I may not be here for some time to come
I can't be certain how long it will be, or anything, but my life is in the air right now for several reasons and may be on a Wikibreak for some time. Hopefully, I'll be able to return. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 22:11, 17 August 2011 (UTC)

Hey, I see your concerns. It's annoying when articles like this are just left to stagnate. The banner you're thinking of is {{Autobiography|{{subst:DATE}}}}
. The close paraphrasing in the bio section is a legitimate concern, and if you feel that it's too close, you would be justified in removing the whole thing on copyright grounds. I think that's the key point about articles like this- you can't be scared to just gut them. You'll probably be improving them. I've removed a number of the external links and some of the spammier sections, and I think it's looking better, but it's certainly not perfect. J Milburn (talk) 09:27, 31 August 2011 (UTC)
Reason I haven't been editing predictably
OK, not really an excuse but as a reason: after having some medical issues already, I live in the Maryland, DC, and Virgina area. In one week, we had a 5.9 earthquake, then a hurricane, a tornado, and now massing flooding. There were massive trees uprooted and branches as well, tearing down power lines and worse. So.. things haven't been at the cleanup stage. I'm just glad to have power at this point.--Leahtwosaints (talk) 16:51, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

Re: Cindy Wilson
Greetings!
I note that you made some edits to the Cindy Wilson article on July 4th. That was the edit where, from that point forward, the photograph of Cindy Wilson appears ABSOLUTELY GIGANTICALLY on my screen. In fact, the rightmost quarter of it or so is all that is visible, spanning the entire page horizontally, and the infobox that used to contain it is just gone.
Maybe it's some weird glitchy thing with my computer, but I see it that way in both Chrome and Firefox using a very common OS (Windows Vista). I'm a fairly inexperienced wikipedian and do not know how to "fix" this; can you look into it? Thanks, Mreleganza (talk) 14:27, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
EDIT: Someone fixed it. Mreleganza (talk) 22:56, 14 September 2011 (UTC)
Red Link Recovery
Hello. As a Portugese-speaking WikiGnome, I'd like to solicit your help in testing a new tool. For a few years now, the Red Link Recovery Project has been using the Red Link Recovery Live tool to track down and fix unnecessarily red links in articles. Recently, the tool has been expanded to work on non-English Wikipedias. A small set of suggested fixes for red-links on the Portugese-language Wikipedia have been prepared and I'm hoping to interest some Portugese-language speakers (such as yourself) to work through them.
If you are interested, please visit http://toolserver.org/~tb/RLRL/quick.php?lang=pt. Each time you refresh the page you'll be presented with three new suggested fixes. I'll be happy to answer any questions on the tools talk page. - TB (talk) 21:37, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

interesting website
Hi Leah,
What do you think of this website with lots of info and interviews on Clapton, Phil Lynott, Springsteen? (and Van Morrison) - Here I had never run across it before so was kind of surprised to see it show up in a google search for material for Astral Weeks. Lately I've been trying to get that article as complete as I can, after working on it off and on for about 5 years. (!!) If you get a chance hope you'll give it a view and let me know what you think. And feel free to do any copy editing that you think would be helpful. Hope you're feeling fine now. Agadant (talk) 03:45, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks Leah for your reply and as usual, your kind words - always appreciated! I see what you meant about the album cover on the Beck, Bogert & Appice article and I removed it. So sorry to hear you are still having problems and may have to go back in hospital. Let me know how you are doing or else I'll check back here. I'll do more work on the artists you referred to me as time permits. I had 2 eye surgeries in August and then had to wait a month to get new prescription for eye glasses, so now vision problems pretty much cleared up. (It's difficult to be a WP editor when you can't see very well, lol!) But guess all of us dedicated ones keep pluggin' along, no matter what... I'm really in awe of all your work getting photos for the articles. It must be fun, satisfying and with lots of hurdles to overcome but so beneficial to the articles. As they say "a picture is worth a thousand words", so keep up the good work - it's invaluable!!! - I'll be wishing all the best for your recovery. Agadant (talk) 13:54, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
Good source for Phil Lynott
Yes! That's a great source, lots of good titbits. Thanks very much for that, plus I simply enjoyed reading it! I agree with you on the Van Morrison article - definitely FA quality - it'll happen soon enough, I'm sure. Good to hear you have a new apartment, I hope you will be very happy there :) Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:32, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

new article on Paul Du Noyer
Hi again, Leah... hope you're feeling good or better! I started a new article on Paul Du Noyer, after being surprised to see he didn't have one even though he is the founding editor of Mojo and is a well known music journalist and author. I was thinking it would be nice to have a photo for the article and would like advice from you as to what to ask for and how to go about it? Should I write to him at his contact address and ask him if he would like to put one he owns in Wikicommons or how do I go about it? Any advice would be appreciated - I definitely believe you are the formost expert on acquiring photos of music related subjects on WP! All the best wishes sent your way! Agadant (talk) 16:47, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
- Here's one on Flicker but it says "all rights reserved". [1] I guess in most cases, it's just too much bother to get photos for articles. But they add so much information without saying a word. If you had time and wanted to perhaps you could write a request to the contact address on his website as since I wrote the article, maybe it would be best for me to not request it? I'm not really familiar with whether that is an issue or not. Is it? Hope you're doing well. Agadant (talk) 20:50, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- Per your message: Don't worry at all, Leah! Sounds like you have a full plate right now... and I find plenty else to work on here... glad you like my editing style but I must say writing is really difficult for me - but I love to do research on topics of interest and then like to share what I learn with interested parties... guess that's what WP is supposed to be about! Hope it all gets easier and easier for you now with the new apartment and will be wishing the best for your recovery from health issues . All my best, Agadant (talk) 15:52, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

Thin Lizzy
Difficult one this, which is why I generally stay away from categories! While Bell, Wrixon and Moore were from Northern Ireland (part of the UK), Lynott and Downey were from the Irish Republic, and the band technically formed in the Irish Republic, in Dublin. Whilst they're definitely still an "Irish" band (formed in Ireland and still with Dublin-born Downey, and now also Ricky Warwick, who is Northern Irish), it depends on your definitions as to whether they're a "Northern Irish band". If a number of Northern Irish musicians makes them a Northern Irish band, then yes. If you're sticking to the place where the band was formed, then they're a band from the Irish Republic. I'm not sure what the criteria for categories are, but I hope that makes it a bit clearer! Bretonbanquet (talk) 22:45, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
- No worries, I'm always interested in someone's input or questions about Thin Lizzy, and my response was aimed at him as much as anything ;) I've noticed that too about biographies, how the categories imply that someone can be from about three places at once. I like to sit on the fence with categories, maybe it's because they're not required to have references, it all seems a bit subjective, and down to the preference of the editor that puts them in. Re:Can you help?
Thanks for the heads up. I moved File:JohnBRiley.jpg to Commons the hard way and deleted it here. The easier way is to use Commons Helper.
I looked at the sound files, but am not sure what you want me to do with them. They are fair use so (as you know) they have to be kept here. They have OK fair use rationales and are both discussed briefly in the article - if this were at FAC I'd want better discussion in the article, but what is there is OK. Can you be more specific please? Thanks, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 15:24, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
- When I tried to move it, I found that it is already on Commons as File:John Sykes Vauhtiajot 2008.jpg. Will look at the sound files next. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 04:37, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the cookie - yum! I moved the samples up in the Yvonne Elliman article too. By the way, that is an amazing picture of Cat Stevens in his infobox. Ruhrfisch ><>°° 19:08, 28 November 2011 (UTC)
- The Brian Jones photo makes me think of all the physical pictures out there that could be useful here - I know when I was working on the series of Millennium Park articles with TonyTheTiger I read over and over how the park had been rail lines and parking lots before its development. Then I dug through some pictures I had taken in 1981 on a trip to CHicago and found two that are used in the article (second set in Background section). Those are my favorite "finds" (fortunately the photographer was willing to release them under a free license ;-) ). Ruhrfisch ><>°° 13:19, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

infoboxes
The Moody Blues
Hi Leah, sorry it's taken a while to get back to you... I've looked over the photos in the Flickr gallery a few times, and I don't think any of them illustrate the band as well as the photo we already have for the infobox. There's a couple of photos of individual band members in there that would look good in the main body of text.
What would be nice is if we could get a photo of the band in their heyday, ie. late 60s/early 70s... might be tricky. Catfish Jim and the soapdish 09:03, 26 November 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the message. I can only find one photo of Huey Morgan on Commons: File:Huey-Morgan.jpg. The duplicate may already have been deleted - can you please provide a link to the other version?
As for [[Archivo:Susan Tedeschi Live in Wien.JPG]], it is just the local Spanish version of the Commons file File:Susan Tedeschi Live in Wien.JPG. Re:Problem with license in a photo
Hey, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. The purpose of the "trusted user" template is to verify that the photograph was indeed released under that license at that time. As I am sure you realise, the Creative Commons licenses are non-revokable, and so the image is usable unless we have a reason to believe that Jkelly (for whom I cannot speak) was wrong in this particular case. J Milburn (talk) 19:42, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
- As for the other issue, I wouldn't be comfortable transferring to Commons unless I was certain that the image was unambiguously free. In this case, it appears to be a professional photograph uploaded by someone claiming to be the subject; exactly the kind of thing we would ideally need OTRS permission for. Sorry I can't be more helpful! J Milburn (talk) 19:45, 17 December 2011 (UTC)

Re
Hey Leah, I hear what you're saying. Okay, It's definately alright to show a dual Anglo/American format in both infobox and category areas. Polydor falling under Universal Music Group, Atco Records under Warner Music Group. The Vanilla Fudge infobox is fine, showing it this way. Atco doesn't have a category for their artists (I don't exactly know why!), though they're all listed on Atco's main page. For artists appearing on a record label with their group, then only that group should be in the artists category, if that category exists, unless that individual group member released any solo material with the label, then yes, by all means, they should be there too! However, if a person in a group released no solo material, then that person cannot be listed in the category as an artist, only their group can they be (as recording contract deals are set up that way). Hope this helps! Best, --Discographer (talk) 15:31, 18 February 2012 (UTC)

I appreciate your help, and that of my good friend Discographer.I must confess, I still don't know a lot about Wikipedia Policy, I'm just a big fan of classic R&B and the artists who make it...who wants to see the histories of these artists fairly and accurately documented. Since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, I wanted to be sure that these artists were properly represented. I also still don't know how to upload pictures of artists , which is why I asked Discographer to do it for me . I originally found the picture of The Famous Flames on Flicker, which is why I thought it might be okay. I also wanted to have pictures of The Midnighters and ,Bobby Rogers,Pete Moore, Ronnie White, and Marv Tarplin of The Miracles, who died just this past September 30th, on their respective articles.I don't confess being completely computer literate (still working on that one too),but thought it would be nice to add them, since these artists are all about to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April. I haven't had much time to read your tutorial info, but will do so tonight . I'll be in touch. Thanks Again, User talk:Willgee Willgee (talk) 00:18, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
