Speedy deletion nomination of File:Anwar Rasheed photo.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Anwar Rasheed photo.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the file is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Bbb23 (talk) 15:32, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (File:Ordinary movie poster.jpg)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Ordinary movie poster.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:14, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Listin Stephen photo.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Listin Stephen photo.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. "–present" in a date range implies ongoing
[edit]I've reverted your edit to Dileep (actor). Per the personal life section of the article, he is still married; showing the date as 1998–present makes it clear that he is still married. Changing the date to 1998–2014 suggests to the reader that the marriage has ended. If that's the case, you need to provide reliable sources for the claim. —C.Fred (talk) 15:16, 8 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. [edit]Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits, such as your recent edits to Nivin Pauly, as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Diffs: [2] Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:55, 27 May 2016 (UTC)

Reference errors on 2 June
[edit]Hello, I'm ReferenceBot. I have automatically detected that an edit performed by you may have introduced errors in referencing. It is as follows:
- On the Jayaram page, your edit caused an unnamed parameter error (help). (Fix | Ask for help)
Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, ReferenceBot (talk) 00:19, 3 June 2016 (UTC)
Hi there, please familiarize yourself with the instructions at Template:Infobox film. This edit at Kammatti Paadam contravenes the guidelines, specifically WP:FILMRELEASE. Additionally, this is the second time I'm mentioning that you are misusing the minor edit checkbox. Please only click this box if you are making superficial changes, like fixing typos, removing inappropriate boldface, adding punctuation, and cosmetic changes that could not be the subject of dispute. The above would not qualify as minor, neither would this edit. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:35, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
Wikilinking
[edit]Hi there, I've reverted portions of your edit here. As a general practice we do not wrap wikilinks around years. One reason, is that it creates a WP:SEAOFBLUE in the lead. See also WP:OVERLINK. You will not find many (if any) featured articles with links from the years. See 300 (film), Greed (film), Gemini (2002 Tamil film), Chandralekha (1948 film), etc. If you think that a link to List of Tamil films of 2016 or Indian cinema belong in the article, the best place for that would probably be in a See also section, which encourages reader to explore tangential topics. We typically link to the primary topics in the lead. We would typically point to India when using a wikilink for "Indian", because that is the subject the reader is most likely to be curious about when reading "Indian". Likewise, if we are referencing a Tamil-language film, the Tamil language would be the primary topic, not Tamil films, which is tangential. A person is far more likely to see "Tamil-language" and be curious about the language than about films released in that language. You're free to discuss here or on the article's talk page if you wish. Thanks. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 03:52, 17 June 2016 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not add or change content, as you did at Charlie (2015 Malayalam film), without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Diff: [3] Cyphoidbomb (talk) 00:46, 24 June 2016 (UTC)
Last warning re: minor edits and unsourced, subjective content
[edit]Hi there, these are not minor edits [4][5] because you are adding and changing content that could be the subject of dispute. Per WP:MINOR:
"A check to the minor edit box signifies that only superficial differences exist between the current and previous versions. Examples include typographical corrections, formatting and presentational changes, and rearrangements of text without modification of its content. A minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. An edit of this kind is marked in its page's revision history with a lower case, bolded "m" character (m)."
Mismarking edits as minor can look to other editors as an attempt to escape scrutiny by hiding disputable content in a package that should only be used for cosmetic changes. Please consider this your last warning about the mis-marking of edits as minor. It would be a really silly thing to be blocked for, and it's completely avoidable, considering you have to go out of your way to click the Minor edit checkbox.
Additionally, please don't change genres without providing a reliable source. Genres are subjective labels, and we're not interested in editors opinions on subjective matters, as this would constitute original research. Per WP:FILMLEAD:
"At minimum, the opening sentence should identify the title of the film, the year of its public release, and the primary genre or sub-genre under which it is verifiably classified."
Part of making it verifiable, is the addition of references. You have been asked several times to stop adding unsourced content. Thanks. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:06, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
Award ribbons in infobox
[edit]What precedent are you considering when you add award ribbons in the infobox as you have done here for the Padma Bhushan? I don't see that this is in wide usage, and I'm of the opinion that it draws undue attention to certain awards over others, thus, I think you need to achieve consensus via discussion in some central place before adding these to the infobox. I see articles about decorated military leaders that don't have these ribbons, so I don't comprehend the value of having them for artsy civilians. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 15:21, 26 June 2016 (UTC)

Request reason:
It is not disruptive editing. I will add a link if given an option to do or if I'm unblocked. I have the right source or link. I did not think the current genre added to the Sethupathi (film) on the original article was completely accurate. I apologize if it was disruptive. Anyway, I will immediately add the source to my edits from now on.
Decline reason:
You were warned several times (here on this page) not to introduce unsourced content, but you ignored all warnings. You also ignored warnings not to label your edits as minor when they are not. I don't trust you that you will now change the behavior. Vanjagenije (talk) 21:30, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- I'm going to let another admin look at this. What is also problematic is that in 1500 edits and numerous notes on your talk page, it took a block for you to finally respond. I don't see any edits from you on any other talk page. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:38, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- I don't do this as a job. I do it in my free time. I don't know any of the formalities associated with it. Anyway in regards to your question, I have not reverted any of the changes you made in places such as Tamil films or Charlie. Have I? Once I saw your messages on it, I did not proceed to edit it further. My intention is only the well being of the article. To make it look better and as informative as possible. I make edits on pages where I feel like there is something off about them. There is so much other vandalism happening elsewhere. But I personally feel like you got some type of grudge against me. User talk:JimmyS900 09:42, 27 June 2016 (UTC)
- You're free to feel however you wish to feel. That's on you. There are well-established guidelines and policies and common behaviors that people who edit here need to participate in. If you do what consensus has asked that you do, you aren't likely to be hassled. If you do what you want to do contrary to community consensus, you're going to run into people like me who have to instruct you on proper editing. If you remain silent as though you aren't part of a community editing project, then you attract negative attention to yourself. Yes, there's vandalism out there, and I could be dealing with that instead of wasting time explaining to you multiple times not to mark your edits as minor, not to add unsourced genres, and not to add subjective content to articles. You really hold all the cards here. And this isn't my job either. We're all volunteers at Wikipedia. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 23:05, 27 June 2016 (UTC)

Wikilinks and primary topics
[edit]Re: this, the primary topics (i.e. the ones that readers would expect to click when clicking on the words Telugu or Tamil,) are the languages, not the cinema industry of those languages/ethnicities. People in Brazil may have never seen the word "Telugu" or "Tamil" and would be naturally curious what those words mean. Wikilinks should be used to clarify these concepts, not to direct users to tangential subjects. Thanks. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:32, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
Arbitrary edits
[edit]Hi there, re: this, please don't make trivial, arbitrary edits like this without providing a logical rationale. This one in particular, where you move Telugu before Malayalam, despite the actor seemingly having more experience in Malayalam films, just looks like subtle ethnic-warring, which is a problem at Wikipedia.[8][9][10][11] This was probably not your intention, but that's why it's important to communicate our logical rationales via edit summaries. Thank you, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:51, 21 June 2018 (UTC)
Keerthy Suresh has acted in more Tamil and Telugu films. That's the fact. I'm not Telugu. So what enthic warring are you talking about? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1:F118:6FA0:E9BF:B747:961B:92F4 (talk) 15:09, 21 June 2018 (UTC)

Daniel Poovannathil moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Daniel Poovannathil, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. ... discospinster talk 19:18, 3 September 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Catholic Church in India, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tamil (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

[edit]Please do not use styles that are unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. per WP:ERA, do not change between era styles without consensus. Request reason:
Apologies on my part for any errors I made as a user. I wish to only contribute more positively to Wikipedia. I will be more careful with my edits from now on. I will be careful to add references on my part. Thanks.
Decline reason:
You were blocked three years ago for pretty much the same thing. What is different this time? Furthermore, I am highly concerned that you are unresponsive to feedback from other editors - the only times you have edited this page is to appeal your blocks. Your next block is likely to be indefinite. MER-C 18:38, 4 November 2019 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
[edit] Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church into Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 16:27, 28 April 2020 (UTC)
