Speedy deletion nomination of Krov Menuhin

[edit]

Hello KarenMenuhin,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Krov Menuhin for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Jhona43 (talk) 15:29, 14 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, KarenMenuhin. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Draft:Krov Menuhin, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

Draft:Krov Menuhin and citation templates

[edit]

Hello, i got your email. In future it is just as easy to put a message on my talk page. I will be sent an automatic email telling me that this has happened, and if I am logged onto Wikipedia will see a notification. However this worked, so there is no problem.

You seem to have a misunderstanding about how to use the citation templates such as {tl|cite journal}} {{cite news}}, {{cite web}} and the rest. The first= and last= parameters are for the names of the person who wrote the source being cited. For a newspaper, the person named in the byline, if any. For a book the author. For a web site, if there is a "by" credit, that person. If two or more people are jointly credited (as is often the case with books, sometimes with other publications) use first1= and last1= for the first author, first2= and last2= for the 2nd author, and so on. If there is no namked author 9aas there often isn't for web sites and small newspaper stories) just omit first= and last= completely.

If a newspaper or other publication comes from a specific location, you can use the location= parameter to specify this, don't add it to the title of the publication or the publisher with a dash. However, if it is implied by the name of the work, leave it off. If the location is obvious from the name of the paper, don't use location=. For example, if the paper is The New York Times "location=New York City is redundant. if there is an article about the location you can link it such as <nowiki>location=Brisbane</nowiki> Similarly you can link the name of the work, if appropriate. Such links are never required.

More to come. DES (talk) 21:12, 9 August 2015 (UTC) Hi DES, much, much thanks I will go back over the titles and correct them. Plus I will use this page in future. KarenMenuhin (talk) 10:43, 10 August 2015 (UTC) I have edited the citations and hope to have correcty followed your guidelines. In a number of journals there are no authors given, which is a shame, but I cannot attribute them. Quite a lot of the citations cover more than one area of the article, but I believe I should not duplicate the citations. Do I need to find other sources? Thanks for you time! It is no easy task.KarenMenuhin (talk) 12:11, 10 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It is perfectly acceptable to use the same citation for more than one statemnet, if the source includes multiple relevant facts. The way to do this is using "named footnotes" as described in Help:Footnotes#Footnotes:_using_a_source_more_than_once. The first time (or any one time, actually, but the fist is simpler) a sources is cited, you include the full citation data but give the source a name, like this: <ref name=Jones2010>{{cite book|last=Jones |first=John |title=Big Book of Useful Facts |year=2010 |page=276}}</ref>. Then for any other cites to the same source you simply insert <ref name=Jones2010 />. (Note the closing slash.) The source will be listed in the reflist only once, with two (or more) small letters indicating the various places it is used. This is a preferred technique. See the help page linked above for more detail. Additional sources would not hurt, if available, but that is more to demonstrate notability or to fill in other aspects of the article not covered in the sources already cited, if any. Controversial or extraordinary statements should often be cited to multiple sources, but routine facts which no one is likely to dispute need not be. DES (talk) 21:33, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi DES. I have tried to correct these items mentioned and use as many unique citations as possible. I have resubmitted the article. Do you think I need to do more? I hate to keep asking you for more help, you must busy enough. Much thanks for the huge effort you have given. KarenMenuhin (talk) 21:58, 15 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
