Orphaned fair use image (Image:Election 2.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Election 2.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Infernal affairs.jpg}

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Infernal affairs.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Unspecified source for Image:51z8Nh4oQZL_SS500_.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:51z8Nh4oQZL_SS500_.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:35, 18 May 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? MER-C 11:35, 18 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Marychan41. I notice you've been making edits to this article, mostly to increase the profile of Universal Pictures. I wonder if you work for them, in fact. I've reverted the last few edits you made because they include external links instead of inline citations, and what appeared to me to be gratuitous mention of Universal. The one you made earlier today included a citation for Box Office Mojo that was already there. You can find how to write inline citations here. I hope you notice the article is very well-researched. I invite you to make changes as you see necessary if you find glaring omissions or errors. So far, the changes you have been making don't rectify omissions or errors. Thank you. --Moni3 (talk) 12:10, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Of course I have to edit it. It is because this movie has different distributors in Canada and United States; TVA Films in Canada, and Universal Pictures in United States. Because Universal Pictures only have United States rights to this movie, they didn't report this movie's Canada gross to many website, like boxofficemojo.com and IMDB. (In most cases, boxofficemojo.com reported the movie's North America box office gross; in some case it only reported Canada gross; in some case, it only reported United States gross.) If you don't believe me, see boxofficemojo.com's box office chart yourself.... This movie got wide release in Canada in 10/26/2001; but in this movie's boxofficemojo.com box office chart, the theater numbers of this movie actually decreased in 10/26/2001. Therefore, I need to correct the mistake in the article. Thank you.--Marychan41 (talk) 19:23, 21 May 2008 (CA)

Kids and reliable sources

[edit]

Hi, Mary. Regarding your edit to Kids, just so you know, Wikipedia does not consider imdb to be a reliable source, because its content is user-generated, much like a wiki, it lacks a proper amount of editorial controls. A search at the Reliable Sources Noticeboard will show numerous discussions on this. By contrast, Box Office Mojo is indeed considered reliable, as seen at the RSN: [1][2]. Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 03:30, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

August 2009

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on The Lost World: Jurassic Park‎. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 18:23, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Universal Pictures VS Universal Studios

[edit]

You have gone through quite a few articles changing Universal Pictures to Universal Studios, however it seems clear from the edit waring at The Lost World: Jurassic Park and some other messages you've already received above that this change needs more discussion before you continue. To try to facilitate consensus, I have started a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Films#Universal Pictures or Studios. Until consensus is formed, please stop changing this in articles, and instead come discuss the question and explain your concerns and reasons for the change at that discussion. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 22:54, 5 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mary, I agree that "Universal Pictures" is the correct term, but I ask you not to edit war over articles. Since Collectonian started discussion at WT:FILM, we can all clarify our stances and the best way to go about the issue. Remember, there is no deadline! :) —Erik (talkcontrib) 12:34, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much, Ekin and Collectonian. I will try to avoid edit war in the future. - Marychan41 (talkcontrib) 13:43, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'd suggest you read your note above again, and stop edit warring over Blood: The Last Vampire (2009 film). First, the infobox is NOT for every English language release date. Try reading the documentation for a change. Further, the distributor is for the original distributor only, not every one in every country. Finally, do not continue to change sourced content to disagree with its source. That is considered vandalism. As you are an "established" user, consider this your level 1 warning on that. As you've already been told repeatedly, take it to talk if you feel its wrong and your changes are reverted, but take five seconds to actually read the documentation and try to understand why the changes were made rather than wasting time continuing to edit war to push a wrong edit. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 16:09, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why you keep change back the wrong info. I fixed and then you change them again?(ie. 1) Summit Entetainment has nothing to do with this film, but you keep putting Summit Entetainment in the article. 2) This film's UK release date is June 26 2009, but you keep saying saying that it is June 18, 2009. ) I will try to talk more about it in the talk page. - Marychan41 (talkcontrib) 17:43, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't just remove incorrect data, you added excessive and inappropriate information to the infobox. The UK release is unnecessary and was removed per the film project consensus that the infobox should only contain the first release date for its home country, and should not have every English language release as well. It isn't a UK film, so its release in the UK doesn't belong in the infobox only the brief mention in the prose that is already there. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 18:10, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It is really not good to change your original posting, as you did here[3] after someone has replied, when your change drastically changes the meaning of the original post. Please instead just post a new comment if you want to change something you said. This makes it easier for others to follow the conversation. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 18:30, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free rationale for File:TRIAD.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:TRIAD.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Revived interest in Infernal Affairs

Invitation to participate in the poll for Infernal Affairs.

From your edits for the film Infernal Affairs there is presently a poll taking place on The Departed film Talk page regarding whether you believe a separate subsection should be included for (a) Infernal Affairs as a source for the plot of The Departed film, and/or (b) a second subsection for the recently captured crime figure Whitey Bulger as the source for the character played by Jack Nicholson in the film.

The recent capture of Bulger has revived the question from two years ago of Infernal Affairs from when it did have a separate subsection on The Departed film page which was deleted by User:RepublicanJ, now known as User:OldJ. Invite to visit The Departed Talk page, to the Bulger section at the end of the Page, to participate in the Poll currently taking place. 208.120.96.227 (talk) 10:58, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Cult Epics

[edit]

Hello Marychan41,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Cult Epics for deletion in response to your request.

If you didn't intend to make such a request and don't want the article to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. schetm (talk) 15:16, 16 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Cult Epics requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. --Finngall talk 17:03, 16 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Infernal Affairs (2002 film) poster.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Infernal Affairs (2002 film) poster.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. An article you recently created, Takahiro (writer), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. If an article is in a subcategory, it automatically also is in the parent category. Which is why there is no need to put Femme Fatale (2002 film) in the Category:American erotic films. It is already in the Category:American erotic thriller films, and that is a subcat (more pecise category) of Category:American erotic films. All American erotic thriller films are American erotic films. Mark in wiki (talk) 08:54, 23 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Minor edit

[edit]

Information icon Hi Marychan41! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. What you added doesn't seem like something that would occur in a Disney movie. I reverted it for now thinking maybe you added it as a joke, but if I made a mistake please feel free to correct me. Thank you. BlueNoise (talk) 01:43, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It is in the movie. You should watch the movie yourselves. Other people put back my edits because they watched the movie. Marychan41 (talkcontrib) 04:49, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, no problem. I just wanted to make sure, as it sure seemed like a weird addition for a Disney movie. Have a good rest of your day or night! BlueNoise (talk) 09:12, 1 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
