1993 FIVB Men's World Grand Champions Cup

[edit]

Just a friendly note on 1993 FIVB Men's World Grand Champions Cup and 1997 FIVB Men's World Grand Champions Cup. If you think a redirect is incorrect, please don't blank the page. If it should redirect somewhere else, be bold and fix it. If you think the redirect should be deleted, take it to Redirects for discussion.

In this case, I've redirected both to Volleyball_World_Grand_Champions_Cup#Men, which at least has a little more information on the men's tournament than the original redirects to the women's articles did. If you can find a better target, feel free to change the redirects. HTH!--Fabrictramp | talk to me 16:17, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Volleyball players

[edit]

I have seen that you edited some volleyball articles. Some players articles, most of them looks outdated. I would like to improve players by country. Could you please choose a country to contribute with? Please take a look on Yekaterina Gamova, Hélia Souza, Serena Ortolani and Kenia Carcaces for a model to follow. Please can you please improve some volleyball players with infobox and some addons? References are very important. Let me know. Oscar987 22:21, 14 June 2010 (UTC)

World League Qualification

[edit]

Hey, I'm a volleyball fan and I'm curious - how do you know that Puerto Rico will face Portugal and Japan will face Tunisia ? Volleyball at the 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's tournament

[edit]

Hello.

You recently moved "Volleyball at the 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's indoor tournament" to "Volleyball at the 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's tournament" and "Volleyball at the 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's beach tournament" to "Beach volleyball at the 2008 Summer Olympics – Men's tournament". At first, I thought this was "a good move" (so to speak), so I moved the women's tournaments too.

But now I'm becoming more doubtful. Since beach volleyball was introduced, "volleyball" (at least in the above context) can refer to both volleyball in a more general sense, and indoor volleyball specifically. On the same time, both the indoor and beach variants obviously have the same basis, and are both presented in the "Volleyball at the 2008 Summer Olympics" article. As a consequence of both these matters of fact, don't you think that the articles on the specific tournaments should have the same "prefix"; the "Volleyball at the 2008 Summer Olympics" bit? In other words, weren't they better where they were – at their previous names?

What are your thoughts?

Would you mind if I put them on WP:RM to get a discussion started?

Regards

I have now put them on WP:RM. Your input is welcome.

The article Volleyball at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's tournament qualification has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Redundant, see Volleyball at the 2012 Summer Olympics

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Your page moves

[edit]

Hello.

Could you, at least temporarily, halt your page moves from " – Men's tournament" to " – Men's"?

I have brought the matter to WP:RM here for discussion, so we can have a consensus.

Your input is welcome.

Thanks.

Wikipedia Help Survey

Hi there, my name's Peter Coombe and I'm a Wikimedia Community Fellow working on a project to improve Wikipedia's help system. At the moment I'm trying to learn more about how people use and find the current help pages. If you could help by filling out this brief survey about your experiences, I'd be very grateful. Date format parameter

[edit]

Hello Leesw616.

Please don't remove the date format parameter as you did here. The parameter is there in order to enable the template to display correct date format dynamically depending on context; in the mdy format where the United States is involved, in the dmy format elsewhere.

Thank you.

I am just curious, I keep linking to the boxscore on the official World Baseball Classic and you keep changing the link to a MLB.com boxscore. Why? I honestly have no objection to it, but it seems like it is extra work for you to change it. Plus, wouldn't it make more sense to be linking to the actual tournament page instead of it being posted on another site? It is akin to posting the link to ESPN.com's posting of the boxscore instead of the official boxscore. Shootmaster 44 (talk) 02:07, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve 2014 FIVB Volleyball World League qualification

[edit]

Hi, I'm Trlovejoy. Leesw616, thanks for creating 2014 FIVB Volleyball World League qualification!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Thank you for the work you are doing on FIVB Volleyball World League, however I am not sure the page 2014 FIVB Volleyball World League qualification meets the notability guidelines and may be better as a section on an existing article.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. TRL (talk) 02:05, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of 2014 FIVB Volleyball World League qualification

[edit]

Hello Leesw616,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged 2014 FIVB Volleyball World League qualification for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. TRL (talk) 02:06, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Olympic volleyball tournaments

[edit]

Hello Leesw616.

Generally, we don't link to very common link targets, such as country names, unless motivated by the context. People generally know what China and the United Kingdom are. See WP:OVERLINK. The reason, I guess, is that otherwise, virtually every article would link to some country, and then the "what links here" feature would be totally innavigable for countries – it's probably hard as it is already.

The comma is called for by punctuation rules. See WP:Copyedit, section Punctuation.

Cheers.

We noticed though that when you edited 2013 FIVB Volleyball Men's U23 World Championship, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages CEV and AVC (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Doubt about 2015 World Grand Prix qualification

[edit]

I doubt how I should write in 2015 World Grand Prix. South Korea's team was announced that they would play in this tournament ,but Dominican's team wasn't. After that, South Korea withdrew and Dominican replaced them. So, qualification should write all 28 teams from 2014 edition qualified directly. or 27 teams except DOM qaulified directly and add replacement.

  • My opinion : 1) All teams of the 2014 edition except DOM directly... 2) COL qualified through... 3) DOM replaced KOR, who withdrew... Leesw616

The women's volleyball tournament in london 2012 the best asian team was the remaining team who not yet qualified in WOQT. I think that you add in template is wrong.Noncommittalp (talk) 08:43, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ask about adding information in volleyball competition page

[edit]

Hello! I want more opinion. In page 2015 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship, Someone add Japan team send their U23-team to the competition. But, I think it shouldn't be in the page, because 1. It like defend Japan for bad result of competition. 2. I think it's not important information to add, because every team can send everybody follow FIVB rule. So, it shouldn't be in the page. 3. There are competition which countries didn't send their best team, the information like this isn't include in the pages. 4. I think the information like this should include national team page not in competition page. Noncommittalp (talk) 00:42, 22 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Moving pages

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Saipa Alborz VC a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Saipa Tehran VC. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 17:14, 23 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
