Koveras, thanks for checking my articles recently though they're not as good as yours. I'm trying to write an article about Madlax's albums and OSTs but i don't really know the released dates and who performed them. Since you know a lot of stuffs about Madlax than i do, can you tell me the details. Thank you.OgasawaraSachiko (talk) 09:21, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your kind words. ^^; About the OSTs, I've compiled some of the information I know on Bee Train Fan wiki: [1], [2], [3], and [4]. There are also some links at the bottom of these pages. You are welcome to join the BTF community, btw, if you ever need help regarding Noir or Madlax. ;) --Koveras  09:33, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your cooperation, i found that BTF is really useful. Once again, thanks!OgasawaraSachiko (talk) 20:50, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Anytime. :-) --Koveras  14:16, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good day to you, as you can see, i'm just a newcomer. i don't even have a userpage yet, but i guest i don't need one. I'm just an anime lover, and Madlax is one of my favorite, but while i'm reading the page, the List of Madlax characters article doens't have their character images, not like they were before. I went and look on the page's history and found out that they are all WP:NFC. The page is still a good article, but since it lost all its picture, it just doens't seem right, how can you say it? It just feels like "uncomfortable". So can you just recreat or do whatever, i don't know since i'm not good at these stuffs, but can you just repair the page backs to the way it was. Or if you can, can you upload new versions of all the images. I know it's stupid to ask you to do something like this but it pains me a lot when some of my favorite articles have themselves change, making them "uncomfortable" like the time someone change Harry Potter and Gungrave --SevenNights  21:45, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It does indeed look very awkward without images but the rules for WP:NFC explicitely state that:

The use of non-free media in lists, galleries, discographies, and navigational and user-interface elements is usually unacceptable for failing the test for significance (criterion #8).

And right now, I don't see any possibility of Madlax character list being a special case exempt from it. :( Of course, other anime character lists do this all the time but the fact is: it is against the guidelines. And it may even cost the main article its featured status on which I've spent almost year of hard work...
Addressing your suggestion, it is indeed possible to just revert the removal of the images but that won't deal with the source of the problem: the unacceptability of such act under Wikipedia policies, which in turn, stems from the US fair use and copyright laws. Unfortunately, there is very little I can do about the latter, so anyone who'd remove the images again will be formally right AND it will eventually lead to an edit war which is an unconditionally bad development.
Don't think that I don't understand your concern. I too, hate character lists without character portraits and a thought of my favourite anime series having one pains me to no end. But it's just the way Wikipedia is. Being the most popular educational site on the web sadly comes with a price tag. :( --Koveras  16:04, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for stubs help

[edit]

Thanks for responding to my "helpme" request. I will use the personal sandbox, and I would be delighted to have you look over it and help me figure out when it's ready for stub and/or article status. thanks!Sharper1 (talk) 17:18, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are welcome. I'll be monitoring the page from now on. :) There's not much text there right now, so you might wanna check out some larger articles in Category:Libraries to give you inspiration. ;) Generally it's often useful to follow a precedent: if someone did it on another page and it wasn't edited away, you can do it on your page, too. --Koveras  18:31, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Madlax again

[edit]

Hey, just for you to know, i just uploaded the screenshots that had been deleted from List of Madlax characters, i don't know if you like but they're all new, except for Friday Monday, Richard Burton and SSS. By the way, can you check my latest article on Gungrave, it's about the main character Beyond The Grave. The thing is i've created it 3 days ago but no one has came to view it (that's what i think), so i don't know if it's good or bad. Can you check it up for me?OgasawaraSachiko (talk) 09:55, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have explained the thing with images and lists to SevenNights above, and my position hasn't changed since then. I won't revert your contributions but I will also not oppose others removing the images again. :) I have checked out your article and right now, it appears predominantly in-universe with several heavy violations of encyclopedic tone. I haven't read too much into it, however, out of fear of spoilers. ^^ --Koveras  14:04, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I thought so, but still, thanks for checking that page, i just hope they don't delete or redirect it.OgasawaraSachiko (talk) 19:54, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That will depend on whether you'll make the article appear as if it perfectly notable and encyclopedic to an objective observer or not. :) --Koveras  13:25, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

help with editorial comment

[edit]

Hi Koveras! I posted the Round Rock Public Library article round rock public library, but I received a "written like an advertisement" editorial comment. How do I contest that, or better yet get that off the page? thanks! Sharper1 (talk) 16:34, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You should ask the user who put up that notice for details but from what I see, you have used a bit too many expressive statements like "an essential stop for researchers of all kinds" and "thriving teen program". This kind of tone is not liked by many editors because it is too easy to lapse outside the neutral point of view when using it. Basically, it's the style, it isn't dry enough. :) --Koveras  17:46, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

well personally, if they link to the disambiguation page, then it's good enough for me. but if it's not good enough for you, feel free to edit the 300 links yourself. Sennen goroshi (talk) 13:52, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Then, personally, you don't give a damn about that "If an internal link led you here, you may wish to change the link to point directly to the intended article." message? ;) Is that your way of being nice? =) --Koveras  13:59, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If it bothers you, then change the internal links, instead of wasting time moaning to be about it, make better use of your time, and change the links yourself. Sennen goroshi (talk) 14:14, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am quite certain that this is how it'll end like. However, I just wanted to transmit a message to you that renaming an article is a major action that produces a lot of overhead, that renaming an article should be discussed on the talk page due to said overhead, and that refusing to take part in clearing that overhead with a justification like "i don't care about the mess I caused, let the jerks who do clean it out if it bothers them" is not being responsible or nice towards other contributors. Do you acknowledge those arguments? :) --Koveras  14:42, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Ai Uchikawa

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Ai Uchikawa requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 00:11, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dreamfall OST Cover.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Well, I have an account there but I only contributed once or twice. I can help you with urgent stuff by demand but that's as far as my enthusiasm goes, I'm afraid... Meaning: if you have specific questions, I'll answer them to the best of my knowledge, but don't expect a full-time commitment to Wiktionary from me. :) --Koveras  07:09, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You have participated in the Avatar (Ultima) article before. Since you have contributed to it, as well as other Ultima articles, I thought you'd be interested in know of the discussion to merge it, Lord British, and The_Companions_of_the_Avatar, to the character list, which would result in a massive lost of information. In addition, one Ultima topic is up for deletion at the AFD. Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Worlds_of_Ultima Please share your opinions to form consensus. Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Article guidelines#Organization

Plot: if the plot is not too complex, it can be lumped in with the gameplay; otherwise, put it in its own section. If necessary, the section should have subheadings for the story's setting, characters, and story. Avoid trivial details.

I'll give you not having a subheading for Legacy though, as I couldn't find anything on that. --Teancum (talk) 00:54, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

OK, then according to MOS, the Plot section in FT can have to subheadings: Characters and Story, whereas Legacy can be made into own section. :) Do you agree? --Koveras  07:37, 18 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That's fine with me. --Teancum (talk) 15:55, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Karanacs (talk) 03:42, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Romanization for words of English origin

[edit]

On the MOS:JP talk page, a discussion has been started about including or not including romanizations for words of English origin, such as Fainaru Fantajī in Final Fantasy (ファイナルファンタジー, Fainaru Fantajī) (for the sake of simplicity, I called this case "words of English origin", more information on semantics here).

Over the course of a month, it has become apparent that both the parties proposing to include or not include those romanizations cannot be convinced by the arguments or guidelines brought up by the other side. Therefore, a compromise is trying to be found that will satisfy both parties. One suggestion on a compromise has been given already, but it has not found unanimous agreement, so additional compromises are encouraged to be suggested.

One universally accepted point was to bring more users from the affected projects in to help achieve consensus, and you were one of those selected in the process.

What this invitation is:

  • You should give feedback on the first suggested compromise and are highly encouraged to provide other solutions.

What this invitation is not:

  • This is not a vote on including or excluding such romanizations.
  • This is not a vote on compromises either.

It would be highly appreciated if you came over to the MOS:JP talk page and helped find a solution. Thank you in advance. Prime Blue (talk) 11:30, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Drakan.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Drakan.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:55, 29 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article Dreamfall Chapters has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Game is not under production, and is unlikely to be so for quite time. Description on Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, is sufficient. Not proposing a complete delete. Merely to turn this page into a redirect for the Dreamfall page

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Why the simple redirect to cat? It was a cat smashed into a wall, right? Fits into the same category as Malchik, creating a public outcry. 81.68.255.36 (talk) 12:16, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You are asking the wrong person. I have no idea which Murka you refer to, since "Murka" is a pretty generic cat name in Russian. The page was originally created in 2004 by Monedula (talk · contribs) and redirected to "Cat". Alexbuirds (talk · contribs) redirected the page to "United States" in 2007, so I felt it was right to correct it to the original destination when I accidentally stumbled upon it two months later. So I have no way of answering your question. :) --Koveras  13:32, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I see. Well, it's not superimportant or anything, I was just wondering. Thanks :) 81.68.255.36 (talk) 21:46, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merging List of Simoun Media with Simoun main article

[edit]

I'm thinking again of merging List of Simoun media with Simoun (anime). I have my reasons stated in the talk page. Since you were the only one who responded when I suggested this in 2009, I thought I would ask your opinion before doing it. AngelFire3423 (talk) 04:29, 1 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Yeras ago you created this redirect. Assuming that you have admin powers, could you kill national flower, so that floral emblem can instead be redirected there? Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey

[edit]

Hi - my issue with the wording at Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey was mainly the use of the word "tritagonist," without providing a source for that label. Trivialist (talk) 21:14, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hmmm, I see your point, but I am kind of stumped at what kind of source you want to see. Dreamfall had three playable characters: Zoe, Kian, and April (in order of introduction), so it would appear logical and not require additional citation to refer to them as "protagonist", "deuteragonist", and "tritagonist", respectively. But I assume you want to have some kind of review or tertiary plot analysis using that term? That said, I am not really clinging to the word itself, I've just used instead of "third playable character" to save space, and am open to alternative suggestions. :-) --Koveras  05:36, 23 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Refideas

[edit]

Hey! Thanks for getting in touch. I do know about refideas, but, to be honest, I've found the template tiresome to work with. (And I've actually been adding drive-by sources to talk pages since before refideas was even in mainstream use, just not to this volume.) When I'm posting those sources, I'm usually diving through huge archives of news, features and the like at a rapid pace—dropping whatever valuable stuff I find on talk pages every minute or two. Jumping through the hoop of the refideas template slows the work down a lot: with my current method, I can make a hundred edits in two hours or less, which is just impossible with a more polished approach. My goal is simply to toss whatever I find into a place where another editor (or myself, in the future) might potentially see it later on, since these references tend to be very, very hard to locate otherwise. I definitely understand the value of doing things in an organized way and making this stuff easier for new editors to access, but there's just so much in these archives that getting through them would be impossible without a maximally efficient approach. Hopefully that makes sense! I realize it's a bit of a messy job, but I think the value added to the project will in the end outweigh whatever temporary disorder this causes. Ah, alright then. Well, I can't argue that more sources is better than well-formatted sources, so keep doing what you're doing, man. ;-) --Koveras  07:45, 25 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, Koveras. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I'll see what I can do, though I don't know how much time I have to dedicate to it right now. --Koveras (talk) 07:20, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
