Thanks for uploading Image:FOXscoringbannerbaseball.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you uploaded the same image twice: as Image:FOXscoringbannerbaseball.jpg and also as Image:FOXscoringbannerbaseball2004.jpg. The latter copy of the file has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and remember exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 19:17, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Flashofdoomwgbh.jpeg listed for deletion

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Flashofdoomwgbh.jpeg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[1][2]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

Please stop putting up the former channel logos. There has only been one logo since the 70's, and the others are variations on the same theme. There is no context to the images at all beyond decoration, they are unable to be gallerized in an appropriate fashion, and some of them were taken from other websites (the RetroJunk images) without attribution. Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Viacom (1971-2005). For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites (http://logos.ctufilms.com/descriptions/ParamountTV/viacom.htm in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you believe that the content in question (contained in now-removed section "Identification") is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Viacom (1971-2005) with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Viacom (1971-2005) with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite the content in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement.

It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Your original contributions are welcome. --WCQuidditch 15:27, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wheelock 7002T photo

[edit]

First of all, while I'm flattered that you replaced my image of the Wheelock MT with my image of the Wheelock 7002T, I feel that showing a fire alarm that is actually installed in the field (vs. one that is in a collection) is a better representation of a fire alarm notification appliance for purposes of the article.

Also, I've speedy-deleted the photo of the Wheelock 7002T that you uploaded, because you selected an improper license. Non-commercial use only is prohibited on Wikipedia because it is incompatible with the GFDL, and subject to speedy deletion. Besides that, you selected the wrong license for content from The Schumin Web. The Schumin Web is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 license, which is Wikipedia-compatible.

If you have any questions, please drop me a note on my talk page. Thanks! SchuminWeb (Talk) 02:59, 7 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Commercial use of Image:Mlbonfox.jpg

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Mlbonfox.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Mlbonfox.jpg has a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission, which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3). While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[11][12]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. See our non-free content guidelines for more more information.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Mlbonfox.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Orphaned non-free image (Image:MLB-on-fox-banner.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MLB-on-fox-banner.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 01:38, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Mlbonfox.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Mlbonfox.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. License tagging for Image:Nfl on fox 2006 logo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Nfl on fox 2006 logo.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 16:14, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Nfl_on_fox_2006_logo.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Nfl_on_fox_2006_logo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:04, 16 August 2007 (UTC). Fair use rationale for Image:NFL_on_FOX_scorebanner.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:NFL_on_FOX_scorebanner.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ~ Wikihermit 02:13, 7 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:FoxBox.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:FoxBox.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:10, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, you've been warned quite a few times about your images, but uploading the same image and trying to call them public domain so that you can keep them here is frowned upon. Discussion on Admin noticeboard

[edit]

Okay, since you've pretty much ignored everyone who's told you about what you need to do for images (and not to simply reupload them as public domain), I've asked other admins for advice. If you could please respond at the Admins noticeboard, that would be helpful. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 20:35, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:MLB-on-fox-banner.jpg

I have tagged Image:MLB-on-fox-banner.jpg as {{no rationale}}, because it does not provide a fair use rationale. If you believe the image to be acceptable for fair use according to Wikipedia policy, please provide a rationale explaining as much, in accordance with the fair use rationale guideline, on the image description page. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. Thanks for uploading Image:Foxsports logo-2.jpg.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Wheelock7002T.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. — neuro(talk) 23:15, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Red Sox-Rays rivalry

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Red Sox-Rays rivalry, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

A big mess of apparently unrefereneced anecdotes and no explanation as to how this rivalry is notable, as opposed to it being simply an intra-division match up that has gotten competitive.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. I believe you. However, that's not a reason to be unblocked. Toddst1 (talk) 06:46, 2 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Wheelock7002T.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orphaned image, no context to determine possible future encyclopedic use.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
