Redirect tagging

[edit]

I don't know how you prioritize work, but if you could fetch all redirects found in WP:JCW subpages, and tag those, it would be greatly helpful.

Even just fetching the redirects from WP:JCW/Publisher1 to WP:JCW/Publisher30 and WP:JCW/Target1 to WP:JCW/Target30 would be greatly helpful. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 04:53, 4 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I encountered an edge case regarding the "R to section", so that is on pause until I've figure out a fix. However, the "to Category" or the other ones previously discussed, I could work on (I wouldn't know If it was an abbreviation or a ISO name). Can have a look later today - right now I'm fighting off a hangover from last week (Stockholm Pride 2024). Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 04:11, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Stockholm Pride 2024? Drove there in a Dolorean DMC-12?

As for the bot, I mostly care about

  • From other capitalisation: This is a redirect from a title with another method of capitalisation. It leads to the title in accordance with the Wikipedia naming conventions for capitalisation, or it leads to a title that is associated in some way with the conventional capitalisation of this redirect title. This may help writing, searching and international language issues.
    • If this redirect is an incorrect capitalisation, then {{R from miscapitalisation}} should be used instead, and pages that use this link should be updated to link directly to the target. Miscapitalisations can be tagged in any namespace.
    • Use this rcat to tag only mainspace redirects; when other capitalisations are in other namespaces, use {{R from modification}} instead.

(I have a script that highlights those in Yellow, and I can mark them as {{R from miscaps}} when appropriate, which will then populate WP:JCW/TYPO), and {{R to diacritics}}/{{R from diacritics}} (which will populate WP:JCW/DIACRITICS). {{R from ISO 4}} are best tackled manually anyway. Haha, lol. No - as you can see, my cognitive abilities were not up to par above...now we know why you don't drink and edit.
Given there is a lot of links on these pages, I'll need a quick think about a few things, but I'll just go get a coffee, and then start looking at this in just a few :) Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 08:39, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yup. I just chose the 'links on page (bluelinks)' for Wikipedia:WikiProject_Academic_Journals/Journals_cited_by_Wikipedia/Publisher1 (then just delete 1, replace with 2, etc... up till 30). Repeat for https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:JCW/Target1 from 1 to 30. Then filter to keep only mainspace. Skip if does not contain '#REDIRECT'. And that should get rid of the non redirects, leaving you with just the redirects. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 09:16, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm running a pre-parse round to check for issues. But I'll get to these today! :) Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 09:29, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Um, unsure if I did things correctly. I let the bot run on publisher1-30 and target1-30., and filter out any non-redirect, and then filter any redirect which already had a "R-template". Then I let it only do save where it was obvious and exact matches - this only caused 82 edits I believe. Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 22:53, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Seems a bit low, but not insanely so. What it tagged, it correctly tagged. You could also deal with whatever's in Category:Redirect-Class Academic Journal articles as well.
The last thing would be to deal with /A1-105, /B1-59 etc... but those are much, much much of a pain in the ass to get. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 23:34, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I actually already started (a few minutes ago) making a list of such redirects as well, but instead based on all blue links in Category:Academic journals by publisher (recursive). I'll add the articles from that category and filter away all dupes before screening for issues and letting the bot run wild on those :) Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 23:40, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, that works too. Headbomb {t · c · p · b} 23:42, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I getting tired looking at my screen. I think I have been too good at trying to avoid false edits with ligatures, so I've disallowed all edits to pages including a W....this is just dandy to find out... Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 01:54, 8 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

[edit]

I mistakenly logged in through the bot and made 3 edits instead of on my own account. Edits: https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Special:Contributions/Josvebot&target=Josvebot&offset=2023082117600&limit=3 Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 17:38, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

And it happened again with this edit: https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=101_Squadron_(Israel)&diff=prev&oldid=1227633106 Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 22:34, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Have some bot oil

Bot oil for you!
I saw you edit a couple of edits on my watchlist. Good job. I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 14:48, 10 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The bot says "Beep boop", while I say thank you! Jonatan Svensson Glad (talk) 12:48, 11 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
