DYK for 2018 European Pool Championship
On 2 June 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 2018 European Pool Championship, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the 2018 European Pool Championship was the largest pool event ever held in Europe? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/2018 European Pool Championship. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, 2018 European Pool Championship), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Lee Vilenski, thank you very much for picking up Macdonald seamount and 2004 Masters (snooker) for Good Article Reviews. I became really busy and was not able to proceed with the reviews, and it was really delighting that you had randomly volunteered to complete the reviews. Thank you again for your amazing help! - Thanks for your words, Adityavagarwal, I certainly don't like people waiting for GA reviews (I've had my fair share.) Hope you aren't too busy in the near future. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 07:59, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi, I have posted a request on Shamsheer Vayalil's talk page, but any editor didn't answer to my post. Why is it so? Please! answer to my request.(223.230.169.119 (talk) 13:22, 14 June 2019 (UTC))

- I'm sorry, IP user, but Wikipedia is not in a hurry to change, or for people to answer. It looks like quite a few people have actually edited and answered that they don't feel it's suitible, and you have removed their comments. Irregardless, the institute in question Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research is unlikely to have it's name changed, without an argument that the one listed isn't the WP:COMMONNAME. To arrange data perfectly
Hi Sir, I want to bring one thing in your knowledge that in Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil wikipedia page there is an infobox. In that infobox an occupation column is present. In that column the information is not arranged properly and one information is missing also. I show the format to arrange:-
- Radiologist
- Chairman and managing director, VPS Healthcare group
- Philanthropist (information to be added)
One more thing "VPS Healthcare group" should be in the form of link, so that anyone interested may click on the link and can get the information about the Healthcare group. Thanks. (223.230.156.65 (talk) 18:37, 19 June 2019 (UTC))

snooker & wrestling
Thank you for quality articles around snooker and pool, such as 2018 World Snooker Championship and Oliver Ortmann, and around wrestling such as WrestleMania 2 and Eddie Ryan, for GA reviewing, and making review needs the top topic here, - Lee, you are an awesome Wikipedian!
--Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:57, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
- Gerda Arendt, thanks for your praise. Whilst I don't think Ortmann ever actually played snooker, I appreciate your thanks! :) Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 06:22, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
- O dear, too early in the morning here to distinguish, so made it more general ;) - Good luck with your FAC! I have GA noms, open, DYK? (Look for Quality on my user page.) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:27, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
- Gerda Arendt Blimey, don't worry. I really wouldn't expect anyone to see the difference, they are all cue sports. Thanks. I'm a little worried I won't get the participation needed on the FAC as the snooker editors don't tend to involve themselves in GAs/FAs. My German is... shall we say - "poor"? I have I think 9 outstanding GANs; so I doubt anyone has quite as many as I do, but I'll look and see if I can review one of yours if I get some time. Thanks for your kind words. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 07:57, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
- I'll look at the FAC, - always thinking that it's good to give and reveive feedback from those not familiar with a topic. I think that you are not alone with many open GAs, and sorry I won't do those because I couldn't really judge the prose. FAC is fine, - commenting what I like and not responsible for the rest. - I noticed the player because I watch anything remotely related to Germany, where he features on DYK, and for longer than a day ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:31, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
- Gerda Arendt That would be great if you could. I'd appreciate any comments. I mostly due pool articles now, as there are literally thousands of notable players and events that don't have articles, and even the major notable guys that do have articles have terrible ones. Ralf Souquet, probably the most consistent and best player of all time has an article that is awful. I'd consider updating him, but to get a DYK out of it, he'd need to have another 1500 words, which might be a stretch. Souquet has almost double the amount of Euro Tour wins than anyone else (Souquet has 23, Ortmann is second with 14, next is 10), which is incredible to me.Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 11:31, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
- How about GA instead of stretching? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:41, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
- I would think about it. It would take a bit of time to get something together, and considering I have 9 GANs open, I'd like to work through a few of them before working on any more. At least with DYK, I could nominate afterwards. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 11:47, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
- With GA, you can nominate for DYK after it got approved, and better high quality than added stretching words ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:49, 21 June 2019 (UTC)

- 2019 World Snooker Championship would be the ideal one to start with; as I'd really like it to push it up to FA once my current one goes through. Otherwise, 2019 Tour Championship was a great tournament. I have a few pool articles I would fix up and nominate after such as the 2019 Austria Open that needs some extra cleanup/prose additions. New Page Review newsletter July-August 2019
Hello Lee Vilenski/Archives/2019,
- WMF at work on NPP Improvements
More new features are being added to the feed, including the important red alert for previously deleted pages. This will only work if it is selected in your filters. Best is to 'select all'. Do take a moment to check out all the new features if you have not already done so. If anything is not working as it should, please let us know at NPR. There is now also a live queue of AfC submissions in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to review AfCs, but bear in mind that NPP is an official process and policy and is more important.
- QUALITY of REVIEWING
Articles are still not always being checked thoroughly enough. If you are not sure what to do, leave the article for a more experienced reviewer. Please be on the alert for any incongruities in patrolling and help your colleagues where possible; report patrollers and autopatrolled article creators who are ostensibly undeclared paid editors. The displayed ORES alerts offer a greater 'at-a-glance' overview, but the new challenges in detecting unwanted new content and sub-standard reviewing do not necessarily make patrolling any easier, nevertheless the work may have a renewed interest factor of a different kind. A vibrant community of reviewers is always ready to help at NPR.
- Backlog
The backlog is still far too high at between 7,000 and 8,000. Of around 700 user rights holders, 80% of the reviewing is being done by just TWO users. In the light of more and more subtle advertising and undeclared paid editing, New Page Reviewing is becoming more critical than ever.
- Move to draft
NPR is triage, it is not a clean up clinic. This move feature is not limited to bios so you may have to slightly re-edit the text in the template before you save the move. Anything that is not fit for mainspace but which might have some promise can be draftified - particularly very poor English and machine and other low quality translations.
- Notifying users
Remember to use the message feature if you are just tagging an article for maintenance rather than deletion. Otherwise articles are likely to remain perma-tagged. Many creators are SPA and have no intention of returning to Wikipedia. Use the feature too for leaving a friendly note note for the author of a first article you found well made or interesting. Many have told us they find such comments particularly welcoming and encouraging.
- PERM
Admins are now taking advantage of the new time-limited user rights feature. If you have recently been accorded NPR, do check your user rights to see if this affects you. Depending on your user account preferences, you may receive automated notifications of your rights changes. Requests for permissions are not mini-RfAs. Helpful comments are welcome if absolutely necessary, but the bot does a lot of the work and the final decision is reserved for admins who do thorough research anyway.
- Other news
School and academic holidays will begin soon in various places around the Western world. Be on the lookout for the usual increase in hoax, attack, and other junk pages.
Our next newsletter might be announcing details of a possible election for co-ordinators of NPR. If you think you have what it takes to micro manage NPR, take a look at New Page Review Coordinators - it's a job that requires a lot of time and dedication.
