Speedy deletion of The Giving Tree Band

[edit]

A tag has been placed on The Giving Tree Band requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. LetsdrinkTea 22:12, 10 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Unifiedfolktheory.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. — neuro(talk) 19:22, 16 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Confusing

[edit]

Hi, you put a CSD tag on an article in your userspace and then added a hangon which is contradictory. If you want it deleted as per CSD G7 please leave a message here and I will sort it out for you. Regards Khukri 10:57, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

i would appreciate your help. also, dont i have enough references by now to make the entry notable and therefore no longer valid for speedy deletion. this only the second page i have created, so i dont know the all ropes yet. thanks for the help. joshuafitzgerald

OK looks like (I don't know how) you created it in userspace and again in article space. The article space one was deleted, as a non notable band, that's not saying the band isn't notable, just that you hadn't asserted it's notability or reason why it should have an encyclopedic entry. Also the manner it is presented is more like a myspace page than and encyclopedic entry. Have a look at other bands and see how their articles are done. If you wish I will leave this article User talk:Joshfitzgerald/The Andreas Kapsalis Trio here so you can work on it, try to get it to meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines etc and then maybe look to putting it back in article space later on. Let me know. Khukri 12:16, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

what about all the code i lost?

Trio

[edit]

The article looked like the band might meet notability criteria, I'm not sure... but it was just too damn promotional in tone. Write something neutral. Don't write about how great they are; write about what they do.

Imagine that you hate the band, but that you're being painfully honest and forcing yourself to admit that they have accomplishments. DS (talk) 14:44, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! Looks like you figured out how to move the page back to mainspace from my user space, or got an admin to help, I'm not really sure what the rules are for that sort of thing. I did some work on the neutral point of view issue and took out some of the bits that seemed overly promotional, and I think it was ready to be pushed back to mainspace anyway but I was slow getting around to it. Happy editing! Ivanvector (talk) 04:31, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Unifiedfolktheory.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Unifiedfolktheory.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. GB fan 23:02, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
