Categories

[edit]

Hello. Regarding this recent edit of yours [1], I noticed you attempted to add items directly to a category page.

In Wikipedia, we do not add articles to a category by editing the category page, we add them by editing the individual articles' pages and linking the category from there. For newer editors, it's understandably a counter-intuitive system. Category pages are not intended to be exhaustive lists; in fact, they are not lists at all. Categories are navigation aids. They are merely groupings of related, existing English Wikipedia pages.

To categorize a page, you must go to the page you wish to categorize and add the category at the bottom of the page with the other categories, first making sure the page actually belongs to the category.

Please read Wikipedia:Categorization and Help:Category for more information and clarification.

Let me know if you need any assistance or have any questions. Thank you and have a great day! --DB1729 (talk) 16:58, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on American Rapper requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Thank you for uploading File:Drop in 2022.png. However, it is currently missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Vladlen Manilov / 17:00, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with upload of File:Drop in 2022.jpeg

Thanks for uploading File:Drop in 2022.jpeg. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or what the copyright status is. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

Notability of Drop (American rapper), plus conflict of interest notice

[edit]

Drop (American rapper), as it currently stands, does not meet Wikipedia's notability standards. The previous person who moved it to draftspace does not seem to have notified you as to why (bad practice on their part), but this article is likely to be deleted if it stays in mainspace in its current state. Mainly, you have not provided any sources that contribute to why Drop meets the general notability guideline or notability guideline for musicians; you'll want to look for three reliable, independent, secondary sources that cover Drop in a decent bit of detail on him to satisfy those notability guidelines (even the one current source in the article is not independent, as it's promotional in nature). I would encourage you to move it back to draftspace to develop it, though I'm not sure there exist the sources for Drop to meet those notability standards – you're more likely to get somewhere that way.

It also appears you may have a conflict of interest here – the photo you claim to have took appears in the calipost citation, and given that citation looks very promotional in nature, you probably have some stake in this article. You will probably want to take a look at this plain and simple conflict of interest guide as such – as for the rules on creating this article, you're not disallowed from doing so, but all your edits will have to be reviewed, mainly for reasons relating to the neutral point of view policy (before being published to mainspace, it has to go through Articles for Creation in the draftspace, and after that point you'll have to request edits on the talk page upon which they'll be reviewed by an editor without a conflict of interest).

Feel free to either reply here (preferably prefixing your message with {{ping|Skarmory}} so I get notified), or send me a message on my talk page if you have further questions. Skarmory (talk • contribs) 02:13, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The page File:Drop in 2022.png has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appeared to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://calipost.com/who-is-drop/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition has been deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion Review. — JJMC89(T·C) 03:13, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
