[edit]Hello, Lapith. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. —SpacemanSpiff 17:46, 8 November 2018 (UTC)
- Please stop your spamming and advocacy on behalf of 3HO, if this continues then you will be blocked. —SpacemanSpiff 17:57, 8 November 2018 (UTC)
- @SpacemanSpiff:Spiff, thank you for the information. This is the first time I have used the Talk pages; please forgive any mistakes I may make regarding proper formatting or protocols.
- I think you misunderstand my attempted contributions here. I respectfully disagree that I am engaged in spamming or advocacy. Please read my substantive edits to the 3HO page or my Jan 2017 edits to the Sikh Dharma page (https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Sikh_Dharma&oldid=760558681); I think you will find that they are substantive and factual. If anything my edits may tend not to show the organization in a good light, as they focus on litigation and disagreements about control of the organization.
- I have no relationship with 3HO/Sikh Dharma International or with Sikhism. My interest is purely in ensuring that information about the Sikh Dharma organization is available, in particular regarding an interesting series of legal disputes in the U.S. that followed the death of the organization's founder, which as an attorney I have followed purely out of intellectual curiosity. My previous contributions on that topic were erased from the Sikh Dharma International page (seemingly by someone affiliated with the organization). You then subsequently deleted that page entirely.
- As I discovered today in the course of trying to understand your edits, Wikipedia has a page for 3HO which is an alternative name for the Sikh Dharma organization/sect. It appears that 3HO is the main page for this entity, based on intra-site links from the Harbhajan Singh Khalsa and Sects of Sikhism pages. However, most English-language information about the organization, including news reports, refers to them as "Sikh Dharma" rather than 3HO. Your decision to redirect the page for Sikh Dharma to the general page for orthodox Sikhism fails to recognize that "Sikh Dharma" is the name in common use to refer to the 3HO organization. I would welcome any discussion regarding the best manner to ensure that users looking for information about the American organization and its history will be able to find the 3HO page.
- Does "Sikh Dharma" refer to something specific in orthodox Sikhism? If so, I think that a disambiguation page would be appropriate, pointing to 3HO (Sikh Dharma International, a U.S. religious organization also known as 3HO) and to Sikhism (you will need to supply the appropriate explanation, as I have been unable to determine what the term "Sikh Dharma" refers to in Sikhism generally).
- I look forward to figuring out how best to resolve this. —Lapith (talk) 18:44, 8 November 2018 (UTC)
