Re: Regarding your rejection on Draft: I am a Man (talk show)

Hi Lixxx235, thanks for review my draft. I was noticed that one of the reason of your rejection is junk references. Since this is my first time doing article, I may need help. May you tell me where to fix it?

One more thing. The chance to get accurate source is 50-50 since the show is new. Kingsho (talk) 13:02, 9 November 2014 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Nikolaj Grandjean requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2226320/bio. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Ahecht (TALK

@Ahecht: Hmm, the history got truncated. Interesting. I'll have to take that up with devs. I'll notify Kravitza of the copyvio. Thanks. Cheers, Thanks, L235-Talk Ping when replying 21:47, 9 November 2014 (UTC)

F.O.D. band wikipedia page refusal

Good evening,

I'm writing as I got some feedback from you on the https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:F.O.D._%28band%29 page. Thank you for that. The article I am writing and revising was declined, based on your input. I checked the guidelines about the notability of music related topics and found that the article does keep a lot of these in mind (such as 'band must have more than two albums' etc.). So I was hoping if you could give me some additional pointers on how to improve my Wikipedia page about F.O.D.. These would be very much appreciated.

I am a Dutch usability researcher and writing about this Belgian band, as they are gaining a lot of momentum there. Songs from their latest album are being played on Belgian television, and this band is currently one of the bigger melodic punk rock bands in that country. This article is my first experience with a Wikipedia article, so please bare with me (and my apologies for any stupid questions).

Thanks again for your time & feedback.

Kind regards,

00:06:06, 10 November 2014 review of submission by Djtonyz

This is ridiculous. I have cited verifiable sources. This is NOT an advertisement. There are many other DJs of Tony Humphries stature who have been included in WikiePedia, like Larry Levan and Frankie Knuckles. How you could suggest that this is an advertisement is absurd.

Request on 04:13:51, 10 November 2014 for assistance on AfC submission by Erickbrandx

Dear Lixxx235,

We have aleady rewritten the article from the original version back in June. We also have added the links to reliable media in Indonesia (Kompas newspaper, Tempo and Jakarta Post) and also from Yahoo Finance. I just wonder what's lacking from the article. Please advice how can we get this through. Can you do that for us? Thanks.

Recent AFC reviews

Hi,

Please stop leaving reviews such as this. If you continue, I will recommend your access to the AFC script is reviewed and possibly revoked. If it would only take 5-10 minutes of your time, go ahead and do it; This sort of message gives the impression that "I could fix this, but I am not really interested in doing so". Considering most articles are submitted by new reviewers, reviews such as this will cause more harm than good. --Mdann52talk to me! 17:18, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Mdann52. Thanks for the note. Please remember to AGF; the threat wasn't necessary; note that I stopped using that template less than maybe two hours after I created it after seeing potential repercussions. Cheers, Thanks, L235-Talk Ping when replying 20:07, 10 November 2014 (UTC)
OK; it's just a lot of people have come into -help about it, and as the most recent AFC reviews you did seemed to use it, I thought I'd leave a note. Apologies if it came across to threatening. --Mdann52talk to me! 21:26, 10 November 2014 (UTC)

Tony Humphries (musician) page

Hi- I am helping out TonyZ on the Tony Humphries page. There was a miscommunication and the page was resubmitted before some key changes were made. I did not know that it had been resubmitted until Sunday night when you had refused it, and this was before I had a chance to do the important edits. I am going to go ahead and start work on it now, with all the edits I have. I will check back with you after I have completed what I think will be a good edit and strong enough to meet Wikipedia guidelines. TonyZ will go ahead and resubmit it himself once it is ready. Thanks for your attention in this matter. -ksc — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.113.89.32 (talk) 16:31, 11 November 2014 (UTC)

Michael W. Sonnenfelt Draft Rejection

Hi Lixxx235,

You recently rejected my draft for Michael W. Sonnenfeldt (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Draft:Michael_W._Sonnenfeldt) and noted that I should find more sources. I have done so and added them to my draft. As this is my first article (which has already been rejected twice), I am hoping that you also have time to work with me further to turn this draft into an article (specifically if there are certain areas that require more sources, areas that require less, areas that may garner an immediate rejection which should be removed, etc.). I know you are supremely busy especially considering that the backlog for approving articles is in the months, so any notes or helpful hints would be greatly appreciated!

Have a great day! Best, ARPass (talk) 15:41, 12 November 2014 (UTC)

Responding to your comment on my draft

Hello! So you commented on my article about Jennifer Fonstad and offered to format the references and remove fluff. I really would like there to be a little bit of the fluff left if you could leave some of that there and it would be wonderful if you could help format the references and then review. I'm trying to upload a photo of the subject but Wikipedia won't let me.. what do you think I should do?

Hello L235. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.

If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)

If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.

Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.

I hope this message finds you well and thanks again you for your efforts in this area. Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:20, 18 November 2014 (UTC).

19:58:33, 26 November 2014 review of submission by Saucypants

I am requesting a re-review because I think that this article meets the standards of verifiability and notability.

Reason for Submission Decline: "This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies."

I am not sure if you use a template response when reviewing these articles, but my article links to many independent and reliable news sources so I'm not sure why the article wouldn't meet standards of notability and verifiability. Can you please explain?

I am re-writing the article to have more neutral point of view, but I am kind of struggling because I am very passionate about the subject. I really wanted to make an article for Care Day alone but I don't think it makes sense without explaining who Comfort Dental is and where the emphasis on philanthropy in dental care comes from which is supported by the third party sources I have referenced in my article. Do you have any suggestions for writing in a more neutral tone?

Evan Blass (Update)

I have made the following comment on the Talk page for Evan Blass:

Let the record show that as of 26 November 2014, eight days after editor User:Lixxx235 threatened an investigation into my integrity as a contributor to this page, he still has not initiated the investigation or provided an update on its status. I eagerly accept any investigation in order to prove my innocence, however User:Lixxx235 evidently deems it appropriate to make public allegations without following through.

Editors to this page should take careful note that User:Lixxx235 is a self-described personal friend of Evan Blass with clear conflict of interest who attempted to exert a chilling effect on my contributions to this article. While sockpuppetry should never be allowed on Wikipedia, neither should empty threats or assumptions of bad faith. Wikigeek2 (talk) 01:26, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

AfC suggestion

I see your good work in reviewing AfCs (I don't agree 100% of them time, but no two people will--there's a good deal of personal judgment needed.) I'd like to make a suggestion: while some degree of promotionalism is and should be tolerated at AfC to a greater degree than in mainspace because of the hope that it can be fixed, in some cases the material is a downright advertisement in the most direct sense, or is basically promotional with no likely underlying notability no matter how it would be rewritten. In both these cases, I've sometimes simply been nominating for G11 (I usually do not delete G11s single-handed, because there can be disagreements in interpretation). This is especially helpful if it's been repeatedly resubmitted and shows no probability of improvement. You might consider it. (you'll see some redlinks on your contributions list where I've done this)

I've also been sending articles with no possible notability that would be clear A7s in mainspace and have been resubmitted more than once with no change to MfD. Otherwise they keep coming back and unnecessarily add to the backlog. DGG ( talk ) 01:09, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

@DGG: Thanks very much for the note. I haven't been actively editing Wikipedia recently, but this will be good to keep in mind. --L235-Talk Ping when replying 01:12, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for offering to be our Online Ambassador

The course is here BIOL_345_Human_Ecology. Our first class is this Tuesday, Jan. 6. There will be about 30 students, and if it's OK with you I'm going to ask them each to leave you a brief 'Hello' message here as part of their introduction to Wikipedia work. That will ensure that they know how to contact you later when they need advice. Rosieredfield (talk) 21:54, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

@Rosieredfield: Hi, thanks for checking in. It'd be fine by me if your students posted messages to my talk page. If there's anything else I can help with- help design the course, etc- please let me know. A couple of things:
  • IRC is a resource I don't think is used often enough in the education program. In particular, the IRC channel #wikipedia-en-help connect is an amazing resource for new and experienced editors alike, where you can engage in live chat with volunteer helpers. There are usually over 50 helpers online at any given time. WP:IRC has other helpful channels and instructions for connecting. The education program does have some channels, but they've mainly been abandoned recently.
  • Yunshui is one of Wikipedia's best editors (and I'm not :) ) so if you want help at the level he was able to give, you may want to recruit a second online ambassador to work with me. If you'd like two online ambassadors at once, let me know and I'll see if I can get someone else involved as well.
  • My students are absolute beginners, so they certainly won't need any sophisticated help. I suspect that their biggest problem will be working out how to describe what they're trying to do.Rosieredfield (talk) 02:38, 5 January 2015 (UTC)
Cheers, --L235 (talk) Ping when replying 23:58, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
@Rosieredfield: Thanks for the note. Yeah, I got on IRC about ten minutes after you left- Technical 13 and CharlieTheCabbie helped you there. I'm glad you find it a useful tool. One thing: try not to reply in the middle of someone's talk page comment, because it makes it harder to tell who said what in later archives. Cheers, --L235 (talk) Ping when replying 04:19, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

Interview for The Signpost

This is being sent to you as a member of WikiProject Articles for creation

The WikiProject Report would like to focus on WikiProject Articles for creation for a Signpost article. This is an excellent opportunity to draw attention to your efforts and attract new members to the project. Would you be willing to participate in an interview? If so, here are the questions for the interview. Just add your response below each question and feel free to skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. Multiple editors will have an opportunity to respond to the interview questions, so be sure to sign your answers. If you know anyone else who would like to participate in the interview, please share this with them. Thanks, Rcsprinter123 (jive) @ 10:09, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

You recently reverted this edit as "test / vandalism" and templated the IP responsible. In my view, the edit was not vandalism but a good faith attempt by somebody confusing the plot of the album with the film, which is easily done. Watch out for tools and gewgaws, they can bite newbies if you're not careful. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 08:22, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

@Ritchie333: Thanks for the note. I recently got off of a long wikibreak and I haven't STiki'd in a while. Cheers! --L235 (talk) Ping when replying 18:24, 1 January 2015 (UTC)

Seconding @ WER

Thanks for seconding my Nominataion. You can do your own "vetting" (investigation) if you choose or if you are aware of some reason why the nominee doesn't qualify----Administrator or Bureaucrat as an example...you could mention that. Maybe you have different experiences and other positive things to say about the editor which are very welcome. It's not quite a rubber stamp but its also not very stringent. If you would like to be more involved in the Editor of the Week process, let me know. There are a few easy things that need to be done every week and the more help the merrier. ```Buster Seven Talk 22:07, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

@Buster7: Thanks very much for the note. Yeah, I'd probably be willing to participate more in the Editor of the Werk process. Cheers, --L235 (talk) Ping when replying 23:29, 4 January 2015 (UTC)

Merchandise Giveaway

@Go Phightins!:One of the NEW (as of 2015) things that needs weekly handling is getting the EotW awardee a WP T-shirt. AS the newly appointed T-Shirt Co-ordinator you should contact Wikipedia:Merchandise giveaways/Nominations which leads to a soft link to the T-Shirt nomination page. I suggest getting in touch with one of the co-ordinators there to let them know what we have planned, making sure it fits their criteria and that they can expect a weekly request. Any thought or questions, please let me or GoPhightins know. Welcome aboard!.Buster Seven Talk 17:17, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

Dr Greg has refused his T-shirt which is fine. I'm guessing that the anonymous request was made by Li (just a guess). It might serve us well to get in touch with User talk:JMatthews to give him a "Heads Up" as to what we have in mind. TRA! Buster Seven Talk 20:40, 7 January 2015 (UTC)

Re: Changes to Anthelmintic

I do apologize if I have not implemented proper protocols. I am new to Wikipedia

While you may feel the formatting of the article was better before my edit. I will have to disagree with you on the content. I have been an herbalist for 30 years now, and wish to add herbal remedies to the body of information .

1: Definitions the previous authors definition of vermifuge was not clear. I cited the definition from MWebster. A vermifuge may kill, but its primary function is to move parasites out of the system. Anthelmintic primary purpose is to kill/remove ant•hel•min•tic (ˌænt hɛlˈmɪn tɪk, ˌæn θɛl-) adj. 1. of or pertaining to a substance capable of destroying or eliminating parasitic worms, esp. human intestinal helminths. vermifuge (ˈvɜːmɪˌfjuːdʒ) n 1. (Pharmacology) any drug or agent able to destroy or expel intestinal worms;

2: Formatting herbal remedies are less specific to the particular type of parasite, and work over a broader range. My research extends over a broad range of experiential work, from Native America, India, Europe and Colonial American.

3: Better or worse... do we wish Wikipedia to only serve a single class of health remedies (pharmacological) or is it better to have a broader spectrum of knowledge?

I do not wish to waste my time creating content to have it auto deleted by bots and then again wiped out by a human reviewer. So if you wish to make Wikipedia better than please advise on the protocol you wish me to take.

Kindest Regards --Miriamananda (talk) 02:01, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

@Miriamananda: Hi. I'm sincerely sorry that I came across as heavy-handed and similar. I apologize, but I don't have enough time right now to do a comprehensive review of the edit. From what I remember, you should copy the edit and take it over to Wiktionary- you can even use the same login as you do on Wikipedia on it. (wiktonary home page) If you'd like to resubmit that edit, please feel free; I can't say I endorse it but I won't revert you again. (not saying no one else will). DRN needs assistance

You are receiving this message because you have listed yourself as a volunteer at the Dispute Resolution Noticeboard.

We have a backlog of cases there which need volunteer attention. If you have time available, please take one or more of these cases.

If you do not intend to take cases or help with the administration of DRN on a regular basis, or if you do not wish to receive further notices of this nature, please remove your username from the volunteer list. If you later decide to resume activities at DRN you may relist your name at that time.

@PeteLambert: Hi PeteLambert! A couple of things:
  • When leaving a new message, make a level 2 header with two equal signs on each side, instead of the three you used.
  • Please add new messages at the end of the page, not at the top.
Thanks for checking in! I'm sure you'll get more used to using Wikipedia soon. Cheers! --L235 (talk) Ping when replying 20:51, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

Your two WER nominations

I just thought I would let you know that you nominees will, at the end of two weeks, get seconded. I usually let the second spot sit "open" till the last day at which time I will do the vetting and the seconding. This way any passersby can get in the habit of stopping by to see if someone they know is a nominee. Good Luck with the Ambassadorship!!!! TRA! Buster Seven Talk 22:24, 8 January 2015 (UTC)
