A tag has been placed on Farewell to Nova Scotia (1CD), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per speedy deletion criterion A1.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.Toddst1 01:30, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Farewell to Nova Scotia (1CD), and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Scottish Folk. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Farewell to Nova Scotia.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Farewell to Nova Scotia.jpg is a duplicate of an already existing article, category or image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Farewell to Nova Scotia.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Your edits to Bon Scott

[edit]

Hi Lurulu! We don't do it that way on Wikipedia. Please delete what you added, and put double square brackets around the first occurrence (only) of the word 'Fremantle'. That will turn the word blue and create a link to the article about the city. Best wishes. Philip Trueman (talk) 11:16, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits to U2

[edit]

The location of the dates was no problem in the articles promotion to featured article status, and it has been agreed through discussion that Songs of Ascent belongs with the same information as No Line on the Horizon because so little information about it is available yet. Please take any issues that you may have with the article to the talk page so that an edit war does not begin. MelicansMatkin (talk) 19:33, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because I do not view your edits as being an improvement. As I have already suggested, please take it to the talk page if you are so concerned with the article's quality, so that a discussion with all the contributors to the article can ensue. MelicansMatkin (talk) 19:40, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Because placing the dates first looks horrendous, and I have seen no other article which does it. When discussing an event, the most commonly accepted practice is to list the event first and the date after. I have already explained to you about Songs of Ascent. I repeat myself yet again; if you are that concerned then take it to the talk page so everyone can discuss it instead of on my talk page where nobody is aware of it. And yes I am a "big brother", though I hardly see how my family matters are any of your concern. MelicansMatkin (talk) 19:49, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I know what you were referring to, I was being facetious. Since it is about the article you take it to the article's talk page, not to me. Regarding the dates, I will say it again: the most commonly accepted practice is to list the event first and the date after. Any further discussion should take place here. I will not respond to any further comments about it on my talk page. MelicansMatkin (talk) 20:20, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize for my last comment; it was unnecessarily rude and I have removed it. I have opened up a discussion here. Please direct any further concerns or comments there instead of my talk page. MelicansMatkin (talk) 20:29, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I apologize again for my rude comment, and you're right that it was undeserved. I've dealt with a lot of frustrating issues recently, including a few trying users, and my patience snapped when you refused to listen to my suggestion to open a discussion on the talk page. That wasn't right, and I apologize. Discussing issues with as many editors as possible by posting on the talk page instead of just with one user is how Wikipedia is built, and it is the best way to avoid conflict. MelicansMatkin (talk) 20:47, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I never reported you for making any personal attack, and I didn't actually take it as such. I took it to be something said in the heat of the moment, much as my own rude comment had been. That the user came by and removed it was simply a coincidence. And I don't understand what you mean by censorship, as I have seen no censorship here today. In fact, Wikipedia is on the whole very much uncensored. MelicansMatkin (talk) 21:23, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Watch your tone

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, we would like to remind you not to attack other editors, as you did on User talk:MelicansMatkin. Please comment on the contributions and not the contributors. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Calling other editors "narrow-minded" is inappropriate. -Jeremy (v^_^v Cardmaker) 20:30, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your comments on Talk:U2: Please see Wikipedia's no personal attacks policy. Comment on content, not on contributors. Personal attacks damage the community and deter users. Speedy deletion of Our Secrets Are The Same

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Our Secrets Are The Same requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Proposed deletion of Capercaillie concert tours

[edit]

The article Capercaillie concert tours has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

fails WP:NOTDIRECTORY. This is more something last.fm would like.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Ironholds (talk) 02:07, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Capercaillie concert tours, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Capercaillie concert tours. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Ironholds (talk) 22:53, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with Capercaillie concert tours. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. Hi there, and thanks for starting that A Saucerful of Secrets US Tour article. I've looked at how this information fits with Pink Floyd European Tour 1968, and decided that the two separate pages would be better served by a merger into one article, which I'm thinking of calling Pink Floyd 1968 Tour or something similar to that.

A tag has been placed on Altan concert tours, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Removal of content tags

[edit]

This is regarding your recent removal of content tags in Lostboy!_AKA_Jim_Kerr. Such tags are for improvement of the article and should not be removed without reason, especially by the article creator. If you wish to remove article tags, please address the issues they represent first. Mamyles (talk) 23:08, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed there are sources, however souces must conform to guidelines set in WP:SOURCE. Sources must be third-party, which is why the tag was added. If such sources cannot be found, it is subject to the Criteria for speedy deletion section A9, for lack of importance. Mamyles (talk) 23:20, 24 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. Please stop the disruption, otherwise you may be blocked from editing. Oh and by the way; your additions were uneeded and somatically incorrect. Don't give up...

[edit]

Hi Lurulu. I know next-to-nothing about you, and we do move in different musical worlds, however I just wanted to say that I respect your energy and devotion in constructing detailed lists of information. I suspect we both have a desire to catalogue information and make it available for others. Unfortunately, the current structure of WP is not receptive to such hard work and devotion. Could I suggest you keep your lists of information going (perhaps in something like Google Docs) so that they will be available if ever the culture at WP lightens-up (and allows more detail than is presently permitted)? In the meantime, don't be discouraged. I know you are trying to help (by working as hard as you do) to catalogue history as it unfolds. Cheers.  HWV258.  11:09, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The trick at WP (as far as I can determine it) is to build slowly—with at least one foot in the guidelines. Can you get a subset of your information into an article? Is there one notable concert you can document in more detail (with references)? That might be a great starting point. If you work within the current guidelines, then what you have added might be able to grow at a later stage. In the meantime, make sure you are storing all your information off-wiki (as I do). I know it's frustrating to have to hold back, but it is rewarding to see something you add stick.  HWV258.  22:20, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, the trick is to build consensus on what is in the articles. That is a core policy of Wikipedia and the only way that it can work. Lurulu, instead, inserts screeds of uncited trivia and external links to Youtube, repeatedly reverts it when removed, and refuses to discuss anything with other editors. This is simply disruptive and is not going to achieve anything.
No-one has anything against detail, but when an artist's article is turned into the state where it is 2/3 uncited set lists from recent tours, something that no one has anyway of verifying and is list cruft of no interest to anyone but the most obsessive of fans (and therefore belongs on a fan site, not an encyclopaedia), then it should be no surprise when it is challenged and removed. If Lurulu wishes it to remain they must first justify it, and that means discussing it. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 08:40, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Recreation of Altan tours

[edit]

Please stop recreating the article that was deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Altan concert tours. From what I can tell you have recreated this article at least six times in what looks like the past fifteen days. Each of these recreations have been speedily deleted per Wikipedia:Speedy deletion #G4: "Recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion." Since you feel this article needs to belong on Wikipedia, instead of continually recreating this article at a host of different titles, you need to start a discussion with the administrator that deleted the article after the deletion discussion, User:Shimeru, and if the administrator does not agree with you, you can start a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion review. Aspects (talk) 19:31, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So I told you exactly what you needed to do to try and get the article kept on Wikipedia and instead of heeding this advice you decide to ... recreate the article yet again at a new title. You need to follow my advice or you could risk being blocked for disruptive editing. Aspects (talk) 03:59, 14 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Block

[edit]
You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for your disruption caused by edit warring and violation of the three-revert rule at Jim Kerr. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding below this notice the text {{unblock|Your reason here}}, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. --Chris (talk) 01:42, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributions

[edit]

I'm sorry that you haven't listened to what everyone has tried to tell you. If you continue with your chosen course of action it is only going to result in longer, and perhaps permanent, blocks. No one is trying to stop you contributing to Wikipedia, and I can only admire your enthusiasm. But you cannot continue to ignore Wikipedia guidelines and policies, particularly when others have repeatedly tried to explain them to you.

  • Reposting articles, without any changes, that have been repeatedly deleted before is disruptive. You will not get your article accepted as long as it fails to show notability. Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate source of information. Subjects need to show notability and verifiable. That means citing things from reliable sources, something that you have not yet made any attempt to do.
  • If your additions are challenged by others, the correct action is to discuss and reach consensus on them. Continually and blindly reverting them back in is edit warring, which is disruptive, a waste of everyone's time and, I guarantee, will not get you what you want. It will also get you blocked. Consensus is a key policy on Wikipedia. You will not achieve anything without it, and sometimes that means you have to compromise. 'If you cannot learn to live with this then Wikipedia is not for you.
  • You do not own any of the articles you are editing or creating. They are not 'yours'. If you look, you will see at the bottom of the edit pages it says "If you do not want your writing to be edited, used, and redistributed at will, then do not submit it here." If you cannot learn to live with this then Wikipedia is not for you.
  • Indiscriminate and uncited sets lists of gigs, with links to Youtube, are not appropriate to Wikipedia. They violate guidelines on appropriate external links, lists of links, and verifiability policy. The proper place for these are on a fansite, or, better yet, on Youtube itself.
  • Flag icons should be used sparingly. Peppering articles with them is against Manual of style guidelines.
  • If an act is American, articles about it should use American spelling and American date formats.

Manual of Style

[edit]

Please stop reverting edits that apply the Manual of Style. It is simply being disruptive and I do not believe that is your purpose for being here. We all have to fall into line sometimes, there are parts of Wikipedia and guidelines that irritate me too, and I'd happily get rid of. But I have to compromise and follow the guidelines established by consensus. It's what Wikipedia relies on, it couldn't ever work if people didn't compromise.

So you may not think so, but the guidelines do apply to you and your edits. They are there for a reason. They ensure a degree of consistency across millions of articles that would be a confusing mess without them. No-one has the lee-way to ignore them simply because they don't personally care for them. And certainly no-one can be allowed to remove the work of those who attempt to apply the manual of style to articles.

It would help everyone, including yourself, if you could give a little and compromise too. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 16:55, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It doesn't matter what you call it; you're edit warring with editors who are undoing your edits which go against the Wikipedia Manual of Style, like User :Escape Orbit tried to point out to you, and you're working towards getting yourself blocked from editing. You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Candy Store Rock. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. If the edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Radiopathy •talk• 02:17, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Owl City concert tours. Users who edit disruptively or refuse to collaborate with others may be blocked if they continue. In particular the three-revert rule states that making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period is almost always grounds for an immediate block. If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the talk page to discuss controversial changes. Work towards wording and content that gains consensus among editors. If unsuccessful then do not edit war even if you believe you are right. Post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. A tag has been placed on Dan Lampinski (bootlegger) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ttonyb (talk) 22:25, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's discussion directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead recreating the page. Thank you. The deletion discussion doesn't mean you did something wrong. In fact, other editors may have useful suggestions on how you can continue editing and improving Deep Purple 2009 Tour, which I encourage you to do. If you have any questions, feel free to ask at the Help Desk.

Hi. When you recently edited Black Sabbath concert tours, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Donnington and Vitoria (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Black Sabbath concert tours. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - Black Sabbath 2012 Reunion Tour. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Black Sabbath 2012 Reunion Tour - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Aspects (talk) 06:31, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What did you think about the deletion notice you received?

[edit]

Hi Lurulu,

In November you received a message about either "Nomination for deletion" or "Proposed deletion" of an article you created. I'd like to ask you a few quick questions:

  1. Was the message helpful? Were the instructions clear and easy to follow?
  2. If not, how do you think the message could be improved?
  3. What do you think about the deletion process in general? Do you understand how to contest a deletion?

You can feel free to answer on my talk page or send me your response by email (mpinchuk@wikimedia.org). (I won't quote you or link your answers to your username if you don't feel comfortable with that.) Your feedback is incredibly useful for improving the content of deletion notifications, so please take a minute to think about and answer these questions. Thank you! More set lists

[edit]

I have listed my concerns for the "Set Lists" section you are creating on the Simple Minds' Festival Tour 2012 article on the talk page. Could you please reply to each of them.

You have a long history of implementing sections like this, and the issues with them have been repeatedly pointed out to you before, so I don't expect you to be reading anything new with these concerns. However you do seem to believe that it's ok to just ignore them. That is not the case.

Thanks. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 14:11, 20 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Please respond to my questions on the talk page. As I said above; just ignoring them is not going to gain any consensus for your additions and will result in them being removed. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 16:44, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Set lists

[edit]

Please stop responding to my concerns and actions with simply stating "It's sourced and useful." You need to explain why you think it's well sourced. And "it's useful" is not a valid reason for including content that guidelines and policies say should not be included. As it is, your continued refusal to discuss or justify this content (other than your usual "it should be left alone because I say so") simply suggest to me that you cannot justify it, and that you know it flies in the face of policy and guidelines. If this is the case then I can only also suggest that your insistence on adding it is disruptive. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 20:34, 4 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry I've nominated the above for deletion, but you have been informed repeatedly about Wikipedia notability guidelines regarding concerts, gigs and tours, yet repeatedly you choose to pretend they don't apply to articles you create. I've indicated the problems with this article for some time, but as usual you've ignored what anyone else has to say. I've tried to find evidence for notability for this tour, but other than event listings and the like, there is nothing to indicate it should have an article devoted to it. Please try and follow guidelines before creating more tour articles and be sure that you can demonstrate notability. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 16:49, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Simple Minds Festival Tour 2012, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
