Hello,

I'm new here and I have a question. You wrote on my talk page that I added unsourced content on the Farrah Moan page and I would like to understand why? Everything that I added is true. For example, the profile picture (that I linked to her official website). All the infos that I added are also gone.. Like the part about his personal life when he was known for Youtube videos (and I added the source for that too). I was just trying to help giving more infos about someone I know..

Could you tell me why it was removed, please?

There is a lot to understand about Wikipedia. I suggest you read the links on your talk page and ask questions at the WP:TEAHOUSE. This is not social media. You cannot add whatever you want and there is a rather steep learning curve on how to figure it out. You obviously have not read the links on your page or the questions you've asked here would be answered. You are violating other's copyrights two different ways. If you can formulate specific questions about the links you've been given to read, I'll try to answer them. A Short History of Drugs in the Valley

The film is mentioned in many others places than the local paper. That reference is only applicable to Goshen culture section. It would be a violation of Wikipedia editing to add those if they did not apply. Further the film is not being sold on Amazon. It is an Amazon Prime release. In today's day and age that makes any film notable being distributed by a major studio like Amazon. Further, in a town the size of Goshen, a film of this degree is even more notable and known.

So you start a discussion on the article talk page and try to gain a consensus for inclusion. You stop repeatedly violating policies on linking. You PROVE in that discussion what you are contending here. And you realize that the encyclopedia article you are trying to edit isn't for Goshen, it's about Goshen. It's telling that you titled this section with the title of the work you are edit warring over, not the title of the article. Makes it seem like you goal is to increase awareness of this work, not inform people on the city. "Notable" has a specific meaning on Wikipedia and it most likely isn't what you think. I'll add some information to your talk page and when you've digested that, perhaps then you can attempt to try to persuade myself and other editors that the content you want belongs. Arrow High School

Hi, I'm the one who created Arrow High School. Before creating the page, I searched continuation high schools in Wikipedia and found quite a few listed with similar content to the what I created. So, I'm wondering why it seems that different rules apply to this one.Eregus (talk) 16:42, 20 June 2017 (UTC)

High schools are more or less assumed to be notable, but any other school has to meet WP:GNG. Actually, any school article has to meet GNG, but for high schools, it is assumed that the necessary coverage in detail exists unless it is obvious that it doesn't. Long story short, add secondary sources that discuss the school in detail, and it will be notable. Each article stands on its own. There are a whole lot of substandard articles on Wikipedia. Trying to Understand

Hello,

I am trying to understand your changes. State and National competitions vary for all types of events. While it isn't thrilling to watch "Outstanding Chapter" and "Chapter Excellence Program" Competitions for SkillsUSA (Please also note, I did not include any individual award winners, just program-based achievements), it is still a Regional, State and National Competition in which students compete against a series of other schools and are distinguished, making them noteworthy. You claim to "please limit achievement to state or national level victories, not "outstanding chap..." (Chapter Excellence is a State Victory, as well as Superior Rating for International Thespian Society at CAFT) however under noteworthy programs, you have band listed as the following entry "Poston Butte High School offers the following band programs: marching band, concert band, two jazz bands, and multiple guitar classes." Last time I checked, so does the majority of high schools in the east valley (of Arizona), if not the state.

If you need outside press, that's another thing. I understand that twitter isn't a news source, and if it is associated with the organization, it can't always be verified (Even though the tweets were pictures of the actual awards, teaching media arts, I understand a need to verify) I provided sources about the International Thespian Festival students for the theatre program from Pinal Central, an independent News Organization for Pinal County who oversee several different newspapers within the county. It was also deleted.

I don't look at wikipedia as a social media stat page. However, I also decided that when students are invited to go to the Final Four as members of the press, A program coming together to complete several applications and activities to rank Silver in a State Competition, Go to a national competition to represent their school and are the first in their district to get an industry certification in their field, these are things that are deemed noteworthy. Not that we are a school that has arts education (I know, a feat in this day and age, but still not difficult for this area at least.)

Wow, that's a lot to digest. Can you perhaps give me the short version? As best I can tell you appear to be arguing to emotion, what we call here an ILIKEIT arguement. Those seldom have much weight here. I'm busy as a baby IRL right now, but perhaps you're not understanding what an encyclopedia is. The purpose of an encyclopedia is to summarize the significant knowledge already written about a given subject in secondary reliable sources. I'll try to understand what you've written above later tonight hopefully, and perhaps you can explain your query in a lot less words in the meantime. Thanks, Gingy Beard. Please keep in mind that at this point your only interest is adding some content to one article. Most serious editors here watch hundreds if not thousands of articles. Brevity is appreciated. Ok, here is the short version. Central Arizona Theatre Festival (International Thespian Society), Chapter Excellence Program (SkillsUSA), Final Four (NCAA in cooperation with United States Basketball Writer's Association) were all state/national level victories but were stated that they were not worthy of the noteworthy section for the school. These aren't ILIKEIT but accomplishments that belong to the programs at the school. Having a band class is not, but is listed under the school. I am trying to discern why having a band is Noteworthy but state recognition is not. Gingy Beard (talk) 17:43, 23 June 2017 (UTC)

You're right; she should have her own Wikipedia page before being added to the list of notable people from Statesboro, Georgia. She is the first African-American female bishop of any conference in the South Eastern Jurisdiction (SEJ) of the United Methodist Church. Hi, Emilyt804. You appear to be suffering from a common misconception among new editors here. You're conflating notability with importance or accomplishment. The qualification for an article on any subject is notability. Notability is shown by providing multiple reliable sources, totally independent of the subject, that discuss the subject in detail. This person may well be notable, but you have not shown that and your draft article on her has been declined because of that. Good luck. Take advantage of the Teahouse. It's a great resource. Clarification request

I made an edit to Stevens Point, Wisconsin which simply moved notable people from the town from the "See also" section to their own "Notable people" section.

Your edit summary appears, to me, that you agree with me, yet you still reverted my edit? Can I get some more clarification on this, or was it just an error? SkyWarrior 14:11, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

I would suggest deleting the whole thing. Notable people sections that simply list names are pointless. There has been contention on that article before about the notable people section. I believe that would be Chris Solinsky, where the infobox says he was born in Stevens Point but the article says he was born in Junction City. Leah Berard doesn't have a source either. Both have been removed until a source can be found. SkyWarrior 16:27, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

Queen of Peace High School (Illinois)

Hi, I am confused as to why you keep making edits to the page. Queen of Peace is no longer in operation, and I have included verifiable sources at this time. The information you keep reverting back/dismissing the edits to is NOT CORRECT - i.e. the principal, president, history, etc. The principal listed on the Wikipedia page left the school a few years ago, which is easy to see if you go to the sources I cited. I have cited sources and have referenced other school Wikipedia pages that are set up in a very similar structure that have not been flagged for misuse or fabrication. If that was all you had done, no one would have ever reverted it. But you also added a poorly written, badly formatted and unsourced essay-like history section, a totally unsourced section on mostly insignificant athletic achievement and some drivel that I couldn't make heads or tails out of, at least once under an edit summary saying something like "this is how the school wants it." Wikipedia articles do not belong to the subject of the article. All content needs to come from reliable sources totally independent of the school, paraphrased into your own words and properly cited. It should only convey facts. Undoubtedly, there are a lot of really bad articles on schools. Making another one doesn't improve the encyclopedia. An encyclopedia's purpose is to summarize neutrally significant information garnered from already published sources. That is not what you did at all. If you care to stop being disingenuous and actually discuss improving the article, felt free to come back and I'll be happy to help you. If your purpose is to make a gushy memorial page to the late school however, this isn't the place. There are numerous places on the internet where you can get your own website for little to no cost. Wow. I am willing to discuss options for improvement once you abide by Wikipedia's own guidelines of "Be polite" and "Don't bite the newcomers." My initial post was asking for clarification, as I am a newcomer to Wikipedia edits. If it is a matter of rewriting and editing the content, I am willing to do so. But I also won't stand for derision from a random person on the Internet when I am just trying to get help to flesh out a Wikipedia page with some historical context for a school that was open for over 50 years.
