[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "MM Comms", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it looks like a role account (see WP:ISU). If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. asilvering (talk) 20:43, 19 September 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you @Asilvering for reaching out and pointing this concern. I have read the username policy page and established that this is not a role account, as "MM" stands for my first and last initials, while "Comms" is for my area of expertise. If you still think that this username doesn't respect the guidelines, please don't hesitate to let me know. Thanks you. MM Comms (talk) 10:33, 24 September 2024 (UTC)
- You're clear, thanks! -- asilvering (talk) 16:37, 24 September 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hello MM Comms. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.
Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.
Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:MM Comms. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=MM Comms|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}
. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Note that "paid editing" includes employment in any capacity, it does not require specific payment for edits. 331dot (talk) 08:40, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @331dot,
- Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I am an employee at Qonto.
- I apologize for missing this important aspect of the disclosure process. Up until this point, I thought that declaring a Conflict of Interest like I did on my user page was what I had to do, and I thought that the scope of "paid editing" applied only to editors compensated specifically for writing articles about a company. I now understand that this category also includes company employees.
- My goal is by no means to overtake the work of the Wikipedia community. Rather, I aim to help by providing accurate information and citing reliable sources about Qonto, especially as the company is already mentioned on pages like "Neobanks in Europe" and "Alexandre Prot", which is Qonto's CEO.
- I will add the Template {{Paid}} to my user page immediately. Thank you for your understanding, and I apologize again for overlooking this requirement. MM Comms (talk) 13:34, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
