, --Midnight Comet 15:18, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for your understanding. And thank you for taking care of the difficult issue of vandalism in wikipedia. That is not always easy. Sorry for the troubles and the lost time. Cheers, 81.244.182.215 (talk) 15:19, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

You're correct that non-admins shouldn't remove AIV reports, but helpful comments like [2] are indeed allowed and are greatly appreciated. So feel free to do more of that in future if you happen to notice things - thanks. :) ~ mazca talk 21:09, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

Ok, thanks! :) --Midnight Comet 21:13, 3 July 2009 (UTC)

You're the best!

Thank you very much for "wikipedian of the week" that made me feel much much better now. It has been a long day with the vandals and I got attack over 10 times. Yet this is a VERY pleasing reward. Thanks and KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK:)SchnitzelMannGreek. 00:28, 4 July 2009 (UTC)

You are a really great user. You certainly deserve the award! You're a nice user who works very hard. I got attacked 14 times by a single user on my first day! Happy editing, and you keep up the great work as well :) --Midnight Comet 01:32, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
Hey Midnight Comet, how's it going? Thought I'd drop in and say good-bye. I'm going on vacation for 11 days and won't be active after today till July 17. See you then. After the trip, I'll go back to fighting the vandals hard;)Good Luck. By the way, you should apply for rollbacker:DSchnitzelMannGreek. 00:26, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Have a nice vacation! I'll miss you. I might apply for rollback in like a week or two; I doubt I'll get approved now since I'm only like a week old. --Midnight Comet 00:30, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Cheers

For clearing the vandalism from my talkpage. Much appreciated. Crafty (talk) 22:05, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

I've noticed your hard work on articles and new page patrolling, and I think you deserve a lot recognition for your work. Keep it up! --Midnight Comet 02:05, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

I really appreciate it. Heck, I don't think I've ever done so much editing in a single week. sixtynine • spill it • 02:18, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

award

I'm not sure what your exact criteria are for your "awards" but you may want to look a little closer in the future before rewarding a user for ignoring [3] notices and editing advice [4] from fellow users and dismissing others [5] as "nonsensical and biased." Doesn't look like "kindness to other users" to me. The fact that he removed anything that might reflect negatively on him while up for this award isn't exactly the kind of behavior that should be rewarded either. Beeblebrox (talk) 03:25, 11 July 2009 (UTC)

Although I disagree with her removing the one as "nonsensical and biased", she's just removing comments, which is allowed. Other than that one, she hasn't done anything that I can see that's bad. --Midnight Comet 13:40, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
  • While it is allowed, it's not really a good practice to simply ignore attempts to communicate about editing issues. Improper CSD noms waste the time of other users, and this person simply dismissed all attempts to point out the problem without comment. Anyway, it's your award, and I'm not suggesting you retract it or anything, but this isn't my idea of exemplary behavior deserving of praise. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:13, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Ready?

To apply for rollback? I've seen you around a lot with your use of Twinkle for vandal fighting, and I personally think that it would be a big plus if you used Huggle, which requires rollback. All the best, Dylan620 (contribs, logs) 17:57, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

I've applied for rollback. If I get it, I might get huggle sometime in the future. I'm not sure yet. Happy editing! --Midnight Comet 18:07, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Got it. :) --Midnight Comet 18:10, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Congrats! I knew you'd get it. :) Feel free to test it out at WP:NAS/R (like I did here when I first got rollback). Best, Dylan620 (contribs, logs) 18:13, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for reverting vandalism on my userpage. I'm proud when I get someone upset enough for them to vandalize my userpage. It shows I'm doing something right! I'm curious. Do edits to admin userpages show up special on automated tools like Twinkle, or did you happen across the vandalism? Vandalism to my userpage is almost always reverted in a few minutes, so I usually find out many hours later. Royalbroil 00:22, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Not a problem! As far as I know, no types of edits are marked somehow on twinkle. So I just happened to be RC patrolling and I came across the vandalism. :) Happy editing! --Midnight Comet 01:51, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Abuse reports, interested?

Hi! I believe we've contacted each other in the past! I'm aware of your dedication to fighting vandalism on Wikipedia, which I can easily see when using Huggle, since sometimes you revert the vandalism faster than I can (nice job!). Since we have the common interest, I'd like to introduce you to a Wikipedia project that you might be interested in, Wikipedia:Abuse reports. Abuse reports handles repeat IP vandals that have been blocked several times, but continue to be a problem. This is done by contacting the organization responsible for the IP address. It would be great to have you as a new member of the project, but entirely understandable if you feel this is not for you. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions, and thanks for your time! Netalarm 15:10, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

I don't know much about IP adresses and the organisations that are responsible for them. Sorry, but this isn't for me. Cheers, --Midnight Comet 15:15, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Messages from User:Eganjt

Back Off

Or at least read what you are reverting first. Thanks for reverting MY user page (hmm, bet that didn't cross your mind, woulda have to have THOUGHT about what you were doing first). Please do not touch User:Eganjt again.

Ok, that's what I wanted to write after seeing how hastily and unmindfully you reverted my user page in an attempt to fight vandalism. Then I read a couple of the posts on your talk page and you seem like a nice enough guy, so I'll just leave it as please take a second to research what you revert, because you did it literally before I could see the change.

My apologies

I understand you are just trying to help. I apologize for getting upset when you reverted my user page, even though I tried to explain to you, and the several editors before you, that I was indeed the user eganjt. One of your editors has threated to contact my ISP because he so adamantly belives I should sign in to edit my own page, even though that is not required. I don't wish to take it this far, I don't need the drama. I'm sorry I didn't AGF with you.Eganjt (talk) 18:57, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

It's okay. Although it's technically not required, it's best to make major edits to your userpage while logged in. Otherwise people are going to revert your edits as vandalism. --[midnight comet] [talk] 21:45, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for that, I'm very flattered and you made my day :-). - Jeffrey Mall | Talk2Me | BNosey - 14:43, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi

You probably noticed that I haven't been as active with anti-vandalism lately but I have been on;) I was expanding article Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino and wrote Spice Market Buffet with the help of pictures I go from my trip(see User:SchnitzelMannGreek/Gallery). If you have time, can you review my work? I'm going to take a break from articles and start "anti-vandalism" and hitting Huggle today);)--SchnitzelMannGreek. 13:44, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Hello SMG! Both articles are great. Imo, they sound a bit like advertisements; they could be toned down a bit. Other than that, they're great. Happy editing! --[midnight comet] [talk] 13:56, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

BS

What a Brilliant Idea Barnstar
Even though Wikipedia already had a "Wikipedian of the Day", your version of "Wikipedian of the..." was a splendid idea. For all the work you put into doing that, especially as the month draws to a close, I truely felt that you deserved this;) SchnitzelMannGreek. 15:10, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

You've been loved by Javert

Hey there! Javert has loved you by placing a heart icon in the top-right corner of your userpage. Don't worry, it's not vandalism, but simply a small way to spread the WikiLove. If you don't really like it, feel free to revert it and make it go away, and no hard feelings; after all, it's just a small token of appreciation. If you like it, just add your name here, but again, there's no need to feel upset if you don't. Love and best wishes, Javert I knit sweaters, yo! 02:34, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Abuse Reports

I noticed that someone asked you if you wanted to join the "abuse report group" and you didn't want to. In my case, I am actually intrested in that. If it isn't much trouble, can you recommend me for that to the guy that asked you. Thanks, friend:)SchnitzelMannGreek. 00:11, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Yep, I'll do that in a minute. --[midnight comet] [talk] 00:20, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
Hi! I got your message, and I'm going to post to SchnitzelMannGreek's talk page to give him more iformation about abuse reports. Thanks! =D Netalarm 12:19, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Quick note

Hey, this is just a quick note. Having spent a lot of time on recent changes patrol, previously, I know it's easy to make the occasional mistake here and there, but I still do want to point out a particular reversion you made at Oklahoma Highway Patrol (now suppressed, or I'd link the diff), where you restored blanked content including the following...

Not a very nice snippet
In fact [redacted] is the only member of his family who doesn't have a prison record. His wife (who happens to also be his sister) has won Hustler Magazine's coveted "Beaver Hunt" award 8 years in a row starting in 2001

Re: Wikipedian of the Day (again)

Do I honestly deserve it again? :D If so, then thank you very much.
