I've started this page with the goal of creating a more reliable reference for the Japanese variant of Mahjong. While I am still fairly new with editing pages here, I think that with a bit of team effort, we can publish an article worthy of Wikipedia. One thing that might end up needing a debate on is what kind of external links are suitable for this page, as the main Mahjong page has actually banned adding external links, linking to dmoz, which is not suitable for our purposes. Pages with rulesets already on them should be referenced how, which organizations or communities are accepted to be linked following some neutral guidelines, et cetera.
Organizations should only be linked if they deal exclusively or significantly with Japanese Mahjong and contain enough information to be of interest to readers of this page. This does not mean that club pages are automatically OK or ignored, the information contained within them should be the criterion used to judge its suitability to be linked. An example could be comparing Mahjong Montreal and Bay Area Mahjong. While both sites have interests in Mahjong, the former is exclusively interested by Japanese Mahjong, and its French pages contain a fair amount of information whereas the latter is interested by any and many styles. Also, the test of time should be a valid criterion to judge as well. A site in its infancy, or that suddenly implodes such as YakitoriOnline.com did should not be added simply to log a site's existence. A site that accomplishes this role for other Japanese Mahjong websites however would be a link suitable for posting.
Mahjong manga and anime probably deserve a sub-section here constituting a five-line blurb. No more is needed, and if a page to enumerate a bunch of Mahjong works is desired, it can be made elsewhere in or out of Wiki at a later date. Kal'krit (talk) 23:31, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
