Deadlock

I removed a nonsense part in the article on deadlocks, which I explained it in the discussion page. However, you restored that part, which is definitely nonsense. What I saw was deletion of a paragraph by an IP, without an edit summary. This is an extremely common form of vandalism, particularly as an IP's first edit, which it was. Immediate reversion of such is always in order. I see now that you did explain it on the talk page first, by what, four minutes? It's reasonable to allow some time for replies before going ahead and deleting existing content, particularly when you're a new editor. At the very least you should have written "see talk page" in the edit summary. A reference in the talk page entry to a reliable source would be good too. And will you please learn to sign your talk page comments? It's not that hard. Jeh (talk) 15:53, 28 May 2014 (UTC)

Yes, because I wanted to reply to what you wrote on your user page, but you said at the top of your user page that no one else should edit it. There was no other way to reply to what you'd written.

Your user page isn't really "protected", by the way—I have no idea what you mean by that.

Anyway, all content posted to Wikipedia may be freely copied to anywhere else on WP, assuming of course it is suitable content for wherever it's going. So I did nothing wrong, no matter how many exclamation points you use. You are quite fluent with many technical aspects of Wikipedia, such as creating redirects; I strongly suggest you spend some time gaining equal familiarity with Wikipedia's policies, guidelines, and culture. 3 GB barrier - Windows x86 limit

Hi Jeh! I think you may have misunderstood my edit to 3 GB barrier. It did not attempt to provide an alternative explanation as to why the limit was imposed - merely explain how it was implemented (through existing technical means for licensing restrictions). The goal is to communicate this fact to readers, as well as the fact that this restriction can be patched out. Neither of these facts are present in the article and both are likely to be of interest to those reading that particular section. If you have a better idea as to how to communicate this information, or what references to use, I'd be glad to hear it. There are many fact within this article which are entirely unsupported and have been for a long time, so the use of technical blogs did not seem unreasonable. Microsoft would prefer that end-users not mess with its software, so it's unlikely that they will communicate a means to do so. GreenReaper (talk) 03:21, 13 June 2014 (UTC)

Hmm. Editing focus blindness? I only noticed the second of your two talk page boxes (it was more central to my vision), and have no memory of seeing the editnotice, despite (or perhaps because of) its day-glow colour. Also, I was discussing your edit; I believed there was a personal misunderstanding, and wanted to avoid another revert from you. I did consider using the article's talk page, but I felt it would needlessly bother other editors. I'll use it for the kernel patch concern, which I tacked on later. Hyphenation

Please read and understand WP:HYPHEN before undoing edits that other people make to hyphenation to get articles to conform to Wikipedia's guidelines. WP:HYPHEN says "A hyphen is not used after a standard -ly adverb (a newly available home, a wholly owned subsidiary)". One such standard -ly adverb is "rapidly". Sorry, I just haven't had time to wade through the walls of references, analyses of references, etc., etc. I think you need to do an RFC for content. There are already three people involved (you, me, and Tom) so we can't use the easier "third party" route. Jeh (talk) 19:40, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
