Kenny Omega
Hi there, Lee Vilenski! Thank you so much again for reviewing the Kenny Omega article for GA. I really appreciated the necessary changes you pointed out. I have a question, however. I received a message on my talk page stating that the nomination has failed. Is the automated message simply a mistake? Thanks again! KyleJoantalk 10:05, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
- Hi KyleJoan - Legobot has an error currently that it gives you the fail message if you have already had a prior fail. My guess is that the {{failed GA}} template is higher than the {{GA}} template in terms of priority. Don't worry about it. It passed. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:19, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
- Ah, got it. Thanks again! KyleJoantalk 11:07, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
Unregistered IP on Ronnie's page
Hi there, not sure if I should be doing this, but I wanted to give you a heads up on the unregistered IP that's started indiscriminately adding stuff to the Ronnie O'Sullivan lead. According to my watchlist, these edits need to be reviewed as they have 'r' next to them (?) but they're going live straight away and when I tried to revert/explain, they've just reverted back and soldiered on. Not sure what's the best thing to do. I'll persevere carefully, but maybe you'd like to step in at some point, as it might start to look like edit warring. Cheers, Rodney Baggins (talk) 17:03, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- No worries. I had seen the IP, they did some changes to flagicon on the 2019 Paul Hunter Classic GAN, and at Steve Davis. Strictly speaking, it is edit warring, as it's not clear vandalism, probably best to start a topic on their talk page and explain. I'll revert anything I don't like. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 17:10, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks Lee. I don't like this: "He regained the world number one ranking in March 2019 after a nine year absence, this is the longest gap between holding the position in Snooker history." because it doesn't say higher up in that para that he gained the no.1 ranking in the first place (but maybe it should!) so the new sentence comes out of the blue and is nonsensical! Rodney Baggins (talk) 17:21, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- I'm of the opinion the whole article needs a thorough re-write. I'd love to take to FA one day, as arguably the biggest cue sports article. I've got my hands full with some other things, and I'm not sure I have the skillset to do a BLP FA. Maybe a plan for another day.

Rodney Baggins (talk) 17:21, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- I feel the bit about it being such a long time between number ones is important (and ledeworthy), but we should really have a couple sentences on his rankings in general IMO. There is too much about his "records", needs more on his career in general. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 17:27, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
I'm of the opinion the whole article needs a thorough re-write.
... yeah, agree, maybe I could help you with that some time!? In the meantime, I had a go at tidying up the lead, until someone else comes along and screws it up... Rodney Baggins (talk) 18:13, 1 October 2019 (UTC)- That is the primary issue with the article - far too visible. I'd personally rather work on the Stephen Hendry article and expand to GA. You did a good job, but it needs work in general. It's not too far from being demoted in its current form. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 18:35, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for correcting typos
I really appreciate your help with Wikipedia:Correct typos in one click. Would love to hear any feedback about the script. Thanks, Uziel302 (talk) 04:25, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
- Uziel302- it's probably one of the most nifty things I've seen! You don't need a separate program (like AWB), and it can be done quite easily on mobile (which is where I do about 50% of my edits. The only issue I found was that sometimes after completing a typo, the next one you attempt to fix will show as "deleted", or missing, but refreshing the page fixes this.
- I'll give it a bit more of a go, and see if I can come up with anything more concrete. Great job. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 06:09, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
- If you go top to bottom it won't recognize every second paragraph. If you go botton up it will work good. The reason is that I use paragraph number and every edit changes the numbering of the following paragraphs. Uziel302 (talk) 06:49, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
- Isn't it problematic to have both scripts installed? Both change the project page. Uziel302 (talk) 15:42, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
- My mistake, I just forgot to remove the old one. Fixed Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:43, 1 October 2019 (UTC)

DYK for 2019 Six-red World Championship
On 2 October 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 2019 Six-red World Championship, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the winners of the 2019 World Cup doubles snooker event competed as opponents in the final of the 2019 Six-red World Championship? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/2019 Six-red World Championship. Hi! I noticed that you promoted Kenny Omega as a GA recently, but didn't list it at Wikipedia:Good articles/Sports and recreation, so I've done it in this edit. Pretend you got this on 5 October
I'm not on the committee. --Nessie (talk) 15:38, 7 October 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for your help
I'd like to find out where I can review a more detailed criteria for GA reviewing as I have been seriously told off by others for my doing almost the same thing as on the Keawepoepoe review. I don't have a problem working with others on difficult GA reviews but now I feel it is important to see exactly what the criteria really is. At any rate, I appreciate your help on the article and review. I hope I can seek your assistance in the future with questions.--Mark Miller (talk) 01:33, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Mark Miller, no problem! The GA criteria is a little weird, I suppose it comes down to the fact that the GA criteria themselves are left intentionally shallow. I'd ignore the actual criteria when reviewing to an extent, and remember you are making a "good article". I personally think these should be called "great articles", because it should be some of the best work on wikipedia (featured articles are similar, but should have next to no issues). Here's some things I look for on a GA review:
- Quick fails - Check for copyright issues. This ones a big one. Do it first.
- If the article is missing a serious amount of content (where you would expect some), it's not WP:BROAD
- Referencing - is everything sourced? If not, it's WP:OR, and needs a source. That doesn't neccesarily mean every sentence, but every statement should be cited in some way.
- Are all the sources reliable? Unreliable sources shouldn't really be in a GA, (there are a couple exceptions, but for now ignore this).
- Are the references uniform? I like to have the same date format, archive-urls and things like ISBN and doi links exist. There's a few scripts that can do this, and I'd offer them to anyone who asks).
- Notes, under most circumstances should have a citation too.
- Prose - the WP:LEDE should be error free. I usually spend most of my time checking through the lede. A weak lede sucks. Things like having citations in the lede is usually a no-no for me.
- Watch out for WP:INFOBOXCITE. If things are in the infobox, and not in the prose... Why not? (sometimes they can't be put in organically, but things like birth dates should be in there somewhere).
- Is there bad wording? Spellng mistkes? Point it out in the review.
- If something doesn't make sense (which can be quite common), point it out.
There are more things that I might add into an essay at some point if I get time. If you ever have any issues with a GAN, let me know. :) Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 08:19, 8 October 2019 (UTC)

Mobile infantry
While I want this article kept, I think your "speedy keep" close is highly dubious and I wouldn't be surprised if it got challenged. It does not fit any of the criteria of WP:Speedy keep and since at least two editors were still arguing for something other than keep, it is controversial enough not be suitable for a non-admin closure. Note also that a "snowball clause" is not a speedy keep close, and the two should not be confused per WP:SK. In any case, WP:SNOW is a bit of a stretch for the same reasons. - Thanks for letting me know. If it gets challenged I'll self revert or similar. Apologies if it's an error. Still getting my head around the non-admin closure rules. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 19:19, 30 October 2019 (UTC)

Told you so. You should have undone your close straight away. SpinningSpark 13:28, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
- I'm not entirely familiar with DRV, so I hope I did the self-revert correctly. I had been meaning to do so before, but I didn't really have the time to check the policies on reverting closures like this. Please let me know if I've done anything incorrectly Spinningspark Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:11, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

To answer your concern about process, self-reverting is a reasonably common occurrence, and it's often the best way to resolve a problem like this. I probably would have reverted the AfD close and left the DRV open for somebody else to close, but what you did was fine. Thanks. -- RoySmith (talk) 16:16, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know RoySmith! I've been trying to expand into a few new areas recently, but I like to be 100% before doing something dumb like revert out of place. Thanks again. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 16:18, 31 October 2019 (UTC)
