Fencers
It's nice to see someone doing a proper job with Olympic competitors! I changed a couple of your fencers from "Year of death missing" to "Possibly living people" though, since it's possible (although unlikely) that some of those born in the later 1900s without dates of death are still alive. It's all very complicated you see. :) Keep up the good work! Canadian Paul 15:54, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
- Oh hey, my thread is still here. Anyways, in general, we don't add Olympians to the Potential Centenarians because A) There's so many, if we added them all, the list would grow beyond functionality and B) Since people who run the database behind Sports Reference.com do so much professional research, it's unlikely that the average Wikipedian is going to find something that they missed (although it does happen!) Anyways, not a big deal, just a heads up that might save you some work in the future, haha. Or maybe we could do a separate list for Olympians... that way someone who has, say, a book on football, doesn't have to troll through a huge list of minor Olympic competitors to see how they could help... hmmm... just thinking out loud here. Removed your silly message tag
I've removed your silly message tag. Please don't add it again. Thank you. —Mike Allen 04:42, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
- "It only confuses idiots" LOL Btw I stole the code and placed it on my pages.. although I won't be keeping it after today. I would get tired of people bitching over it (I've read all the discussions). People should start looking at their status bar when hovering over links; It would solve a lot needless problems. Just letting you know that I was joking, and not an idiot. :) —Mike Allen 07:13, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
I'm another "idiot" who got hit by this today. Isn't this getting a bit old by now? Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 15:30, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
- The smart thing to do would be not to draw attention to the fact you did click on it. Lugnuts (talk) 16:55, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Cesar Award Template
I didn't see it until you pointed it out; most of the older films still have the old style Succession Boxes. I will leave all of the others alone and let you take care of them. Bien amicalement, Charvex (talk) 09:24, 3 April 2010 (UTC)
Hyphens
Oh, don't get me started about hyphens, I'm starting to shake already! ;-) But seriously, I think you & I look at these things in the same way: I see vast, wide-open expanses of the world of cinema (and that is just one small area of "the sum of human knowledge") which are either poorly-covered or not even started, and the Film project discusses... hyphens... But, to each his own, I guess. Happy editing to you! Dekkappai (talk) 22:24, 7 April 2010 (UTC)
Re Cannes 2010
Great! What is missing from the 2009 list that could make it reach featured status? Smetanahue (talk) 19:14, 16 April 2010 (UTC)
- Good initiative, I've wanted to see that film ever since the earliest reviews. I wasn't able to find much info, but I added a bit from each proper source I did find. There is potentially more to add more from the same articles, especially for a Themes section. Otherwise a good idea could be to contact someone at Wikipedia:WikiProject Greece or if there is a member at wp:film who you know is Greek. These festival interviews are seldom as in-depth as the local coverage. Smetanahue (talk) 02:57, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! And good idea, now I need to start working more on the articles again so I can deserve the award ;) Smetanahue (talk) 11:20, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
CfD nomination of Category:Films which are set within one day
I have nominated Category:Films which are set within one day (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at the discussion page. Thank you. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of country songs (2nd nomination)
You don't think WP:IINFO is a problem? What would be the criterion for inclusion? Any song that ever charted? Every single work by every notable act? Ten Pound Hammer, his otters and a clue-bat • (Many otters • One bat • One hammer) 18:36, 26 April 2010 (UTC)
- Ugh. That's still gonna be a bear of a list IMO. Even narrowing it to notable ones would still put it in the thousands; Category:American country music songs has 496 subcategories, and most of those have multiple songs in. Speedy deletion of La red
Hello Lugnuts, this is a message from an automated bot to inform you that the page you created, La red, has been marked for speedy deletion by User:Lugnuts. Many thanks ...
For your note. I'm always a bit uncomfortable, when I revert, even w/a reason, how that will land. I've noticed you've been doing good work. Tx.--Epeefleche (talk) 18:19, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Agreed
Might make sense one day to expand one sufficiently for a DYK if possible, or to see if it is possible to raise to FA level. I have a rather large library of fencing books ... online sources are less good in this area, but getting better all the time.--Epeefleche (talk) 09:20, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

how did u create so many articles? Best. (and oh .. I liked the joke)--Epeefleche (talk) 18:56, 13 May 2010 (UTC)
Practical joke
Your user page understandably got me to click on that and made me smile. I thought you might like what I call The world’s second-best April Fools Day joke.

Really?
My edits are not vandalism. It is extremely annoying and uncivil to call them as such. Clearly we have different opinions about certain topics in the infobox. Could we have a discussion to understand each others opinions before we continue to edit war about frivolous things? BOVINEBOY2008 :) 19:36, 13 May 2010 (UTC)

Posters
Hi Lugnuts. I see you've noticed the new silent film posters-- aren't they gorgeous? :) One of the first ones I added (one of your Fatty Arbuckle articles, I think) had a 250px image size, so I've been putting that in to override the skimpy 200px default. Now I see you're putting in 200px. I think all we have to do is remove the 250px, and it defaults to 200. And I'll stop putting in the 250 if that's not kosher. Cheers! Dekkappai (talk) 17:25, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
- OK-- I'll just leave the image size blank. Wouldn't want to go against consensus ;) Glad you're enjoying these too-- I'll try to do some more Keaton/Arbuckle films and the like before drifting back to my usual editing area... Dekkappai (talk) 17:48, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
- HERE is a much nicer image of the poster to Chaplin's His New Profession, but I'm not sure how to replace the existing one. It's on Commons (probably all these PD posters should go there), and gives English WP as the source for the image... (wouldn't be surprised if I originally uploaded it under my old name-- Rizzleboffin-- years ago...) Can you replace it, or show me how? Dekkappai (talk) 19:59, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
- Same situation HERE for Dough and Dynamite. Dekkappai (talk) 20:22, 14 May 2010 (UTC)
- ...well, the problem (for me) are the images are at Commons, so I wasn't sure about how to go about re-uploading them, so I just uploaded them here under different titles and replaced the images in the articles. That will create some clean-up work for someone to do later. But better the busy-bodies do something like that than delete valid stuff, I say ;) OK-- Happy editing to you! Dekkappai (talk) 19:26, 15 May 2010 (UTC)
I've worked on it some more. I've never edited to get a bauble before - I'm normally happy leaving an article at B-class - but I wonder if we could get it to Good Article status? Where the article still needs some work:
- Get hold of the full article: Frappat, Hélène (November 2003). "The Revenant" (in French). Cahiers du cinéma (584) and another review of the film in the same issue.
- Use other language reviews and analyses, especially French; Google Translate can struggle with the flowery language of film criticism.
- Information on the budget and cinema distribution (not in the US, but in France?)
- Any other notable reception and criticism that I've missed.
- Have I fallen prey to the temptation of original research or improper synthesis at any point?

Conflict news
Hello! The article The Klan (Belgian band) is attacked again. Greetings Raoniz (talk) 02:14, 18 May 2010 (UTC)
You have new messages...
Hi, just thought I'd point out that the prank on your user page is "strongly discouraged" by WP:SMI. I've seen plenty of similar things on other user pages but your one is an exact copy of the mediawiki notice (which means it's the only one I've fallen for :p). Just thought I'd let you know. Please don't think I'm being picky or I don't have a sense of humour; as much as I appreciate the joke, making an exact replica of the mediawiki notice is a little ill-advised. You should consider making it close enough that it catches people out without violating WP:SMI. Regards, GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 22:30, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Check out these montages! Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:30, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
What an identify this actor type one. Yeah that would be cool. Somehow I didn't add Brando. I did save his image and intend to but I was one short and couldn't find it so I put Mitchum in instead. I think I've covered pretty much most of the major stars of that period though. Maybe Chaplin is too early. I could always replace him with Brando... I could upload another one and relpace Chaplin and Mitchum with Brando and Heston. They just cut the Golden Era from the 50s I think. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:38, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
Done. I also managed to sneak Heston and Janet Leigh in, Not bad. File:Golden Age of Hollywood.png Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:52, 3 June 2010 (UTC)
7.38-7.49 the greatest moment in in rock history? You can't get more rock and roll than those drum rolls, amp feedback and that electric scream, ! Dr. Blofeld White cat 09:55, 14 June 2010 (UTC) Me too, especially Comfortably Numb. I've just started Goebbels und Geduldig. It is sooo depressing how much is missing and how few people are expanding our film articles anyway... I might create some German film stubs today I think.. Image cleanup listing
I hope you are doing well. I'm asking all of the coordinators who haven't already taken a look at the spotlight image cleanup listing to consider leaving comments on the images. I'd like to get the ball rolling on either keeping or removing the images from the articles, but we need more than one or two comments to ensure there is consensus. I'm sure we all the know the importance of our project's spotlight articles, and if we don't have proper examples, new editors may make MOS mistakes (say that five times fast!) if they're referring to what should be our project's best articles (which may actually conflict with MOSFILM). I plan on asking the uploaders of the images and the main article contributors to join in as well later this week. If you have any questions at all, please let me know. --Happy editing! You are now a Reviewer
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 03:36, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Chocolate Frog Records
A tag has been placed on Chocolate Frog Records requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.
