Re: About the headcrab article

[edit]

Thanks for notifying. I've just made some additional modifications on the sandbox version to include a few justified edits (the images of the fast and poison headcrabs, and the claim of "taming" a headcrab in the Lamarr section). Feel free to include this revision as you see fit. Thanks again for helping. :) ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 16:21, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

HL2 Character Headshots

[edit]

I am posting this here so there can be a common place for this discussion.

User GaMeRuInEr has recently gone through every single HL2 character article and added, or replaced, the main character headshot screenshot with his own. Hoeever, I don't think his screenshots are an improvement over the original for reasons I am listing here:

  • All of his pictures appear to be taken in a model viewer with a black background (It might be just spawned models in Garry's Mod's black room, but the results are the same), while the original screenshots of these characters were taken in-game in environments they were actually encountered in (moody lighting and all). I feel that these black void pictures don't do the characters justice, as these are supposed to be, although fictional, people deeply involved in an expanding plotline that's quite indepth compared to other games. Putting them in front of a black background makes them feel very far removed from the games' reality, and somewhat akward if you ask me. I have no problem with model viewer screenshots for generic enemies (Such as Combine soldiers, Xen creatures, etc.), but these are unique characters in the game, so I believe that the ingame shots were very suitable for their articles.
  • Also, the black color tend to make certain models blend into the background, which is especially true for any character with black hair (However, I'm not implying that all these pictures should be redone with a different color background).
  • As another side effect of taking a screenshot from a model viewer (Or spawned models in Garry's Mod), none of the characters have facial expressions. They just use the default blank expression, which looks kind of creepy and doesn't really occur as such in-game. Since realistic facial expressions are one of the most significant features of the Source engine, and what makes these character seem more lifelife and believable, I think the in-game shots are far more appropriate in this regard.
  • All of his pictures have been uploaded as png's. Now, I have nothing against the image format, but it's just not necessary for these types of pictures. These aren't simple 256-color, low-resolution game screenshots that the png format works so well with; these are fancy high-poly character models with the works. Png files in this case just make images needlessly large (One of his uploaded pictures in png format is 1mb). A jpeg can have twice the resolution at half the size with a more than acceptable quality level.
  • Just a nitpick here, but he neglected to add an image license to all of his uploaded pictures. It wouldn't be terribly difficult to go through all 25 or so pictures he uploaded and add a license, but since I'm arguing to remove some of them, I don't think the effort would be put to good use.

Now, I'm not saying that all of his uploaded pictures or all of his edits are bad, but I disagree with the headshots he has added (And in some cases, replaced entirely). I don't mean to offend this person as he seems to be new, but I think he was just a bit overzealous with his first actions. I would like to revert his headshot pictures the originals, but I don't want to act without some sort of discussion consensus first. Please discuss or comment on the matter here. Thank you. MarphyBlack 14:53, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your concern. Not to sound like I'm protecting my images or something, but I do support at least some of your arguments, mostly because I'm usually more supportive of natural and aesthetic portrayals of characters (especially headshots) in screenshots, something that is not easy to replicate in, say, an environment similar to the HL2 Model Viewer, and there is no way to alter facial movements in it, producing something more of a mug shot than an photo-op. Secondly, all screenshots are not anti-aliased, which should be standard issue in Source engine screenshots. Replacing them with graphically inferior versions may send the wrong message to viewers of the graphics in game. I would like to hear what the uploader has to say about the images though.
On a minor note, GaMeRuInEr had included a {{don't know}} tag in one uploaded image [1], which either indicates that the user is currently unsure of what tag should be included, or has no idea where the image comes from. However, adding {{game-screenshot}} is OK for now, but it's also better if the author is willing to include rationale for image use, which seems to be a requirement for fair use images. The licensing status of the images is the responsibility of the user who uploaded it, so it's best to inform the user of how to copyright-tag images. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 18:59, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again. I've invited GaMeRuInEr to participate in this discussions, if you don't mind. :) ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 18:59, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't mind at all. I hope he actually sees the message, though, since I'm not certain if he's aware of the other image license messages either. MarphyBlack 00:27, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

HL2 headshots issue

[edit]

Guys, it's me, GaMeRuInEr. I don't know if I'm in the right place, but oh well. I really do apologize if I've done any destruction to any of the articles. But if you wish, you can delete any and all of my pictures if you like. I hope you understand that I'm quite new at this and have a hard time deciding what and what not to touch. Again, I'm sorry for any destruction I've done to any of the HL series pages.

Hello, GaMeRuInEr. I just wanted to make clear: No one is of the opinion that you've caused any destruction to any of the articles. Wikipedia is a place where anyone is free to contribute. The only concern here is whether the new pictures you added were actually improvements over the originals. There were no previously voiced complaints about the pictures we originally had, and going through the trouble to replace every single HL2 character image is certainly a large undertaking. I have listed my reasons above as to why I believe the original screenshots were better for the articles. Again, I do not wish to imply that all of your edits were bad in some way. My main regard was simply over the HL2 headshots. My last intention would be to scare you away from editing here, and I certainly wouldn't feel good about it if I had. You're very welcome here at Wikipedia, I just suggest that in the future, should you want to take part in a large overhaul of several articles (In this case, the character headshots), you should probably check beforehand to see if there's any real consensus that people want new images. Of course, you should always be bold when editing, and I am not criticizing you at all for your actions. You should not be worried as to if you should be allowed to touch an article, because by all means you certainly are. I, along with everyone here, appreciate the edits of all contributors, and if something comes into conflict, we can always discuss the best way to handle the situation like here.
Since you have read the issues brought up against your HL2 character headshots, and you've given permission now, I will go through some of your image edits and replace them with the previous image versions now. MarphyBlack 12:12, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the naming of the Tau cannon, the weapon is also known as the "Gauss gun" (not to be confused with "Gauss cannon"), so there may be a bit on confusion because "Gauss gun" is also used frequently to refer to the Tau cannon (see entries in Everything2 on "Tau Cannon" and "Gauss gun" for examples).

Also, the characteristic of the ammunition fired from the chopper gun is similar to that of the mounted Combine turrets and the Combine standard issue rifles (blue, yellow and white in color), which may confuse readers on the nature of the weapon's ammunition if a term occasionally associated with the Tau cannon is used instead. I'll return the "Gauss cannon" naming, but will be including a bit of detail to clear things up, per justifications above. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 19:43, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know it's somewhat confusing, but that appears to be the official name given to the gun by Valve and co. Kind of like how also in HL2 they named something the "Suppression field" and another thing the "Supression device" (Perhaps with the sole itention of confusing the player!), despite both devices having radically different uses. Female Assassin : Redemption

[edit]

If you have play the actual game, you will find the grunts fighting those female assassins in the assassin temple.

Nope, female assassins do not fight or attack human grunts, either in the regular version of Half-Life or in the mod Redemption. They are coded to fight on the same side, so they will never harm each other. Everything you saw in Redemption was just the work of some scripted sequences. You can spawn human grunts right next to female assassins and they won't actually do anything. MarphyBlack 22:51, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Exocutioner

[edit]

you removed the exocutioner, because he don't have a name & what not, but then theres the Keepers, like thats a name, so your reason for removing him, doesn't make any sence.~~Lil'Layzie-One

I did not remove him; I alphabetized his name. Even though it begins with "The", making the first letter "T", the actual first letter of his name is "E", for Executioner. "The" is just a title. That's why "The Keepers" are placed with the K names.
Incidentally, "The Keepers" are named during one of the cut scenes in Mythologies. MarphyBlack 20:30, 23 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sin steam edits

[edit]

Is it possible to port the pre-steam content to the steam version or do they use different formats? Also, you missed the removal of the Elexis nude skin in your page. --Superslash 04:53, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the pre-Steam content can be converted to the format that the Steam version uses (I think that would only need to be done with model textures, as both versions use the "swl" format for wall textures). However, I never actually tested this myself, so I'm not certain if the Steam version will even accept custom content (It may simply keep loading the regular content from the gcf file and ignore all external stuff, which is a known issue with some Steam games). Also, I am aware of the nude Elexis skin being cut. In fact, many files were cut from the Steam version, including some deathmatch music tracks (Possibly also due to copyright issues). I never got around to mentioning this on my page, although many of these files did appear to be unused originally. MarphyBlack 09:00, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Black Mesa

[edit]

Hi there Marphy, I see you have a similar opinion to myself regarding Geni and his "editing" of the Black Mesa articles. If this continues to drag on, I wonder if you would be prepared to join me in an official Request for Comment regarding his actions? You and me are not the first people to complain about his actions, and we will not be the last. Rusty2005 00:55, 15 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I do not wish to have this situation escalate further, but I do believe that Geni's actions need review. His views are well-intentioned, but far too overzealous and they takes quite a narrow perspective of the policies here. If it comes to an RfC, I will support you. I actually moved his Armageddon ending info up a little. The link is still there and can be moved down if you desire. The other link went to YouTube, and that site should not be used as a reference. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 02:17, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, what I was actually doing was adding a link to all character pages. Most of them didn't even have a reference section, and I was only trying to uniform them. I'm sorry to admit that I'm not all that up on adding referencing sections. However, if we can work together, then I believe that we can make the character pages a lot better. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 02:33, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I restored the reference sections on the pages I changed with slight alterations to the "Warehouse" links. I'm still adding the links to the rest of the characters and they can be used for actual reference sections when they are created. All the links can be found at the end of the story section, and the YouTube references are still in tact on the three pages I took them off. I believe that Jarek, Mokap and Motaro were the only ones. -SaturnYoshi THE VOICES 03:02, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Eh, just thought it was interesting that both Hotaru's name and Hotaru's weapon are associated with females. Didn't mean to offend. I mean, it really doesn't have to do with the character that his name is normally a female name, either, so why not just take that down, too? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by CaTigeReptile (talkcontribs) 02:49, 12 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

It has yet to be revealed if the normally female use of the name has any significance to Hotaru's character or whether this was just an oversight by the developers due to ignorance of the name's true meaning (Same goes with Reiko). While the name "Hotaru" was specifically chosen because it means firefly, in reference to his costume design (And thereby meaning that the developers could have known about the word normally being a female name since they knew the word's meaning), there is no indication whether the choice of the naginata is of any specific importance (Indeed, many of the characters' weapons seem to be quite haphazardly chosen at times). Your reasoning is valid, but it's a bit more far reaching than pointing out that Hotaru's name is normally associated with females, as it is known that the developers had a specific reasoning behind the name. The naginata, in contrast, may be completely negligible to his character. MarphyBlack 03:00, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, that works for me. You're the one with the award for the MK section. I suppose my trivia was, in fact, trivial. And I suppose it could have been, just like the firefly part was for his name, the samurai part for the weapon, as it was at one point a traditional samurai weapon. Both just had the coincidence of being associated with females. Cheers. CaTigeReptile 02:02, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know why you're acting so offended over this. If you're implying that I am condoning the original trivia point and condemning yours, that would be incorrect. All trivia sections as a whole are frowned upon here. Not that I am entirely opposed to all trivia sections of any kind, but often they encourage unsourced and non-notable speculation and/or original research to be added to articles, all of which the original trivia point is fairly guilty of. I would have removed it myself had I been monitoring the article at the time of its inclusion (It seems it was added by an anonymous ip back in September). While I plan to remove such unsourced and non-notable information like this at some point in the future, there are over 60 character articles to go through, not to mention the dozens of other MK-related ones to consider. In order to make this process slightly less painful when I finally do get around to doing it, I am preventing any more such info from being added in the mean time. However, since you have brought up this specific case, I will remove the trivia point right now. MarphyBlack 02:39, 13 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your Words On Smoke's Trivia

[edit]

The Prima guide seems to have mixed the roles of all the cyborgs. However, this is part of the UMK3 section of the book, which likely was not the focus of an Armageddon guide.)

yes it wasn't a big part, the whole book seemed like it wasn't focused on anything, the crane fighting style combo, was repeatidly mentioned through the whole book, n its chameleons only, but its still found in ten other spots, goro n kira had goro.rpg n kira.rpg, all these i'm explaining are small mess ups yes, but as for a story for a character, should be writen correctly, so its during UMK3, but lots of other new MK players wouldn't know much of the 3 series, so there for, i think its good to mention the mix up in the prima's guide Lil'Layzie-One 19:00, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Lil'Layzie-One

Image resolution

[edit]

I would have to disagree with you on that. Images 400x400px are generally considered low enough resolution, but anything with a dimension 500 or larger is for the most part considered too large. As far as the Torchic image, I wouldn't rely on any FA for guidance on images (ironic as it sounds). For example, Image:LindseyLohan MeanGirls.jpg appeared on the featured article Lindsay Lohan and nobody noticed that it was at an insanely high resolution. People often forget to take a look at all the images when reviewing FA's. If you'd like to further discuss what sorts of resolutions are appropriate, it would be a really good idea to bring it up at Wikipedia talk:Fair use since you should be able to get some good discussion there and hopefully more clear guidelines as to what resolutions are advisable. Could you please tell me where this logo comes from, you reference the game manual, but this doesn't look like a scan to me :) If it's not "an original" piece of media, then perhaps it would be a good idea to make it an svg?--Rygir 01:59, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The logo came from a PDF version of the manual, which is why it looks to be of such nice quality. I merely did a print screen while viewing it. What do you mean by "an original" piece? I'd certainly be quite willing to upload an svg if preferable, but I don't know how to extract the logo from the PDF (And I'm not even quite sure how the logo is embedded in the document, much less what file type it may be using). Also, since I originally uploaded this image, I've come across the notion that we may actually want to use a lower-resolution version of the file instead as this is a fair use image. I haven't done anything as of yet, but this would be one of my main concerns once I eventually do get around to taking care of this logo. MarphyBlack 08:27, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mortal Kombat Changes

[edit]

Got your message about the changes I made. The articles regarding species closely resembling humans was taken directly from the articles about the individual realms and had not been disputed in any way there. Admittedly the names given to these semeingly separate races are probably not the most fitting but I was merely using what was presented elsewhere in the site asuming it to be accurate. The highly extended life span of these potential races (though all MK characters seem to have a knack for staying alive longer than they should) as well as the notably non-human look of Havik does support the change though. Also of note is that Edenians were already listed as a separate race before my edits.

In regards to the Undead issue, since Noob Saibot is directly referred to as a wraith and Liu Kang is directly referred to as a Zombie these are clearly two separate races supported by canon. I can understand your point that Scorpion is not referred to as a wraith and that he therefore may not be a member of the race (though not all humans are actually called humans) and can understand if his name is removed from there, however I do still feel that these two clearly different races should be represented as such each with at least one canonical member.

As for the extended arenas content list I completely get your point. After actually seeing it that long I was intending to revert it myself but you beat me to it.

Sorry for any inconvenience I may have caused you with my changes. As you said it was all in good faith. I do still strongly support the changes I have made that aren't already reverted, though you clearly have a keen grasp of the field and I will accept any changes you make, whether it be removal or simply rewording.

The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. The image that was replaced will not be automatically deleted, but it could be deleted at a later date. Articles using the same image should not be affected by my edits. I ask you to please not re-add the image to your userpage and could consider finding a replacement image licensed under either the Creative Commons or GFDL license or released to the public domain. Thanks for your attention and cooperation. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 19:57, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for Image:NoobSaibotMK.JPG

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:NoobSaibotMK.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:38, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Mkt64 starbridge.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Mkt64 starbridge.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Moe ε 00:53, 3 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Mkt64 starbridge.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mkt64 starbridge.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:47, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah! Those images...

[edit]

From my newbie days on Wikipedia of the 4 gods. They are artwork related to MK:Sub-Zero myth game. Orignally they were off somewhere on the internet I saw them. *ahem* I was a newbie and posted them then... I wouldn't have done that now... But anyway, where they came from, I think it was either general artwork or manual artwork can't remember. Angel Emfrbl 21:34, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, chap. Sorry for my long absence. I'm on an unannounced Wikibreak for an unknown period of time. Obviously I won't be around to watch things as often as I have before.

Apparently I wasn't in the know when List of Combine combat technology in Half-Life 2 was listed for deletion. But I was wondering if you had a backup of the last good copy of the article before it was deleted (if any relevant wiki hasn't retained the said revision)? Perhaps you can merge anything unmentioned at the Half-Life Wikia, or provide a bit of editing commitment there. Wikipedia may not be good for gamecruft anymore. ╫ 25 ◀RingADing▶ 15:42, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, I did not get a copy of the article before it was deleted. However, the mirror of the page at Answers.com is still available, images and all. (I just saved this mirror in case it gets removed later.) I can't tell if this was one of the most recent revisions of the actual Wikipedia page, but no significant changes had been made to it in the past while or so. The individual articles on the Half-Life Wikia seem to be mostly up to date, though. MarphyBlack 18:11, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
A bit late but if you ask an admin nicely they may provide you with a copy of the article before it was deleted provided it wasn't for copyvio reasons Nil Einne 14:48, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"rv, mentioned in Episode 1 by Alyx. The line is: ep_01.al_judithgotaway "He and Judith got out ahead of us, in one of Dr. Breen's escape pods. They made it to a vortigaunt camp, way outside the city.")

When is this line of dialogue stated? I honestly don't recall it. If it was unused then it cannot be considered canon. Qjuad 01:03, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't played Episode One in over a year, and I don't the game available to run right now. However, I do have the GCF file, and this is the wav file of Alyx speaking the line: [3]. You can also find this info referenced specifically here on halflife2.net, which is generally regarded as quite a reliable Half-Life site. I apologize that I can't tell you exactly where or how to hear Alyx say the line in-game. MarphyBlack 06:21, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Mkda cyrax.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:24, 16 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 18:24, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Hl fassn.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Hl fassn.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

AfD nomination of Gargantua (Half-Life)

[edit]

An editor has nominated Gargantua (Half-Life), an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gargantua (Half-Life) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 21:59, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Keller01.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Mkt chameleon.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mkt chameleon.png.

AfD nomination of Gore: Ultimate Soldier

[edit]

I have nominated Gore: Ultimate Soldier, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gore: Ultimate Soldier. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Fair use rationale for File:Goldsrc valve.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Goldsrc valve.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:41, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
