newsletters

[edit]

Hi.
I was wondering where do you work on drafts of NPP newsletters. Currently I am on mobile, and couldnt find it. But I have created a very preliminary draft here. I would work on it soon. Your guidance is requested. —usernamekiran(talk) 21:56, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Usernamekiran. Two many newletters reduces their impact. Two were sent this month already where strictly a maximum of one every two or three months should suffice. There is also an article about NPP in The Signpost this month due to be released any moment now. It's probably best to discuss with the coordinators about the next issue of the newsletter which is generally a joint effort. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 22:11, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
thanks for the reply. but where does that discussion take place? —usernamekiran(talk) 22:14, 29 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Until we lauch the promised election, the defacto coords are TonyBallioni, and myself (who set up the NPR user right and its newletter system), and a lot of help from Insertcleverphrasehere. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:18, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Remove an Image

[edit]

Hello Kudpung, sorry I placed my message in the wrong spot.
I am in need of some assistance in the removal of this image: (File:Imperium Galactic War Official Crest.png). As it turns out, I uploaded it the wrong way, and uploaded an updated version, the right way. I would like for it to be removed because I accidentally used the wrong method while uploading it. While my account isn't new I logged on to help with the creation of a page (I saw you stopped by earlier, please feel free to check back on it to see if it still needs some work), so as you can tell, I have some dust to blow off the cover still. Lots has changed here in a year. Any help on that would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your comment on Gordana Kostic, this was my first Wiki page I created. She is an acquaintance, I am expecting to add more information about her. Parking the page under "draft" is a good idea. Appreciated your guidance! Zbsfca (talk) 06:41, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ankura Consulting Deletion

[edit]

Hello, I am writing to you because you recently deleted a page I created for wikipedia. The justification you provided for this was that the page was too promotional, although you provided no reasoning in defense of this claim. I would be willing to remove, edit, or change elements of the page which are deemed too promotional, however, because the page was immediately deleted, this will not be possible.

I ask that you restore the page, and point to a specific passage or line which you deem to be too promotional, so that the issue can be handled properly.

Yours, King Jason96 (talk) 12:56, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

King Jason96, the deletion of this article was handled properly. As an admin, I tagged it for deletion and a further admin agreed that this article is purely promotional and deleted it in accordance with our policies. Wikipedia is not intended to be used as a platform for advertising, therefore this article cannot be restored. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 13:34, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I respectfully disagree. The page was a reasonable, and unbiased overview of the history and operations of a firm which is, according to wikipedia's guidelines for notability, notable. Many firms have pages which are of this sort, which are not deleted for being promotional. It seems that no one looked very hard at this. King Jason96 (talk) 13:42, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
King Jason96, please don't underestimate the work of our page patrollers - who may occasionally be lacking experience. If there are other pages like it , they either passed our criteria for inclusion, or they were missed by the patrollers who have to cope with hundreds of submissions every day. However, this one came by chance under the scrutiny of two highly experienced administrators. The entire text was exceptionally promotional, not just elements of the article. If you wish to discuss further, the next step (which should have been the first one) is to contact Jimfbleak, the other administrator - the one who finally deleted it. Failing that, the next and final step would be to make a case at Wikipedia:Deletion review, but I would suggest you may wis bto read that page very carefully before lodging an appeal. Quick question...

[edit]

Hi Kudpung, me again. I got a notification today saying that an article I created yesterday (Théâtre de l'Étoile (Champs-Élysées)) had been reviewed [1]. Since I'm autopatrolled, I found it a bit odd. I thought pages created by autopatrolled editors didn't show up in the new pages feed. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 14:29, 30 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

AfD participation

[edit]

Hi Kudpung - I saw your comments at the recent RfA for TheSandDoctor. You expressed concerns that he (she?) only participated in deletion discussions after many others had already voted. It's a moot point now that the RfA passed, but I wanted to give you my perspective. I also jump in late to AfDs - and always go right to the oldest ones, because in my mind those are the most challenging ones (they are still open after all). I don't think of it as coming in after the consensus has already been reached, but instead as clearing tough ones from the queue. I don't always go with the existing consensus. Regards. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 19:14, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello...

I am new to Wikipedia. Thanks for your note on fixing some issues.

I deleted the external websites that had copyrighted material.

I am not sure if you mean any content in the body of the writing where I cited verifiable sources needs fixing or not. Please advise.

Also - I am the author of one of the books I cited and I hold the copyright. So I gave myself permission to cite my own work. The other 2 authors gave permission as well.

I see the photos were taken down. I should not have put copyright info on the photos. They were my photos, but I am fine with them being free/creative commons.

I am learning as I go here :)

There is not enough contemporary Native artists on Wikipedia - so I am trying to help that.

Hi Goldenwinds. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials#Granting us permission to copy material already online. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 18:11, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Kudpung, you marked this article as patrolled, and the creator was blocked today, and I can't find any evidence that this guy exists. Were you able to find any information about him, or should this article be deleted? Natureium (talk) 00:35, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Natureium, I don't know what happened there, my patrolling is pretty good. I think because I had first corrected some typos it was automatically marked as 'patrolled' - I can't be sure. Anyway, further research reveals no mention of this person on the Internet nor on the museum website so I've deleted it as a hoax. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 01:28, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

THAT school!

[edit]

I think you are being rather unfair on me. I explained my comments by refering others to the COI policy. I suffered a personal attack from the editor you accuse me of laying into and yes I did respond (in what I thought was a humourous way) but when he removed my reply accusing me of rudeness I let it go and did not even remove his blatant rudeness to me. I then refrained from further involvement with the article. Of course I respect your opinion as you are a very experienced admin but your comment is not really conducive to encouraging me to continue attempting to reduce the amount of unbalanced articles here. Lyndaship (talk) 15:47, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I second that. Since you're in, I'm out. I'm getting extremely frustrated. Not worth it. I'm not going to waste what little time I can scrape up for Wikipedia on a SPA with TLDR and IDHT issues. Thanks for picking this up, Chris. [User:John from Idegon|John from Idegon]] (talk) 16:30, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Let's put it this way: Whether the editor is SPA with TLDR and IDHT, Wikipedia schools are an area I have worked in both on and off-Wiki for a long time, and in RL as an educator, and I have always advocated for, and supported the tradition that our genuine articles about genuine schools benefit from a certain leeway as long as they are neutral and and not promotional. 'Promotional' content is however not always easy to assess or quantify - the most hardline exclusionists/deletionists would argue that every BLP, or mention of a company or school and anyything that falls under org is an advert. Lyndaship, I think you prolonged the discussion unnecessarily by joining it, and I did not see any humour in your comment to Johnbod or your interaction with the author as conducive to understanding our rules - in your own words: 'Oh yes Wikipedia is very confusing and pedantic about its conventions' but it's actionjs like yours that make them pedantic. John from Idegon's participation was more objective and an attempt to explain how we do things the WikiWay rather than just yell Wikilaw at someone who, like many (most?) new users don't know that we have more rules and bureaucracy than a medium sized country.
Please take my comments here and at Talk:Lady_Eleanor_Holles_School#Time_to_reflect in the spirit intended - and note that I am one of the most ardent opponents to the use of Wikipedia for any kind of promotion and/or paid editing with a COI of any kind, but this isn't it - neither this school nor Malvern, Eton, Harrow, Bromsgrove, or Shrewsbury have the slightest need to advertise. I am satisfied that the article is fine in its present cast, but of course being an admin does not exempt me from being overruled if anyone still wants to make an issue of it. Redirect of Page

[edit]

Hi there,

I'm wondering if you can explain why my page Rowan Preparatory School page was redirected to the #ClaygateCommunity page? I had included citations and links. Rowan Preparatory is a school and Claygate is a location.

Your assistance in getting this sorted would be appreciated.

Kind regards, Alta

--UKAlta (talk) 14:44, 9 July 2018 (UTC) Alta Justus 15:44 BST July 9, 2018[reply]

Hi Alta Justus 'The Virtual Marketer' . Unfortunately the subject does not meet our criteria for inclusion at WP:Notability. Rather than delete it, I redirected it per policy at Redirect, as further described at WP:SCHOOLOUTCOMES, and mentioned it in that article. If the redirect target is the wrong one, do let me know. Please note however that Wikipedia is not a platform for listing, advertising, or SEO. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 15:42, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kudpung,

Thank you for your comment. I understand the guidelines for wikipedia in terms of selling and SEO. It is not clear however how the husband of another independent school can create a page for their school and yet I cannot do the same? This is not for SEO or selling purposes. Rowan Preparatory is on several lists in Wikipedia and so are simply trying to link to a page like other schools. See https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_schools_in_Surrey#Primary_and_preparatory_schools as an example. Do you consider those school pages to be inappropriate? I imagine that Rowan would prefer no page, rather than a link to Claygate which seems to make no sense if a visitor was looking for Rowan Prepartory. If you can please reconsider your redirect.

Kind regards, UKAlta (talk) 11:55, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

UKAlta There is no comparison. This is clearly for SEO and selling purposes. The Wikipedia encyclopedia is compiled and managed by unpaid volunteers, many of whom spend hundreds of hours working on it. You are blatantly exploiting this resource for your own financial gain through the service you advertise. Secondly, Wikipedia does not accept articles about nurseries, kindergartens, and primary schools unless they are extraordinarily notable. If non notable schools exist in our corpus, the articles date back to when Wikipedia editors were less efficient at deleting such articles. The encyclopedia has since put in place hi-tech features to better control the quality and appropriateness of articles and many, including non notable schools, are being deleted. I respectfully suggest that you drop the matter before the school's reputation and your own are marred - these talk pages are very public and scoured by the press. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 13:57, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I was not trying to be confrontational in any way and apologise if it came across that way. UKAlta (talk) 08:30, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
UKAlta, It's OK, I never felt you were. It's partly our fault that we don't make it sufficiently clear what articles are acceptable, and that making money out of our voluntary work is a big no no. Unfortunately, we compile and maintain the encyclopedia for free and write many of the mini programmes that make it work, but the people who receive and manage the millions of dollars of donations won't develop the software we need to make it clear although the are paid to. Their attitude is that we should clean up instead. Maybe you would like to contribute some content where you don't have a COI and which you're not being paid for. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 12:18, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Kudpung. I'm not being paid to create their wikipedia page but did say I would try to set one up for them as part of the other work I am doing. I think unfortunately it can be so convoluted it makes it difficult for people that aren't tech saavy to contribute. Even for myself! But fair enough. Appreciate your position. Thank you again for your time. UKAlta (talk) 16:25, 19 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Viewing Blocked Editors

[edit]

With regards to your comment on User talk:Cullen328#Kayfabe about noting currently (or indefinitely) blocked editors on a page, many moons I placed the following in my common.js:

importScriptURI('http://ru.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Gadget-markblocked.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript'); importScriptURI('https://ru.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Gadget-markblocked.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript');

Fishy Alyssa Carson editor

[edit]

Darius Alnex's contribution history looks worse than fishy to me (trivial edits a few years ago, then nothing, then trivial edits and a XFD). Can you file a WP:SPI on them referencing whatever editor originally wrote this article or find another appropriate venue to report? I suspect they're part of the same ring that wrote the bad article in the first place. Be sure to compare account creation dates. Daask (talk) 16:03, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Going to Wikimania?

[edit]

Hi Kudpung -- I just wanted to check in because I'm headed to Wikimania in a few days, and it would be great to talk if you'll be there. Let me know! -- MMiller (WMF) (talk) 22:09, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

MMiller (WMF), much as I would like to be there, we volunteers who work many hours for free do not enjoy the same travel privileges as the salaried WMF staff, even when we have important matters to discuss. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 23:41, 11 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. The cost of Wikimania is just too high. May I recommend that the WMF distribute more scholarships?—CYBERPOWER (Chat) 13:50, 14 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think the cost is too high, Cyberpower678 unless there is some jiggery-pokery of some local people or organisations making some money out of it in a roundabout way. The WMF has huge surpluses of money and far more should not only be allocated to Wikimania - and specifically the scholarships - but also to the development of much needed software - indeed, there is enough here to keep Marshall in full time employment for a year and money enough for face-to-face meetings to get it done without forcing volunteers to fork out over $1,000 or more to attend a Wikimania to talk about it.
What needs to be reduced is the travel budget for WMF staff and the number of their presentations. The focus of Wikimania should be on showcasing the work of the volunteers who provide and manage the content and provide unpaid outreach services, rather than on the Foundation and its paid contractors and consultants. In his blog, which rivals (or even trumps) the quality of The Signpost and where he can speak without the strictures of Wikipedia talk pages, editor WWB states: "There is no small amount of irony here: it’s the Wikimedia Foundation’s job to provide support to the volunteer community. That is why it exists. Wikimania is obviously one of these things it has created to serve the community". Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 21:34, 14 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ill just add that the locations of some of the conferences (Mexico, Esino Lario) were IMO, totally inappropriate - for different reasons, but mainly geographic location. I'm not even sure about South Africa. but at least in Sweden next year the Europeans will have an opportunity to overcome their disappointment with the Italian job although it was held in a remote and charming alpine village with good food to boot plenty to go around, unlike the conference in Hong Kong where 80% of the participants (the volunteer editors and scholarshipees of course) went hungry, Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 21:52, 14 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, Wikimania is meant to serve the community. Which is why I think there should be more scholarships to begin with. The budget exists for it. It's kind of silly to offer to be a volunteer, but still have to fork over the money to actually get there to do it. At least cover the volunteer costs of travel since they are willing to come and be staff at no cost.—CYBERPOWER (Chat) 22:21, 14 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Bruce Flatt is a billionaire and he passes GNG. Could you please unprotect the page?Zigzig20s (talk) 14:44, 14 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Zigzig20s, Flatt is undoubtedly notable. However, this was part of a particularly complex paid editing/sock case and further compounded by a user talk:World's Lamest Critic also blocked. Please read carefully Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2017 August 4 and in the meantime I'll ask for a second opinion on what to do here. Tony?. If someone wants to recreate it from scratch, I think that would be fine. Probably better to have a draft and then lift the protection after it is done. TonyBallioni (talk) 21:06, 14 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Tony, that's exactly what I thought you would say and what I would have recommended. Zigzig20s, let me know when you are ready. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 21:37, 14 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like we crossed up. I was trying to draftify it to Draft: Franklin Academy Pembroke Pines High School per user request at my talk. I don't have the tools to fix it. Appreciate if you at least get the former article to the draft. No opinion on the mainspace redirect. Thanks. John from Idegon (talk) 22:51, 16 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

John, I've moved the draft back to mainspace where it automatically becomes a redirect again. Redirecting is a policy-based operation for some kinds of non-notable pages. There is no point in creating a draft for this article, it won't be notable any time soon - by several years. If he wants the code, all he needs to do is look in the history. Hi Kudpung, just replacing the chart with an image defeats the purpose of including it in the first place. I want the chart to continue to update on each reviewer's talk page, so that they have an up to date view of raises in the backlog as they occur. The size is a bit annoying, because I can't lower it without messing up the X axis. I'll ask over at VPT. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 01:40, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Insertcleverphrasehere, you are misunderstanding the use of newsletters. There is no need whatsoever for a very large, self updating file. Most people remove newsletter messages from their talk pages as soon as they have read them, or they are archived very soon. I do not consider it necessary for the chart to continue to update on each reviewer's talk page - in fact I'm wondering if continuing to publish a newsletter is worth the bother at all - it was my initiative (like so many hings around here) and NPP worked quite well without one. The next coord(s) will have to understand these issues and adapt themselves to what is needed rather than what they 'want' or believe to be needed. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 01:53, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I won't respond to most of what you said above, because I find it patently ridiculous that the newsletter cannot serve multiple purposes at the same time. In any case I have modified the chart axis type to be able to display at a smaller size so I guess it will work the way it is now for both of us. I also added a link to the MoveToDraft tool. As for whether newsletters should be sent at all, and how NPP used to work; that was then, and this is now. I personally think that the Newsletters are a good way to get information out and also a good motivational tool. I expect we will see the backlog drop after sending out this one. Regardless, thanks for your help in drafting it. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 02:04, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Don't undo the good work you have been doing for NPR. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:10, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what that is supposed to mean, but I'll try not to. My main focus in the next wee while will be going back to evaluating and inviting new users, as it has become clear in recent days that we still don't have enough active reviewers. We are probably close to a sustainable number, but it still seems to require regular prods in the form of newsletters and backlog drives to get the populous motivated, and is still far too reliant on a few reviewers (currently Onel5969 is pretty much the only thing stopping the backlog from spiraling upwards). — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 02:28, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Insertcleverphrasehere. Yes, and we're slowly reviewing his reviews because some of us experienced reviewers who have been doing this for years are of the opinion that reviewing new pages correctly is not possible at that kind of cadence. People will complain about their submissions being deleted, but they will delight at substandard articles being passed and we never hear about that of course.Really the last thing we want to be doing is adding the burden of NPR by policing the reviewers. That is counter productive. My comments regarding the newsletter still stand - unfortunately for Wikipedia, most of what I do on Wikipedia is based on my decades of RL higher studies and experience as a professional in communication - not wanting to blow my own top or claim ownership of anything I do, but generally what I do gets consensus and gets carried out and Wikipedia moves forward. In fact 18 months ago I really did want to pass on all things NPP/NPR to a team I could rely on to keep up the good work and that's what I'm hoping for with the upcoming election. Some clarity

[edit]

Can you choose to explain Current reviewers who have made less than 10 reviews in 6 months will will be limited to a further 6 months use of access, but may still request to have it granted again in the future, subject to the same probationary period, if they wish to become an active reviewer., in a more clear manner? If I do not execute 10 reviews in the next 6 months, will it mean a revocation of flag followed by a temporary grant of six months, shall I request it? Or is it meant only for those users, who will be granted a probation. Thanks,WBGconverse 08:11, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Winged Blades of Godric, the text of the news letter is still being discussed. Please don't jump the gun. FWIW however, if you don't make 10 reviews in the next 6 months then you do not have a need for the tools and the right will be put on probation for 6 months. If you do not make 10 reviews in that six months it will expire and you will have to request it again. We have done a DB search and find that only about 25% of rights holders are active. Many have never used the tools at all. Please remember that additional rights, even adminship, are not a 'promotion' however many mini icons one has on their user page. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:30, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, but you need to do a RFC to execute that. Or (if I have missed), I will appreciate a link to any such discussion.WBGconverse 08:33, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
At any case, you might wish to see some of recent edits at the newsletter.Best,WBGconverse 08:34, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Winged Blades of Godric, could you just remind me how many new page reviews you have made in the past 6 months? Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:59, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Around 75, very roughly.Most of that outside main-space. WBGconverse 10:03, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Winged Blades of Godric. Exactly 50 actually. And yes, none were New Page Patrolls. I had already checked. Your name does not figure at all on these lists... Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 10:14, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The link was not precise.See this link.Anyways, I guess we've shifted much from the starting locus or I might have missed something, shall this be in any manner linked with the launch of a RFC or my changes to the newsletter. WBGconverse 10:22, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I had already checked--I missed that, Wow!! And, then why did you ask me? (It might be that you were trying to impart me some skills, as to viewing a log.) For the record, I manually counted about 26 article-patrols in main-space, excluding the 2 reviews of today......WBGconverse 10:43, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
To be honest, I'm not really bothered - I actually have better things to do than sit around and listen to oblique references to AGF. I was just curious why someone who hardly does any NP reviewing would be so concerned about it. Our current motivation is to get rid of some of the deadwood and hat collectors to see just what we do have left after pruning the bloated number of 650 reviewers - just like they do at AfC - and then seeing what we can do to improve the system . Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 15:50, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Winged Blades of Godric, you'll be pleased to know that I have finally walked away from NPP/NPR, after all these years of dedicated service to it, and getting it where it is. That's the effect that some counter productive 'collaboration' from 'Good Faith' users has on people. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 20:14, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Whilst it's genuinely sad to see you retire from NPP-related-activities, I personally think that some change will be indeed nice.As to the last line, I may wish to state that an 'obnoxious' passive-aggressive behavior, (probably manifesting from ownership issues) fits my definition of counter productive 'collaboration' more precisely. But, you may wish to disagree.Anyways, the thread had served it's purpose, in that the controversial portions from the newsletter has been stricken-out and this'll be my last comment, over here. WBGconverse 04:39, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Winged Blades of Godric, as someone who sports a NPR bauble on their vast array of user page icons, but have never used the requested right, you've got your own way - as you try to do by curiously popping up absolutely everywhere I post. Moreover, curiouser and curiouser, for your short tenure, for some odd reason you have also become the 3rd top poster to my 12-year-old talk page. If it serves your purpose, indeed keep disencouraging active users who have done a lot for Wikipedia, but still I fail to understand why you get pleasure out of your admitted obnoxious' passive-aggressive behavior' . Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:02, 27 July 2018 (UTC).[reply]
Since you took the oppurtunity to ping me,I will reply.I guess that you're having a bit of comprehension problems, of late, as evident at ICPH's t/p and over here. The 'obnoxious' passive-agrresive behaviour was a reference to your cranky attitude towards anyone who chooses to cross your path. Also, I was pretty surprised to know that I have never used the NPR user-right.(Probably,the server is playing tricks and displaying odd things.)As to curiously popping up everywhere you post, I guess we have a common domain of interests including school AfDs, COIN et al and miscellaneous overlaps, which probably explains it, unless you do claim some form of stalking which will probably need an administrative board to be settled out.Best,WBGconverse 06:12, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My submission to The Signpost

[edit]

Please take a look at User:Cullen328/sandbox/Wrestling. I apologize for my procrastination. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 03:50, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Cullen328 - would you mind if I edit it a bit for more journalistic easy reading? You can always revert. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 04:00, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You can make whatever changes that you think are appropriate, Kudpung. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:21, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Worcester articles

[edit]

Hi there, as you know I've been editing Worcester#History and History of Worcester; I've also been doing Bromsgrove#History and History of Worcestershire. Plus some other odds and ends. If you have time to look at any of these pages and give any pointers I'd be very grateful, as this has been a rather long and lonely task so far. Jim Killock (talk) 19:59, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have been watching and following your work, JimKillock. Thank you for all you are doing. Yes, it's lonely in rural Worcestershire - there's more life in my village in Thailand. I've been looking for someone for years to help me take Malvern to FA. It's too much for me to do alone. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 20:08, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
What do you think needs doing there? Not that I am volunteering ;) And is anyone else actively helping on the Worcestershire pages? FWIW I'm in London these days. Jim Killock (talk) 20:24, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If you're not volunteering, Jim don't worry about it ;) It would be nice for it to be a FA though, there are only 6 FA for towns or cities in the whole of England. It might be easier if it were shorter, e.g. moving most of the history to a stand-alone 'History of Malvern' page. I don't believe there are any truly active editors on the Worcs project nowadays. UK county projects are not noted for activity. I really ought to send out a newsletter and see what happens. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 20:56, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

RfA candidate

[edit]

Are you able to put me on the nomination list for RfA candidate. I have done a lot of edits on wikipedia and I followed wikipedia's guidelines. More information is here Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Anonymous1941 User:Anonymous1941 (talk) 05:35, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Anonymous1941: You are too new to editing Wikipedia for a request for adminship to be successful. Consider reviewing WP:Not now. Consider applying in a few years after a lot more time spent editing. --Izno (talk) 21:40, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Above all, if you ever want to be an admin, you will need to get used to reading instructions such as WP:RFAADVICE. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 21:47, 26 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
