Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used as a platform for advertising or promotion, and doing so is contrary to the goals of this project. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. [1] MrOllie (talk) 13:38, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for advertising or promotion. From your contributions, this seems to be your only purpose.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Guy (help! - typo?) 18:13, 27 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

My addition to the page has nothing to do with advertising; it is not connected to any product or service whatsoever, neither directly nor indirectly. It is a simple statement that is well recognized in the art, and it cites a 2,400-word essay which explains it. The reference itself is licensed under CC and similarly hints at no product or service whatsoever. So Advertising it isn't. Promotion -- people collect knowledge and rightfully seek this knowledge to be disseminated. Disseminating knowledge is the purpose of Wikipedia as all other tertiary sources. Kindly please read the reference that was added to understand the contribution and its context.

Decline reason:

Actually, Wikipedia is not for merely disseminating knowledge or merely providing information. This is an encyclopedia, which has articles that summarize what independent reliable sources have chosen on their own to say about a topic, showing how that topic meets the special Wikipedia definition of notability. I think you need to learn more about Wikipedia before requsting unblock, as you have been away for awhile until yesterday. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 16:18, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I understand the motivation for not accepting my contribution, and I do not argue about it. I thought that I can make the page better by adding this sentence with a link to the reference; if the editor disputes this as a valid or useful contribution -- so be it. But my blocking was attributed to advertising or promotion, which is factually false. Neither the text I added nor the contents of the reference were advertising/promoting anything.

Decline reason:

Linking to your block is considered to be promoting yourself. The block looks appropriate here. Yamla (talk) 10:10, 29 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
