Removal of PROD from Melvyn Leffler

Hello RadioFan, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot to inform you the PROD template you added to Melvyn Leffler has been removed. It was removed by David Eppstein with the following edit summary '(Unprod. Clear pass of WP:PROF #5.)'. Please consider discussing your concerns with David Eppstein before pursuing deletion further yourself. If you still think the article should be deleted after communicating with the 'dePRODer,' you may want to send the article to AfD for community discussion. Assembly constituencies

Sorry for the trouble. I had modified Gangapur (Assembly constituency) page with reference and link to it. Is it OK ? so that I can modify the rest others pages. Shivap (talk) 12:56, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Its a start. These are very short pages, how do you see them growing? What additional information could be included. If they aren't likely to grow beyond this one or two sentences, they should probably be merged into a single page on the region.--RadioFan (talk) 12:58, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Band/musician prods

Hi RadioFan. I've just come across some prods you've put on articles about artists and musicians. In some cases I believe you are correct but in others the band/person in question clearly meets notability guidelines. Hope you don't take this the wrong way as I believe you're acting in good faith. Cavie78 (talk) 13:36, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Can you be more specific about the articles you believe meet notability guidelines?

dePRODing of articles

Hello RadioFan, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot to inform you the PROD templates you added to a number of articles were removed:

  • PROD removed from Shades of Blue (EP), by User:TFOWR, with summary '(Removing prod (feel free to re-add). Adding {{db-g5}} - speedy, created by banned user.)'
  • PROD removed from Neil Halstead, by User:Cavie78, with summary '(add refs and remove prod - clearly meets notability guidelines and there are plenty of good refs out there if you look)'
  • PROD removed from Simon Scott, by User:71.231.142.5, with summary '(no edit summary)'

Cartel (band), Will Pugh, other band members article merge?

Hey RadioFan, I've cleaned up and referenced Cartel (band) after its AFD. Since the conclusion for the AFD on Will Pugh seems to be leaning towards a merge with the Cartel article, I'd appreciate your input on how this would best be done. Of particular issue is the Jeff Lett article, due to its photo/infobox. Would this infobox be incorporated into the "members" section of the Cartel article, and if so how do you see this being done? I don't have any experience in doing merges, so yeah, any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks! SMC (talk) 12:35, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Any useful information from the infobox that could be put into prose should be included into the merge but dont feel that everything has to go, especially anything that's not sourcable.--RadioFan (talk) 13:23, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
Righto, will do. When the AFD on Will Pugh closes, I'll get to work. Thanks again. SMC (talk) 14:34, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Ilsa Shickelgrubermeiger-Von Helsinger Kepelugerhoffer

It may be your opinion that this was an inappropriate page, but, it is a page about a TV show character, of which there are plenty of others on Wikipedia. This one has as much right as any other to exist. I have included a Weasel Words and an Orphan tag on the page to let people know that it may not be a perfect entry at present, but it still is justified in being included in Wikipedia. Other users could edit, expand it, or add better references, but they can't do that if you just redirect the page. So, before an article is removed, all users should get to debate it on an Articles for Deletion entry, because not everyone may agree with you. I don't, which is why I have re-created the article, and if you still have a problem with it please add a AFD tag and say why via that. And then see what others say.

ThankYou.

--Nocrowx (talk) 22:48, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

As I explained at my user talk page, there is an article dedicated to all of the minor characters from this TV show, and this character has a large entry there. Instead of trying to force your preferred version of this single article, I ask that you please work on improving the entry at the list article. It makes no sense to have an article on one minor, non-notable character from a TV show when all of the other ones are together. It's stylistically inappropriate and since two separate editors have reverted it to the redirect it would seem consensus is in favor of the redirect. Furthermore, a redirect is not a deletion, so an AfD is not proper. <>Multi-Xfer<> (talk) 22:51, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
I agree with Multixfer. An AFD is not necessary because the page does not need to be deleted. It's barely plausible given its length but it is a plausible search team so having a redirect page there is appropriate. Having a dedicated article is not, especially since it is not referenced beyond an unreliable source (another wiki). The existence of other similar articles has no bearing on this. Please do not revert this again. Remember, you do not own this article, all are free to edit and organize Wikipedia. Wikipedia is guided by consensus, not individual editors and consensus is pointing towards a redirect in this case.--RadioFan (talk) 00:58, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Peräpohjola dialects

Hi. You put template to article Peräpohjola dialects which says the article needs additional citations for verification. Could you please specify this claim? There ought to be no unsourced material.--SM (talk) 12:38, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

There are footnotes but there is also a single "source" listed and it's not clear what that is sourcing. Could you make that a footnote instead to clarify things?--RadioFan (talk) 12:45, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
Why to use footnotes if the material is mostly from that single general source? That is normal custom isn't it? There are footnotes to those parts which are not from that main source. --SM (talk) 12:49, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
Now the general source is made to footnotes. Is it OK now? --SM (talk) 12:58, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on The Weekly Post requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Replacing Prods

WP:CONTESTED states "If anyone, including the article creator, removes a 'prod' tag from an article, do not replace it,". You have replaced the Prod at Leinster Senior League (association football)‎ and at least one other page. Whilst you may wish submit this article for AfD, I would respectfully suggest that you haven't got a snowball's chance of achieving deletion particularly since several clubs in the league have established notability. TerriersFan (talk) 19:50, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

I thought I hadn't prod'd this particular article and wanted to go that route before going to AFD involving other editor's time. Lighten up, it was a mistake. As for the notability of the article, redlink farms rarely fare well in AFDs. Having a couple of notable items in the list doesn't do much to establish notability of the list itself.--RadioFan (talk) 20:19, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

Columbus Square Articles

Hi RadioFan,

I just created 6 new articles for the Columbus Square area of New York. The other 5 sub-pages are referencing the buildings under development, or fully constructed towers of Columbus Square.

Also, is it possible to edit the building names from:

  • "808 Columbus Avenue, New York" to "808 Columbus Avenue"
  • "775 Columbus, New York City" to "775 Columbus Avenue"
  • "801 Amsterdam, New York City" to "775 Columbus Avenue"
  • "795 Columbus, New York City" to "795 Columbus Avenue"
  • "805 Columbus, New York City" to "805 Columbus Avenue"

Much Appreciated! --FPMBen (talk) 16:54, 16 October 2009 (UTC)Ben

Its not clear how these articles meet notability guidelines. Each has only a single reference to the New York times. If you could add some text explaining why these buildings are notable, that would help--RadioFan (talk) 17:36, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Proposed Deletion Question

The article in question is here Love Is No Game. Shirley Bassey is obviously notable, being the best-selling female recording artist in British history. While I think that makes all her albums ok to have separate articles, I am inquiring about her singles, especially a non-charting one like this. I understand that this may not meet notability criteria. It does seem like a fact of life on wikki that some things get propsed for deletion, while others that don't seem much different do not. For example, why is Beautiful People (Pet Shop Boys song) apparently ok, but not the Shirley Bassey single? What can be done to improve the Love Is No Game article to lift the proposed deletion? Do you have any advice in this matter...--Nyctc7 (talk) 21:48, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

While the artist may be notable, that doesn't transfer to each song produced by the artist. Was there something specific in WP:NSONGS that you feel this song meets? Lets focus on Love Is No Game and not worry about other articles. This one received notice because it was recently created.--RadioFan (talk) 11:36, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I agree, pointing to the other article was a distraction. Sorry. My interpretation of the notability guidlines is that, for a famous singer or band, albums are ok, singles that charted are ok, but that no matter how famous the artist, a non-charting single just doesn't cut it, unless as you suggest there is something notable about it that one can definitely point to: For example, was it the first-ever single issued by the artist? Did it create some sort of controversy that was reported in the media? But not even Elvis Presley has articles on every single he ever issued.--Nyctc7 (talk) 14:23, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
First ever single by an artist isn't notable enough to warrant a dedicated article and gives it undue weight, this can be adequately covered in the artist's article.--RadioFan (talk) 14:26, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
OK, thanks--Nyctc7 (talk) 14:27, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

Alasdair_Paterson proposed for deletion - fair enough

Hi, I wasn't sure if this person would be notable enough or not, if this level of impact is not enough, then fair enough, I'm not going to argue the point.

Munromagic (talk) 11:58, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

I think this is a stub now. Bearian (talk) 12:27, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

I dont see this reaching the level of notability to warrant a dedicated article at this time. If I read it right, there is only a single pilot project. This doesn't really reach the level of an industry that is implied by the article. Perhaps it could be merged to Department of Agriculture (South Africa)--RadioFan (talk) 14:28, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Re: Zombie Cow Studios

I noticed that your PROD here[1] has been deleted by the primary editor of that article. They did give a reason, though it only addresses matters of WP:N and doesn't at all convince me that further attempts should be made or more questions asked at the very least. With "What links here" only user talk pages come up and zero other Wiki articles... not even in any categories. After some additional research on the company I think it could likely have a reasonable article included on Wikipedia, but it would take substantial work in the WP:RS and WP:V areas. The official company website does not offer any press or outside news sources other than game reviews which by themselves aren't sufficient.

Oh, hm, I see you put a general issues tag on it. I'll leave it to you on how you'd like to proceed, but I wanted to give my opinion at least. It can be hard to explain to some people why their saying a company is notable does not mean it meets Wikipedia guidelines, but hopefully the PROD objector will understand the need to address the issues raised. Though I did not find anything on google other than reviews, interviews and press releases, assuming the article author is more familiar with the company there shouldn't be all that much trouble cleaning it up. Let me know if you'd like any additional comment/opinions in the future on this topic.

Barry Kirkey article

Hello!

You recently marked for deletion a page on Barry Kirkey, a character in the book "The Game" by Neil Strauss who also runs a popular (relatively speaking) podcast on revolution31.com. If this page fails your guidelines, then perhaps the following should also be considered for deletion (judging by the page history, apparently I'm not alone):

http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Owen_Cook - the founder of RSD, the company for whom Barry Kirkey was the head instructor. Please note the references cited at the bottom are mostly self-produced by himself and his company, much the same as Barry Kirkey's references. If BK's fails, so does this. Please also note that the page for Real Social Dynamics (RSD) has been deleted on Wikipedia.

Thanks for your attention. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.196.37.203 (talk) 17:53, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

null date tag

Hello,

I'm fairly new to Wikipedia. I'm doing a research project on revision practices, and the Murder of Annie Le article is one of my examples. I noticed that you put a null date tag on the article on September 13th. I'm not sure what this means. Could you explain it to me?

Thank you. Editor Lara (talk) 18:41, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

It was likely added by the tool I was using to add the {{current person}} tag. You can ignore the null tag.--RadioFan (talk) 20:02, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

Hello. I declined your PROD because I found multiple non-trivial sources for the article. Now that I have done a fundamental rewrite, I welcome your judgement. I would prefer an AfD if you still feel it deserves deletion though.--TParis00ap (talk) 20:28, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

PHP ActiveRecord

Please help me with this: PHP ActiveRecord is something long awaited by the PHP community. Only now possible through 5.3 PHP release that allows for reflexion.

Although this software is very young it is one remarkable piece of code regarding Active Record on PHP. Before it was not even possible to do it because of missing magic functions in previous versions of PHP.

I'm in no way affiliated with the developers.

I put away the notice for now, if you think it is still not important enough please discuss about this. Thanks so much.

Best regards, --John802 (talk) 00:06, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

I dont see this meeting guidelines for inclusion as a dedicated article but rather than delete it, I've merged it into Active record pattern, please continue to improve it there. Information on the PHP implementation as well as the other implementations and the concept as a whole is lacking in references to reliable sources.--RadioFan (talk) 11:40, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

I see you A3'd this; since the content of it was "see [hyperlink to other wikipedia page]" it seemed much more appropriate to convert it to a redirect. Pseudomonas(talk) 12:20, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

At the time, the redirect target didn't exist, thus the G8 CSD.--RadioFan (talk) 15:33, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Please be more careful and make sure you look at anything you tag for speedy deletion; though Teliris had been incorrectly written on a talk page, it provided references and established notability. All you needed to do was move it into the mainspace. Thank you. —Ed (talkcontribs) 19:41, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

Sorry but I disagree, this is not a tagging issue. If you look at the article creator's talk page, I and other editors have been going round and round with this person about this article. It was userfied so that they may work on it more before introducing it in article space. Please delete this article so that the editor may continue to improve it in user space, there are still significant issues with this article. --RadioFan (talk) 01:34, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
I don't think there are enough issues to warrant another speedy deletion, especially now that there are three sources. —Ed (talkcontribs) 12:50, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
You are correct that there have been improvements and I dont have a problem with the article staying now. --RadioFan (talk) 12:52, 28 October 2009 (UTC)

Canonsburg Fourth of July Parade

Hello. I was wondering what criteria you used to determine that Canonsburg Fourth of July Parade should be merged into Canonsburg, Pennsylvania? The parade is an enormous deal in Western Pennsylvania, and I feel it deserves its own Wikipedia article. That article can be extended and further referenced, photos could be added... it could be a really nice, informative page. Blicarea (talk) 09:26, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

I'm not seeing anything in the article that claims sufficient notability to warrant a dedicated article. There are thousands of Fourth of July parades around the country, a dedicated article would give this one undue weight. The parade can be sufficiently covered in the town's article and a redirect is in place at Canonsburg Fourth of July Parade to ensure anyone searching on the name get to the right place.--RadioFan (talk) 11:24, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

why do you suggest that the article on ANSI C12.20 doesn't have any references when I reference the standard document itself @ NEMA? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bschoeni (talkcontribs) 16:08, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

There is an external link on ANSI C12.20, is that intended as a reference? It would be clearer with citations instead of just an external links.--RadioFan (talk) 16:15, 30 October 2009 (UTC)

added 2 more 3rd party reference to miss india ct, let me know if it is good or not. i missed to login but last few update are done by me in miss india ct.Wikiuser7777 (talk) 13:55, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

These references to not help establish notability as they are primary sources. We'll need multiple references in 3rd party reliable sources to demonstrate notability here. If this is affiliated with some other pagent, perhaps it could be merged there but I dont see it meeting notability guidelines for a dedicated article and have replaced the prod.--RadioFan (talk) 13:59, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

As per your earlier statement, I added couple of 3rd party links for reference. Please explain what else is lacking? Wikiuser7777 (talk) 17:57, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
