Template Help

Hello Koveras. I'm looking for some help with creating a new template(s). The purpose of this template would be to facilitate the fleet chart of airline articles. Right now the fleet charts are incredibly unstandarized, despite the fact that the information in them is pretty standard. I put a bunch of effort into designing the United Airlines fleet chart. I'm pretty sure that this chart has the highest level of complexity that would be required. I'd like to make it standardized, but the problem with that is it gets pretty hard to edit through all of the tables. One other "would be nice" feature would be to drive categories into the articles for 737 Operators, A320 Operators, etc. The goal here would be to eventually replace the lists of aircraft operators that are hand maintained. Are you interested in helping me out? Or do you know someone who might be interested? Thank you... —Cliffb 05:37, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

I will help as far as I can, but I really have no clue on the subject of fleet charts. ^_^ However, what I can do is give useful tips and maybe propose a general structure:
    • The easiest way to create such table (that is, a table with unlimited number of rows) with templates is to start three of them:
      • Header template that will include everything from {| to the first data row.
      • Footer template that will most likely only include |}.
      • Single row template that will have values supplied to it and output them in form of a row.
    • However, an extra problem is the presense of multiple "UA Type" values for a single "Type" one. In other words, that "rowspan" thingy messes up the programming quite a bit. However, AFAIU it can also be arranged, though it won't be that simple - I have to think about it. How many "UA Types" can a single "Type" possess maximally? It'd be easier, if I knew, but it's still OK without a limit. :)
An first of all I would like to ask, how proficient are you with templates (have you started any, have you ever used conditional ones, etc.) so that my explanations won't be as useful to you as if I was talking in Mandarin. %) --Koveras 10:02, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Missing novels in the Noon Universe

There are not articles for the following novels of the Strugatsky brothers:

  • Special assumptions (Частные предположения), outstanding short story set in Noon Universe and tells about the 3rd Interstellar Expedition and it's return. First published in the Six Matches collection of short stories, never been translated and published in English. Some stories of the Six Matches collection may loosely set in Noon Universe but translated only three: The Six Matches, An Emergency Case and Spontaneous Reflex.
  • Space Apprentice (Стажёры), amazing, very interesting and a liitle sad novel... is the 3rd book of the Bykov's cycle (the first two are: The Land of Crimson Clouds and The Way to Amalthea) and the last that precede Noon Universe events.
  • The Final Circle of Paradise (Хищные вещи века), novel loosely connected to Noon Universe through the main character Ivan Zhilin. —Preceding unsigned comment added by NERV (talkcontribs)
Thank you. :) I'll keep the titles in mind, personally, I've read only "Special assumptions" and that was so long ago that I can only vaguely remember the plot. :( PS: And don't forget to sign your comments. =) --Koveras 12:59, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Exosquad

Koveras,

You are right that the Neosapiens _tell_ Marsala early in the episode that they want him to kidnap Phaeton and that they want to make piece with the Terrans.

However, their true plan becomes clear in the scene later in the episode where Lucullus and Gracchus arrest Livia and take power. They tell Livia that she will be tried and executed for "assassinating" Phaeton. Maybe Marsala was only going to be involved in the "kidnap" part, but the plan is for Phaeton to end up dead.

In that same scene, Lucullus and Gracchus also state that they plan to continue the war. "There can never be peace between a superior race and an inferior one," etc. Galba wanted to make peace, so Lucullus and Gracchus order his arrest. I think the scene makes it clear that the talk of making peace was just a ruse (at least, for Lucullus and Gracchus) to get Marsala to go along with the plan.

This is why I wanted to update the entry... they way it is written reflects the "cover story" the Neo Megas gave Marsala (kidnap Phaeton and make peace), and I thought it would be more accurate to record their true plan (kill Phaeton and continue/win the war).

AidanPalmer 16:40, 29 October 2006 (UTC)AidanPalmer

Oh, yes, I remember now, sorry. :) But you should have included the explanation about the cover story, too. ^^ --Koveras  16:50, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

I see you took care of that ;-) Thanks! AidanPalmer 15:37, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thanks for updating my table in Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. It's great to see another Strugatsky fan! =) Alex Nisnevich 22:47, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

PS It seem the edit counter on your user page is not working. You can use this instead.

Oh, thanks for the tip, that's exactly what I've been looking for. ^^ As for Strugatsky, there are many fans around here, it's just that I'm historically the most active one (I've started nearly all articles concerning the Noon Universe, for example). So don't think that you are alone. ;) --Koveras  08:44, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Vanessa Rene.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Vanessa Rene.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 09:07, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

MADLAX

Hello, fellow MADLAX fan. :) I've noticed you've put following into the template: "Someday, somewhere, anytime, anyplace." Is it a quote I don't recognize? :) More importantly, as you may have noticed, I have recently translated the Russian featured article about MADLAX, and now I'd really like to know your opinion. :) --Koveras  17:13, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

The quote is from the "yammani" theme song. I'll review the russian translation later. --Cat out 19:57, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

FAC

Hi Koveras! I just wanted your opinion on the FAC process. I hope now you see why I was being paranoid about practically everything in the MADLAX article. Do you think now would be a good time to get it through GAC thought?--SidiLemine 12:25, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Yes, I see now. :) As for the GAC, if you think our article needs no more copyediting, I'll nominate it for GA when I get home this evening. --Koveras  12:32, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
I think the text is OK by now, and that drawing some attention will make it better and better. However, I'm afraid there is still way too much OR to put it through GAC right now. As you have seen in the Lain FAC, sourcing here goes much further than hinting. I'll take as an example your ref 29: it is helpful to explain what you mean, but it cannot be used as definite proof of what you say (some might argue that there is no contradiction, as civil war, as a war, is destructive; some might say it is not a leitmotiv, just background, etc. What I would do right now is to put it through peer review, asking specifically for OR to be pointed, construction/copyedit help, and help finding sources/interviews/studies, etc. --SidiLemine 14:17, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

from madlax talk page

You're right, this was getting off-toppic. How about Cowboy Bebop I like the article structure, it's a good anime, welle documented.--SidiLemine 16:18, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Well, it certainly looks nice but still, I think it's too early to discuss things like that. :) Right now, I've got Madlax on my mind, so I've already had to turn down a similar proposal (to get an article to a featured status) regarding Noir on Rupedia just a few days ago. :) --Koveras  17:14, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

Please be aware that the article Yū Mizushima, which you wrote, has a {{notability}} on it. If this article isn't dealt with quickly, it may be deleted. Eli Falk 08:47, 25 December 2006 (UTC)

Arigato

Thanks for your welcome message. You know, I like a lot wikipedia, in fact, I'm a regular user on it.wikipedia, because I'm italian. Here, I usually add the links at the italian version of the voices that I translate from other languages (english and french), or that I write myself. Anyway, really thanks for all, and please forgive my bad english :P (I'm good at translate, but not so good at write) ^__^ Haruka 3 00:30, 25 January 2007 (UTC))

I feel honored to welcome a member of the one and only Yuri Project on all Wikipedias. %) It's a shame that we don't have one here in English and it's even more a shame that I don't speak Italian at all - I'd love to participate in such project. :( --Koveras  06:55, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
Maybe one day a simil project there will be on en.wiki too. Besides, "yuriness" in anime and manga is something really new, more than yaoi for example :D Haruka 3 22:52, 26 January 2007 (UTC))
Yeah, you are right... Still yuri is on the rise, which leaves me hoping for the best. %) Btw, did you translate the Simoun (mecha) article all by yourself? I was mainly responsible for its composition, so I'm eager to know your opinion about it. %) --Koveras  23:46, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I did. I really love Simoun... I think it is one of the best yuri of all the time, even if it isn't only a yuri, but, you know as it is said: let us dream! For the article, I loved it too, for its completeness and its easiness. Unfortunately on it.wiki we cannot use the images because of the strict laws about copyright that it.wiki has to follow, so the article in italian language seems so uncomplet :( I'm thinking to add a voice on my www.shoujoai.it, a newborn site dedicated at the yuri, that I bought only 15 days ago. You know, we can seem mind-open, but it isn't so simple... We are working for create a "yuri" and "shoujo-ai" culture in Italy, but, believe me when I say that it's hard :D. Haruka 3 23:57, 26 January 2007 (UTC))
I know what you mean. %) It's just the same as creating an anime (!) community in Russia... I mean, a true community, not just only a bunch of Sailor Moon fans and Pokemon detesters. As for the images, I'm glad Russia hasn't yet put aside its socialistic past: out there you can upload anything with a 1% chance that it'll ever be considered a copyright violation. They are stricter with texts, though, but as long as you paraphrase sentences, no one really minds. :) EDITED: Oh, btw, how about adding yourself to the Category:Wikipedians who like Simoun? ;) --Koveras  09:23, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

(rientro) I didn't know there was a list of Wikipedians who love Simoun. I'm definitely signing in! :D Haruka 3 22:37, 27 January 2007 (UTC))

Oh, well, I was similarly surprised to find out that such categories exist at all. %) Actually, there are much more people who like Simoun here, just that they have somehow disappeared after writing all those articles about the series. :( Btw, have you watched Madlax? %) --Koveras  23:21, 27 January 2007 (UTC)
Not yet. I watched Noir... well... a year ago, but Madlax is something I haven't yet decide to watch... *__* I'm waiting for "El Cazador", their new anime :D Haruka 3 23:42, 27 January 2007 (UTC))
Yeah, there is a big discussion on our fan forum about that new one... We've even got some unique bits of info about it, check our wiki if you're interested. :) But if you are gonna watch El Cazador, Madlax is a must before that. ^^; --Koveras  09:13, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Koveras, I'm here again. Thanks to you, I'm watching Madlax. Well, I've lost my words. It is... wo! Hacchan 20:56, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

I hope you enjoy it. ^^; --Koveras  21:11, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Stellvia

Misteri di Wikipedia. Wikipedia's mysteries :D. I just added it, and it work! Haruka 3 18:31, 3 February 2007 (UTC))

No, it doesn't work... It says that the Anti-spam filter has found the illegal url http:// www. suite101. com (I'm writing it with spaces, because otherwise wikipedia blocks also my answer here) and that it is blocked for this reason. And that here it can be found a list of all the sites blocked by the filter. I think that if you remove the url incriminated from the page of Stellvia, we can resolve the problem :) Haruka 3 18:37, 3 February 2007 (UTC)
Oh, I see, that's what the message meant. :) Well, since I'm not registered on Italian wiki, I can be even bolder that needed and remove that link. %) Thank you for the tip. --Koveras  18:48, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

Stupidity at the Luckdragon article

Something definitely should be done about this IP, as it's the third time this thing is added. I wonder if it'll continue... It's not funny to constantly revert this stuff (I have this article in my watchlist). The next time it should be reported to admins. 夢の騎士Yume no Kishi - Talk

Yeah, that's right... It just that I don't know the procedure of reporting to admins that well. :( --Koveras  20:49, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

Re: Madlax

Hello! I assume you found me through the Madlax userbox. I think the reason that there isn't a lot of people with that is because it's not listed at Wikipedia:Userboxes/Anime. I forgot how I found the box myself. Anyways, I've actually been quietly watching the progress of the Madlax article since before it was even listed as a good article. As I watched the series some time ago, I don't remember much details, so I haven't made contributions to it. I'm not a good writer myself, so you probably won't find any sort of opinion worth any while from me. I've been busy for a couple of days and haven't had time to look at the article in its entirety yet, but I just wanted to reply right now to let you know that I wasn't ignoring you or anything ^_^ -- Tydus Arandor (talk) 05:41, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

Oh, that's no problem at all, comment if you have time. :) I just wanted to draw some attention to the nomination, because right now I only have 3 votes... :( --Koveras  16:54, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
Hi, Koveras, do you remember me? I was following your discussion page, so I've read about Madlax. How can I vote? I really love the article about the Bee Train's work :) Hacchan 13:34, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Oh, hi, Hacchan, I admit I haven't hoped that you'd be so eager to vote. ^^ To submit your vote, go here and just above the first "Improvement" header, write *'''Support''' followed by some comments on why do you think it's good enough to be a FA and your signature. :) --Koveras  13:50, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Done. You know, I should have to translate it in italian, but I never have enough time... Hacchan 15:24, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
If the article makes it to FA, I consider translating it into German, which'd be cool because Madlax (unlike Noir) never aired in Germany. ^^ But then, again, so hasn't it in Russia... o.O --Koveras  16:04, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

And the same in Italy, doh -.-' Hacchan 17:52, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, Simoun hasn't even made it out of Japan, go figure... :( Btw, have you completed Madlax? --Koveras  18:17, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

SPOILERS FOLLOW

Oh yes, I had. I loved Noir, but Madlax is a lot better. I'm really, totally in love with Vanessa, and, naturally, I cried a lot for her death. I think Madlax is one of the better thing I've seen in my life, with Simoun, Marimite and Haibane Renmei... really, great anime. Hacchan 21:04, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Indeed, Vanessa is the fans' all-time favorite. ^^ And her death is about the most tragic moment I've ever experienced in anime... :'( --Koveras  21:40, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Eh... you are right, my friend, but actually I haven't enough time. It's one of the things that I've to do, but I've to wait until the tests session at my university is over... sob! Hacchan 16:46, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

OK, tell me when you are ready. ^^ Actually, I seem to be totally out of phase with the rest of the studying community: tests happen to me when everyone else's got holidays and when the others work, I enjoy the free time of my life. Peculiar. %) --Koveras  16:54, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
I think until july... I'm starting to hate my university :P Hacchan 13:04, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
No one ever said that education is easy. :P --Koveras  13:15, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

technical deletes

In response to your question on WT:CSD: This actually falls uner CSD G6 (Houskeeping) but usually this sort of thing is handled by posting at requested moves or on WP:ANI or just flagging any handy admin. Or use {{merge}} if there is new info to be saved. I'll look at this one. DES (talk) 22:10, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

I have moved the page The World Online to The Secret World, and done a history merge. All revisions under either name are now in the history. If there is info in the versions edited under the old name that belongs in teh article, you will need to look at old versions to get it. Note also that diffs may be screwed up when they go across revisions that were merged. This is why it is a very bad idea to simply "import text" from one article to another like this -- do a proepr move insted. if you need help, use Requested moves or just put {{helpme}} on your user talk page with a note about the problem. DES (talk) 22:25, 12 May 2007 (UTC)

Congrats!

Congratulations! I see you finally passed Madlax through FAC, and it's good to see it passed without any objections. Sorry I wasn't around at the time, but I see you didn't need my Support!

Keep it up! --SidiLemine 13:02, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Well, actually, there were objections (they were blanked and linked by Raul at some point) but I guess the supports have outweighed them. ^^ Btw, thank you so much for helping me with the article and keeping my overconfidence at bay - without your restraining I'd've probably nominated it too early, got it failed and lost all interest. ^^; Currently, I'm thinking of passing the Madlax eps list and .hack//Sign for FL and FA, respectively: the former can't be too difficult (considering other featured anime ep lists) but the latter'll have to wait until Kazu-kun is done with his plans for it. Also on the list is translating Madlax to German and Italian (if Hacchan has enough time). %) --Koveras  13:15, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

TsW - Exodus Guild

Hey Koveras,

I added The Exodus Syndicate to The Secret World wiki under external links cause I believe that it might be important for those interested in the game to know that there are quality guilds out there, just as there are fan sites and that we are the first to sign up for the game. Going on 3 years, we are a very serious and professional guild and we provide though-out services to our members on a daily basis. If there are fan sites listed, there should be guilds listed.

Me and the two other management persons have invested time and money and we, in my opinion, deserve to be on The Secret World wiki.

Thank you,

Lion Martinez

Parser function install questions

Hey there,

I'm just taking a random shot to see if you might be able to help me out with "parser functions" since you're on the list of Wikipedians_who_understand_ParserFunctions @ http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Category:Wikipedians_who_understand_ParserFunctions.

If I'm a bother, I apologize in advance. If not, I'd love some advice. I installed my wiki 2+ weeks ago & have been having problems with the templates because I think I lack parser functions. I'm not sure. Thanks,

Brandon cdibrandon@gmail.com -- if you wouldn't mind emailing me here, I'd sincerely appreciate it. I do like 2000 things a day & might not remember to come back here. I hope I remember, but an email would be very appreciated. p.s. I went through this page, http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/ParserFunctions, added the 3 .php files & added the line of code to the localsettings.php file & got lots of errors -- tried both lines of code. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Brandonna (talkcontribs)

Hi - sorry about that really confusing edit to the dab page. Following the result of an AfD, I redirected lots of character pages to the main page for that anime, but for some reason I forgot to redirect that one. It's fixed now :) ELIMINATORJR 12:11, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

List of Anime secndary characters

Do you list every single minor one-episode threat-of-the-week for every anime? The demon brothers were kind of a cool parallel to Dante and Vergil, but you still haven't given a rationale for their notability. They were around for one episode, and Dante killed both of them without even seeming to take his hand out of his pocket. As of now, they aren't any more notable than the demon who loved a human woman in the third episode as a kind of parallel to Sparda and Eva. --Boradis 06:31, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

This is probably also better discussed on either the anime page or the characters page. If the consensus is that such a page is needed, one will be made. --Boradis 06:34, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Kazantsev article changes.

Hallo Koveras, I'm new to wikipedia so I don't know all the exact conventions. You are right to object my changes. My intention, after adding the details on Kasantsev endgame activity, was to take away the links to the dates, which seem irrelevant in my opinion. Feel free to contact me for any further comments.
