Welcome!

Hello, VisitGeneseeNY, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Genesee County, New York, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, visit the Teahouse, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome!   –Skywatcher68 (talk) 14:44, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning,
As the official tourism destination marketing organization, working on behalf of the Genesee County goverment - we have been asked to review the information to insert corrections or make additions to missing information. The link that I corrected hasn't been an active website in 20 or more years. Is there another process for communities to make corrections and updates to things like area attractions -parks etc? Hi, all edit requests should be made on the corresponding talk pages of the articles you have a conflict of interest. When opening a new topic for an edit request, copy the following and paste it at the top: {{edit COI}}. This will bring attention to an interested editor to your request.
Our username policy doesn't allow official accounts on here. Please change your username at the appropriate page listed at Wikipedia:Changing username. It can be something like "Rob at VisitGeneseeNY", if you wish to identify yourself with your organization, or any other usernames if otherwise. – robertsky (talk) 15:24, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thank you. I will have someone look in to this. I just hopped in quick to make the fix because our area is gearing up as a destination for the Total Solar Eclipse on April 8th. thank you. VisitGeneseeNY (talk) 15:36, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And on your username? Will you be changing it? – robertsky (talk) 15:38, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Are you the only one with access to this account? Accounts may not be shared. 331dot (talk) 16:45, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will delete my account when we can determine who will take on learning the do's/don'ts and the time to provide factual and updated and additional information on Genesee County (in our area of expertise). VisitGeneseeNY (talk) 16:52, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It is not possible to delete an account, as all edits must be attributable to someone. Your account has been renamed which resolves that issue. You (and/or whomever your organization designates to represent it here) will also need to make the Terms of Use-required paid editing disclosure; please review the information on this page carefully. 331dot (talk) 18:45, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
