Please do not use Wikipedia to promote businesses. Wikipedia is not the Yellow pages. If you want to list a company for potential customers to find, please consider alternative outlets. Thank you. Nthep (talk) 17:58, 24 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

He is doing this on several pages and there seems to be a clear agenda to post links to a UK-based wine and spirit company. Can an admin please look at this? Horseshoe123 17:13, 30 May 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Hapsburg Absinthe

[edit]

Hello Jerry Borgg,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Hapsburg Absinthe for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. JacobiJonesJr (talk) 07:32, 1 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can I edit the page? You deleted it. I'm an advocate of Absinthe trying to explain different products. Thank you for your insight. Pleas let me edit the old version.

Promotion

[edit]

You said. "Hapsburg Absinthe would like to share its product information and origins as part of the modern Absinthe resurgence. Our new wikipedia page will help Absinthe grow.". Well now, if that's not promotion, I don't know what is. Wikipedia is not a directory, nor is it social media. It is an encyclopaedia. And it does not allow advertising or promotion. Yes, there are articles about Bacardi and other drinks. They are ABOUT them, not BY them. They are not promotional. (If you find one that is, please tag it - or tell me and I'll do it if I agree.) Please read WP:SPAM (obvious), WP:CORP (corporate notability), and WP:RS reliable AND independent sources to prove the notability. (Not one of your references looks to have mentioned the company - certainly a Greek lexicon wouldn't, and nor could Lucretius unless he had a very good crystal ball. Absinthe is notable - that's a given because it has an article. It's the company you need to show notability for.) Also, please read WP:COI about conflict of interest. Being closely connected to your subject (as you obviously are...) is in conflict with the aim of neutrality. Peridon (talk) 21:19, 1 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Jerry Borgg. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Hapsburg absinthe, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. JacobiJonesJr (talk) 09:04, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A warning

[edit]

Using Wikipedia for advertising is not allowed. I've already told you this. I advise you to read some other articles chosen at random (there's a 'random article' link below the globe at top left) to get an idea of what we require in terms of style. Also, read WP:PEACOCK. If you then still can't see why yours was not acceptable, then you are probably working in an advertising agency. If you can't write the article in a neutral way, then please don't write it. By the way, please don't copy large chunks from another article. Wikipedia text is free for anyone to use anywhere, but acknowledgement is required. All that's needed for your article is a link to Absinthe, with a brief summary in your own words of how the changes in legislation lead to the founding of this brand. Written neutrally. Peridon (talk) 09:39, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Hapsburg Absinthe, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. TheLongTone (talk) 10:58, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 12:16, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Strictly speaking you should have left it up to someone else to remove the speedy template, but since it's been cleanup up (&looked at by somebody else) I think it's OK. More refererences to establish notability would not hurt.TheLongTone (talk) 13:32, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your help. Ill find more references now. TheLongTone

Advertising

[edit]

Your relentless attempts to advertise your company in various articles (Absinthe, Tequila, Cocktail, etc.) have been unsuccessful, and will continue to be reverted.Vapeur (talk) 11:11, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry Vapeur , I do not work for Hapsburg. However, I'm trying to allow the Absinthe world to get an inside look into an absinthe that I believe will help lead the revolution. How can I get a link to the Absinthe page, without being coined as an advertisement. Jerry Borgg

I'm confused. If you do not work for Hapsburg, why did one of your early edits state: "We were one of the few pioneering brands to appear when the first resurgence of Absinthe ..." You seem to have adapted what it says on the Hapsburg website where that reads: "Hapsburg Absinthe was one of the few pioneering brands to appear when the first resurgence of Absinthe ..." so you didn't just cut and paste it. Horseshoe123 15:26, 3 June 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Horseshoe123 (talkcontribs)

I mistakenly wrote we. I found most of their information on their site and through articles. This is my first time creating an article page on wikipedia, please ignore my ignorance. I am researching additional information for the product, I hope to have more info soon. However, I would like to link to the Absinthe wiki page so readers can become more educated on the modern revival of absinthe.

Enclosing a word in a pair of square brackets creates a wikiling: typing [[absinthe]] will show as absinthe.TheLongTone (talk) 17:41, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon This is your only warning; if you use Wikipedia for soapboxing, promotion or advertising again, as you did at Ifollow club, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. You've already had the article IFollow club deleted and salted. You know what's acceptable.Stop advertising. Bazj (talk) 10:01, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please help me educate people. I dont want to post any links Its just that this type of investing has a bad wrap and I want to help educate people on what it is.

You said here that you'll "improve the article and send it to me first". What happened with that idea? Why did you create the article again without consulting me? Vanjagenije (talk) 10:48, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry I forgot can Ill send it t you now, This is all of the info I gathered please help me clean it up.

So let me explain what’s going on: — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jerry Borgg (talkcontribs)

[Removed spam - Mike Rosoft (talk) 11:09, 26 July 2015 (UTC)][reply]
First of all, please, sign your posts at talk pages (see here: WP:SIGN). Second, you have to understand that Wikipedia has an inclusion criteria called WP:NOTABILITY. Wikipedia only accepts articles about topics that are notable enough. "Notability" in the Wikipedia sense means that the article topic is covered in multiple reliable independent sources that significantly discuss it (see: WP:42). That means that there are independently written books, newspaper articles, web news portals articles, etc. about the subject. Now, do you have any reliable sources that significantly discuss the subject of the article? Vanjagenije (talk) 11:06, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This subject is covered all over the web. You have pages on binary options trading, banc de binary, and other binary options related fields. It's copycat trading and social trading on a binary options platform. iFollow Club is a type of binary options trading. Please tell me how I make a page about it. Thanks [1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jerry Borgg (talkcontribs)

First of all (again), you have to sign your posts (see here: WP:SIGN). Second, as I already stated, you have to find reliable, independent sources that significantly cover the subject. In this case, the subject of the article is iFollow Club, so you have to provide reliable independent sources that significantly discuss iFollow Club. Google search does not prove anything. A subject may have millions of results on Google search, while none of them may be reliable. You have to read this carefully: WP:Reliable sources. After reading that page, try to find and provide reliable sources that significantly discuss iFollow Club. Vanjagenije (talk) 11:36, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your patience ill work on the sources today. How do you define a reliable source versus a Google search entry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jerry Borgg (talkcontribs)

Well, you have everything explained at WP:Reliable sources. Sources need to reputable (like books, newspapers, magazines, trusted web portals, not blogs, self-published material and similar), and need to be independent of the subject (i.e. not written by or sponsored by iFollow Club), and have to significantly discuss the subject in depth (not to just mention it). If you want to write the article again, I strongly recommend that you create it in the Draft namespace (like this: Draft:iFollow Club). That way, the article wouldn't be deleted and you can wait for comments by more experienced editors before moving it to the main namespace. I also strongly recommend that you start signing your posts. Vanjagenije (talk) 13:25, 26 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
