Your edits re current and former HHA members, and your interest

[edit]

Hi, i appreciate I guess your additions of now-current Historic Hotels of America members, but not your deletions of former ones from the list of current and former HHA members.

Also, could you explain your interest in HHA hotels? Are you associated with the HHA or any of its hotels, by any chance? --Doncram (talk, contribs) 17:02, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a historic preservation enthusiast, and I was attempting to update the page to reflect accuracy. It's a project that I've personally wanted to do for a while.
My impression was that the inclusion of former members may make the list confusing for someone unfamiliar with the organization, so the older members were removed. And no, I am not affiliated.
May I inquire if you are an admin? I noticed that my contributions were removed, including a list of members currently in Ohio. I don't believe I violated any rules regarding my edits--I even provided citations to the information I collected. Liviekitty33 (talk) 17:44, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Let's discuss how the HHA main page and related articles should be edited at the new discussion section at Talk:Historic Hotels of America. Changing the whole system to be "current only" would be a big change, and that can be discussed as a proposal at the Talk page. See wp:BRD about "Bold, Revert, Discuss" process, too, for background about one good approach to editing in Wikipedia; your edits making a big change can be viewed as "Bold". Talk to you about HHA over there.
About yourself, I hope you don't mind my asking here: how is it that you have no previous edits? Have you edited under other account names? how have you pursued historic preservation enthusiasm previously? (About myself, I have edited in Wikipedia more than 15 years now I think, mostly on historic sites listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. And by the way the system of lists and articles on NRHP places includes currently-listed and formerly-listed places.) --Doncram (talk, contribs) 19:29, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That solution sounds brilliant regarding former members, my apologies for not being aware of the decorum pertaining to the editing of articles here. And no, I've wanted to get more involved with Wikipedia editing in the past, but haven't out of timidity. Like before, historic preservation has been a passion of mine, particularly regarding buildings--although as a hobby. I'm also a former hospitality professional, so this topic is of particular interest. Liviekitty33 (talk) 20:59, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, good, thank you for replying here and at the Talk:Historic Hotels of America page. I'm glad you've arrived and started editing. It certainly can be daunting to get started, including because longterm editors like me may show up and revert a lot or otherwise be unfriendly! I hope you hang in here, and I personally would be glad to help you as you continue here. You've started a needed process to improve the HHA list and articles system, thank you for that. I gotta run now, will be back in a day or two. cheers, --Doncram (talk, contribs) 23:03, 15 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
