Hey there. I've blocked all the accounts and the IP you reported (plus User:Rodrigo Lopez, who seems to be the same guy) but you might want to pop over to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Bsktblldn619 and give your input. I came into this late and it would be helpful if you could comment on that page to explain exactly what's been going on with this person. Phillies Mets

Hey KillerVogel - I added two sub sections on the Phillies-Mets rivalry page. It's the first steps into the 1980s-history which I believe to be important to understanding today's rivalry. I remember the Mets-Phillies game in the late 1980s when the Mets fans would come down and tell us how much better Howard Johnson was than Schmidt. The Dykstra piece is key because it was fun to have him and rub it in the Mets' face about what a lopsided trade it was. Any suggestions on page-presentation would be welcome. Best regards! Very nice clean-up and formatting. As always, it's a pleasure working with you. Smel4727 (talk) 22:17, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

As per-yesterday, I appreciate your ongoing copy-edits. Smel4727 (talk) 14:12, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

Google news is outstanding. I search Google under, say, "Phillies Mets brawl" and then specify a series of dates - say 1989 or 1990. Then go to Google: News. It returns newspaper articles. Most are paid archives but there's a handful that are free and have the original article. Just look for the references without a price next to it.

I won't be around for the next few weeks, and I just wanted to let you know that if you resume working on the list, and you feel it's ready, you should go ahead and nominate it at FLC and not wait for me to return. -- Scorpion0422 20:32, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

Worcester Ruby Legs ==> Worcester Worcesters

This move was a bit abrupt and discussion-free. I'm not saying it wasn't proper, but given that most sites (and most pertinently Retrosheet) refer to them as the Ruby Legs, I think it needs a bit more justification than has been provided thus far. -Dewelar (talk) 17:40, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Looking more closely at the source, if anything it supports just "Worcesters" (in the same way that the predecessor of the Pirates was simply the "Alleghenys", and the "Pittsburg" part was appended later), not "Worcester Worcesters", which is really nonsensical when you consider it. -Dewelar (talk) 17:45, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Abrupt, in this case, just meant "without warning". I agree, as I said above, that the name of the team was, if anything, "Worcesters". However, the page had been at Ruby Legs for nearly a year, and was moved to Ruby Legs by an editor (Neonblak) whom I trust above most others on 19th century baseball. I'll live with it either way, I would just have thought there'd be more discussion, at least at the Worcesters talk page. -Dewelar (talk) 18:58, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
Sounds like a good plan. It would be good to nail it down. -Dewelar (talk) 19:59, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Phils' White House visit

Hi, Killervogel5. I recently joined Wikipedia and am still learning. I just added a section to the 2009 Phils season page, re the White House visit. My reference to the philly.com article has a defect in formatting. I am going to try and find the proper formatting info on one of the Wikipedia pages, e.g., Wiki Manual of Style, etc. In the meantime, if you can offer any suggestions, they would be appreciated. Removal of Target Field

If Target Field was removed from the Twins infobox, why is the new Marlins Stadium in the Marlins infobox? Also in 2008, Citi Field and New Yankee Stadium were both listed in the Mets and Yanks team infoboxes. 146.95.136.192 (talk) 18:29, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Hello fellow Wikipedian. I am not sure I understand your revert of my edit on the Brett Myers article. The fact that Myers called Carchidi a retard and told him he doesn't know anything about baseball is actually the start of when this heated exchange went overboard. Please respond on my talkpage. Thanks! Faethon Ghost (talk) 19:35, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

I don't think that pointing out that the argument erupted when Myers called him a retard and was asked how to spell 'retard' is 'wanton profanity' or redundant. I think it is essential to the section because this is where Myers really loses his temper. I guess we don't need to say that Myers told him he doesn't 'know shit about fucking baseball', but the fact that he called him a 'retard' is important. Thanks for the quick response. Faethon Ghost (talk) 19:51, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Well the offensiveness of the word retard is exactly WHY I think it should be included. Myers directly insults the man by calling him this word, and the man responds calmly by saying "how do you spell 'retard'?" which is where everything hit the fan. I just think the way it is now downplays the entire incident. It was a pretty big deal. Let me know what you think, I appreciate your thoughts. ~~ —Preceding unsigned comment added by Faethon Ghost (talkcontribs) 20:09, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Pete Rose

You make a valid point that not even DiMaggio had the list of pitchers off whom he got his 56 hits, but I still found that list kinda relevant. More relevant than the Jim Gray interview.--Johnny Spasm (talk) 00:54, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Honestly, my point was more that I think that Jim Gray interview is stupid. Maybe it's relevatant on his site because I've never heard of him, but is that really something that deserves that much space on Pete Rose's?--Johnny Spasm (talk) 09:16, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Pete Rose

I just left a message for Wizardman as he is one of the few administrators I am familiar with. If you read the discussion that went on about Pete Rose's infobox, I'm just doing what the concensus seemed to be. You'll also note that I pointed out in that discussion that he was pulling this crap for a while.

I don't know what is wrong with him. He seems to follow me around reverting edits I do and changing things I've written for the worse. I've looked at his talk page, and it isn't just me he does this to.

I don't really feel that I am in violation of anything; I went along with the concensus on Rickey Henderson which, by the way, I ABSOLUTELY disagree with. This doesn't seem to be a personality trait Yankees10 has.--Johnny Spasm (talk) 20:11, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

  • I understand that, but including CS only in the catcher's article builds in a bias wherein Wikipedia is effectively saying that catchers are the only force that play a part in controlling the running game, which is fundamentally untrue. I'm not saying include +/- or UZR or other advanced fielding stats, I'm just saying that at least SB/CS (and perhaps pickoffs as a particular kind of fielding out) are necessary to understand the full contribution of a pitcher to fielding. Harridge & Giles trophies

Hi, KV5. As you may have seen on the Talk page for List of Major League Baseball awards, I found web sources for the ALCS & NLCS trophies. I realize that neither one has its own Wiki article. All the same, both trophies are mentioned in the respective ALCS/NLCS articles -- albeit without citation/verification (before today). After finding sources on the web, I just added footnote references to both the ALCS and NLCS pages. May I suggest adding the two trophies back onto the List of Major League Baseball awards? They are, in fact, MLB trophies and (arguably) second only to the Commissioner's Trophy. The absence of corresponding Wiki pages might be an impetus for someone to create pages for them. Thank you for considering this suggestion. Eagle4000 (talk) 03:06, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

DYK nomination of List of Major League Baseball awards

To be more specific, I think the article is fine, but I suggested a hook that I think would be more interesting (I think there are several possible more interesting hooks for this article, although the original does have the virtue of summarizing the article) and the source for the hook doesn't quite state the fact given in the hook, but merely implies it (although I know it is true, and I am sure a direct source could be found). See if you like my suggested alternative (I already supplied a reference for it to the article). Rlendog (talk) 19:31, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Can you please cite the definite rule imposed by Wiki on what is allowed (or disallowed) in any Infobox information or how many you can list (up to six)? I quote your comment: "do not include non-Triple Crown stats unless the player is a franchise/MLB career leader." Since when did that rule you cite start after you have seen it all this time, when you can list up to six pieces of information? If you can't supply that specific rule against allowing other information such as H and D, I'm going to add them back. Thanks. Katydidit (talk) 18:38, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Career Managerial Record of Charlie Manuel

I feel I've got to remind you of the discussion we had a few weeks back about this issue. I objected to the removal of the career managerial record table, and because you insisted on continuing to remove it, I gave it its own article. If the table is left in the article, I also see no reason for it to have its own article. You'll recall that that solution was not even my first choice. It was your insistance that the abscence of such a table was established "consensus" that prompted me to split it into a separate article.

Frankly, I'd love to know what prompted you to decide to leave the table in the article as it is now. In any case, the bottom line, for me, is this: if the table is left in the article, I have no objection to the deletion of the separate article. I maintain that the table is a perfctly readable and valuable addition to the article...and why not have ample readable, sensible information in each and every article? This is, after all, an encyclopedia. I also have to continue to object to the "consensus" against the inclusion of such tables. Look at the pages of coaches and managers at the professional and collegiate level, you'll find that most include a records table...and I applaude this.

Anyway, I've posted our original coversation from the Charlie Manuel talk page below for your reference:

== Managerial Record ==

I undid the removal of the record table. If folks disagree, that's fine. I'm not trying to monopolize. I do, however, wish to register my objection. First, look at the majority of coaching pages in general: not only do they have record tables, most have seen people add such tables recently--steps I strongly support. I think it's great information to have and look at. I can understand how such tables can visually dominate the article, but Charlie Manuel simply has not been manager long enough for that to be a problem (if it were, one might create a separate article to house it). Also, myself and others have taken steps to ensure that such tables are not visually overwhelming by adding such things as color coding, double thick lines, and descriptions. I welcome other comments, but must register my own opinion. It is doing a disservice tot he article to remove this information. EATC (talk) 01:00, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

The consensus at WT:MLB has been to remove statistical tables from player articles because they are becoming substitutes for prose. The pertinent information in the table should be available in the prose or, if it's not, should be made available as such. I am going to remove the table again per the established consensus. KV5 (TalkPhils) 01:14, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Boy, consensus just must not mean what it used to. Look at MLB managers' pages...how many of them have that exact table? Why stop there? Look at football coaches, basketball, hockey, even college! Nevertheless, as I stated, my intention was not to start a war, and certainly not to "substitute for prose". Therefore, I have come up with a compromise. EATC (talk) 01:44, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

I am glad to see a consensus seems to have been reached. EATC (talk) 20:36, 28 August 2009 (UTC)

Great, I've added my opinion to your project baseball talk page. Funny how the sum total of the "consensus" was you and two other people just agreeing with each other. And I've gotta say again, consensus just doen't have much meaning when every other baseball manager's page includes some version of this table. It's cool I guess, you just seem to want to monopolize on page to format it how you think it should be. I've pasted what I posted on baseball project talk page below.

categories re Phillies awards

Hi, KV5. I noticed you removed the nav boxes from the Phillies awards page. I did not realize they should go only on pages to which the nav box is linked. I will follow that policy from now on. I also noticed that you removed the article's 2 categories. Would it be alright if I restore them? They are: Category:Philadelphia Phillies|Award winners; Category:Baseball awards and trophies. Thank you for your patience. I have so much to learn about Wiki guidelines & policies. Eagle4000 (talk) 17:39, 30 August 2009 (UTC)

FLC note

Hey KV5, just thought you'd like to know I've nominated Major League Baseball All-Star Game MVP Award over at FLC. Nom is here. Staxringold talkcontribs 03:56, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

  • Looks good to me. The only thing I might do is 1. Move Cy Young Award directly under MVP (it's of similar status) and 2. Move Babe Ruth Award into the third column. That keeps them balanced; puts MVP and CYA together; puts World Series, LCS, and ASG MVPs together; and keeps most of the "name" awards (Branch Rickey, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, etc) together. Staxringold talkcontribs 14:44, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
  • Oh, but if we're doing this based on that BB-Ref page you need to include the TSN awards it does. Staxringold talkcontribs 14:46, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
  • First I definitely agree with the merge, it's one award under two names (like how the MVP award article is formatted). Second, I think it's clearly notable enough for inclusion. Our goal should be expansion from that list where it is logical (I mostly just don't want DHL Delivery Man, because that award is a brand-new direct clone of the Rolaids award). Staxringold talkcontribs 14:58, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
  • Actually no. They kept presenting the TSN award, I think the current format (with a reference to the full article and listing all the winners up to 04/05 when the MLB award was introduced) is the right way. Staxringold talkcontribs 15:01, 1 September 2009 (UTC)
