Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited William Edward Powell, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Llanbadarn Fawr (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Ceredigion

[edit]

Hi Macs,

I agree we need to chat about the page https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Ceredigion_(UK_Parliament_constituency).

I have a middle road in mind.

Do you wish to have that convo here or on the article talk page?

Cheers

Pembrokeshire Council

[edit]

You're being quite contrary, aren't you, by reverting the removal of unnecessary middle names from election lists, then going through and selectively replacing full names with common names. We should really be doing one thing or the other.

It would be more sensible to use common names, for example, when describing Jamie Adams' role as council leader, than when we are recording election results when he is standing under his given name. Sionk (talk) 12:00, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. This has been an issue discussed on several occasions. I'm happy to agree with you on how we proceed and there are arguments for using the common name and also the full name. My objection to removing middle names is that the first name might no necessarily be the common name. Happy to agree to your suggestion, if I understand correctly, to use the full name in recorded election results but the common name when describing leadership of the council etc. I shall revert my changes if we agree on this. You are doing excellent work on local elections etc. so best that we collaborate! Regards Macs15 (talk) 20:20, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! To be honest, I had a similar problem with my local councillor who was known as Tariq Awan but, like many Muslim males, had the first name Mohamed. So it made no sense when another editor removed the name Tariq. I've seen other editors remove middle names from election lists, but it's not the top of my to-do list. All the best! Sionk (talk) 20:34, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks. I’ll revert those changes tomorrow. I’ve also seen examples of names being changed so that they’re plain wrong! But as you say it’s probably not a priority!Macs15 (talk) 23:38, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited William Thomas Rowland Powell, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Norwood (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Llandeilo Rural District moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Llandeilo Rural District, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. 1995 Cardiff Council election

[edit]

If you're basing the 'retiring members' on who won in 1991, you'll probably be inaccurate. For example, there was definitely a by-election in Adamsdown after Jon Owen Jones got elected to the UK Parliament, so I suspect Lynn Glaister may also have been a retiring councillor. Best not to add them unless you've got some sort of proof from somewhere, in my opinion. Additionally, it was a different council, which wil be why the Elections Centre doesn't indicate retiring members. Sionk (talk) 18:39, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fair point. Given that it is a different council in 1995 retiring member is not correct. However, it is probably useful to indicate who were the members of the previous authority. Will re-word? Thanks for taking the work on 1991 forward! Macs15 (talk) 19:37, 24 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I see you spotted Julie Morgan as well. I was trying to find proof it was her, but couldn't. However, she was South Glamorgan councillor for the Mackintosh ward, which is basically the same area, Plasnewydd/Roath. So sort of makes sense. Sionk (talk) 11:36, 26 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
