Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Pyrmont Brewery circa 1880 from Pyrmont Bridge (towards Pyrmont).jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Pyrmont Brewery circa 1880 from Pyrmont Bridge (towards Pyrmont).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Quick summary with respect to copyright around this article - those slides are all my own work I can assure you there is no violation going on here The 1880s photo is well out of copyright and searching for it has

I don’t think we should just let history die

Also why is adding articles so hard - say I was elderly on a computer - there is a real barrier here for content that will get lost

I’m an absolute supporter of Creative Commons, and yes have to be carful around ‘fair use’ and so on - but I’m also in favour of if no one is complaining then let it go - this way it becomes self moderating - denying any new article is not beneficial to anyone that might be able to contribute or improve the article or hey my great grandad took that picture here’s the original etc....

(sorry for the rant, I appreciate it’s not easy)

I can’t understand why an article seed can not be planted here for others to add any info they might have on a brewery in the late 1880s

This is Australian brewing history Kev Lambert (talk) 12:23, 9 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Too sad Nothing wrong with this article Kev Lambert (talk) 06:17, 9 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Kevleyski

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username EchidnaLives, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Drink while you think, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|EchidnaLives}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Have added references, its great well known game and has value to be included for prosterity Kev Lambert (talk) 10:09, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate you want to create an article, but unfortunately this is an unencyclopedic topic, and hasn't got a lot of coverage other than guides on how to play the game. However, acknowledging you are contesting it, I have not readded the proposed deletion tag, and have nominated it for AfD (Articles for Deletion), where people discuss this topic and whether deletion is appropriate. Now, the community can decide. You can see the notice below. Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia, echidnaLives - talk - edits 10:23, 24 November 2022 (UTC).[reply]

No problem but let’s consider to remove the other drinking games in this case, I just used them as a template for one that I knew to be popular Kev Lambert (talk) 11:05, 24 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I completely understand using other articles as a template, however the main problem was citations. Here's a comparison between the Drink while you think article and Never have I ever:
Drink while you think:
https://drinkinggamezone.com/drinking-games/drink-while-you-think - Guide to the game is not significant coverage
https://www.glasswithatwist.com/articles/the-name-game.html - Guide to the game is not significant coverage
https://matadornetwork.com/read/drinking-games-can-play-bar/ - Slight mention and rules are not significant coverage
https://www.barnonedrinks.com/games/t/think-while-you-drink-19.html - Guide to the game is not significant coverage
Never have I ever:
https://www.thefreelibrary.com/Ping-pong,+endurance,+card,+and+other+types+of+drinking+games:+are+...-a0165912679 - Article by the Journal of Alcohol & Drug Education, all about topic and reliable, significant coverage
https://flathatnews.com/2007/03/25/ten-reasons-not-hook-drunk/ - Mentions simple rules of game, doesn't contribute to significant coverage but does back up a claim in the article.
https://www.dnainfo.com/chicago/20150526/lakeview/cards-against-humanity-puts-kibosh-on-under-guns-show-theater/ - Major Chicago news outlet, significant coverage and backs up claim.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/elmhurst/community/chi-ugc-article-never-have-i-ever-improv-at-under-the-gun-the-2015-06-02-story.html - Significant coverage, another major outlet, reliable.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rMBhQIx-U4 - Youtube is generally unreliable, but this backs up a claim about the movie, considered reliable and significant coverage (in context of article).
I must clarify, I am not doing writing this to try and prove you wrong. It's because, looking at your edits, you're an editor with a lot of promise. You have made good contributions, and I trust that, with guidance, you could become a great article writer!
Another thing I would like to say is: The articles for deletion process is not immediate. Neither is proposed deletion. They both take a week, and with AfD, it could go on for longer. Therefore, if there is significant coverage, you can add it to the article, and the discussion could result in WP:HEY, when a nominated article for deletion is improved before the end of the discussion, and is subsequently kept. Alternatively, you could request that it is moved to the draft namespace, where the article can be worked on before coming back into the main part of Wikipedia. (If the article ends up being deleted, you can get it undeleted to the draft space at WP:REFUND)
If you do choose to improve the article, I wish you good luck. If the article gets deleted, I would encourage you to continue working on other articles and areas, unless you want to request undeletion as I said above. And, of course, the community could still decide to keep it. We'll see what consensus emerges.
If you have any questions, I would encourage you to let me know through {{ping}}, or drop a message at my talk page, and I'll help you out. Thanks, echidnaLives - talk - edits 11:43, 24 November 2022 (UTC)>[reply]
