Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. PatGallacher (talk) 10:18, 30 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Pieter Carel Meijwes requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Wikipedia Manual of Style

[edit]

I have been cleaning up some articles that you have worked on to bring them in line with the Wikipedia:Manual of Style, which applies to all Wikipedia articles. I usually identify in the edit summary what parts of the manual I am applying. As you are a new user, I understand that you may not be familiar with the Manual. I suggest that you take some time to review it so that your edits comply with the Manual. I strongly suggest that you do not revert my clean-up of your articles. Here are some useful points for you:

  • Plain English words should not generally be linked. It is not appropriate to link the same term repeatedly. See WP:OVERLINK.
  • Links are not put in the boldface part of the opening paragraph, e.g., the family name. Try to link the term elsewhere in the article instead. See WP:BOLDTITLE.
  • Religions and adjectives indicating religious affilaition, e.g., Catholic or Protestant, are capitalised in English.
  • Honorifics, e.g., Jonkheer, are not included in the boldface part of the introductory sentence. See WP:LEDE.
  • Check your links: The Court takes the reader to the article on the Supreme Court of the United States. Is this what you really mean?

I hope these points help. Regards, Ground Zero | t 19:15, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also, you do not seem to be taking the advice that PatGallacher provided above about providing sources and Wikipedia:Verifiability. This is really very important. Please start providing sources for your contributions, or you may find other users deleting your contributions, especially where they are about living persons. House of Sutherland-Leveson-Gower

[edit]

Is it your intent to include every British aristocrat or royal to this category as many of your additions to it have little or no connection to the Leveson-Gower family Penrithguy (talk) 19:34, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know if there is a policy on this, but in a category such as this, I think you should only add people who held the surname, daughters of people who held the surname of wives of people with this surname. Don't include people whose daughters married a member of the family or female-line descendants, et cetera. With the close intermarriages within the British peerage, we would then end up with virtually everyone being categorised as a member of the Leveson-Gower family. I removed over 40 instances where you had, in my opinion, wrongly categorised people as being members of this family. Tryde (talk) 13:41, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Linking

[edit]

Hi, per Wikipedia:Linking#General_points_on_linking_style please don't add links into the bolded repetition of an article's title in the latter's intro. Please also avoid to link bold words generally. Thanks ~~ Phoe talk ~~ 20:04, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your editing

[edit]

Instead of wasting your time adding links that are unnecessary and that are not in accordance with WP:OVERLINK, you should focus on adding sources and references to your articles. There is a risk that people will start removing unsourced information per WP:BLP.

Also, do not link dates. This style is no longer supported by the Wikipedia Manual of Style. See WP:DATE.

I have reverted most of your work from today, and will continue to do so if you continue to ignore the advice that I and other editors are giving you here. Ground Zero | t 17:24, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on Pieter Carel Meijwes requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.

Please refrain from introducing inappropriate pages to Wikipedia. Doing so is not in accordance with our policies. For more information about creating articles, you may want to read Wikipedia:Your first article; you might also consider using the Article Wizard. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. HalfShadow (talk) 17:53, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Van Meeuwen en Meijwes van Meeuwen familiewapen.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation.  Skier Dude  ►  23:00, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Don't do it, please. See MOS:UNLINKDATES. Thank you. I will revert your edits where you add these unnecessary links. Ground Zero | t 02:42, 9 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Carel Berend Meijwes. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Carel Berend Meijwes. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:05, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Jansma, please stop adding information that just isn't true. If you look at the Nederland's Adelsboek 1999 you will notice:

1. That there is no noble family called Meijwes van Meeuwen

2. That the family originated from Megen, not from 's-Hertogenbosch or The Hague

3. That only Petrus Andreas van Meeuwen was created a "jonkheer"

You have tried this before in the Dutch Wikipedia, and there your article on this subject has been transformed to a disambiguation page.

What's more, I see that you write articles on people that contain false information, not to say hoaxes. These articles were deleted in the Dutch Wikipedia as well. You don't seem to have learned anything from the advices you have been given there. Mvdleeuw (talk) 18:51, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The branch Meijwes beloning to the family van Meeuwen and the family originated from 's-Hertogenbosch. see [2]. i do not know why you delted the name Meijwes, you can check it. --Jansma (talk) 19:11, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I have checked this right away and in the source you refer to (an article about two brothers Van Meeuwen) the name Meijwes doesn't appear at all. The Van Meeuwen family may have lived in 's-Hertogenbosch, but they didn't originate there. Mvdleeuw (talk) 19:23, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

99 per cent of the material in this article is copied from the Duke of Sutherland article. Do we really need two articles with exactly the same information? I suggest we redirect this article to Duke of Sutherland. Tryde (talk) 15:19, 14 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding people who are not members of this House to the category. Only male-line descendants or women who marry male-line descendants should be included. DrKiernan (talk) 15:38, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

House of Sutherland-Leveson-Gower

[edit]

Could you please stop adding your nonsense to articles related to the Leveson-Gower family. If you continue I will bring this up at WP:ANI. Tryde (talk) 16:44, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Category:House of Sutherland-Leveson-Gower (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) for renaming to Category:Sutherland-Leveson-Gower family (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at the discussion page. Thank you. ~~ Phoe talk ~~ 17:29, 24 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the interwiki you added here. It concerns another castle. You have done this in the Dutch Wikipedia as well, in spite of severe warnings not to add false information. Mvdleeuw (talk) 13:54, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Warning

[edit]

Jansma, you have just been blocked for 1 month on the Dutch wikipedia because of adding false information. Please don't try this here, you have a risk of being blocked here as well. Mvdleeuw (talk) 19:02, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Despite this warning, you keep making the same edits to Bijleveld without providing the sources that other editors are asking for. Do you want to be blocked from editing English Wikipedia too? Your behaviour suggests that you do. Ground Zero | t 16:02, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Final warning

[edit]

The next time you make an edit like this one, I will block you from editing. Other editors and I have patiently explained what you are doing wrong, but ou keep oding it. Please stop wasting our time and yours. Ground Zero | t 17:12, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop

b) When you are editing I always have to follow with a big broom to clean up the dung you left behind.

What are the family articles about?

[edit]

You are beginning many of you articles with the sentence: "Xxxxxxxx is the name of a Dutch family...." Is the article about the name? Or is it about the family? A clearer explanation of what the article about is: "Xxxxxxxx is a Dutch family...."

Also, please do not link years. See WP:MOSUNLINKDATES. Thanks. Ground Zero | t 17:24, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Linking

[edit]

WP:OVERLINK specifically says:

"Unless they are particularly relevant to the topic of the article, it is generally inappropriate to link:
  • plain English words;
  • terms whose meaning would be understood by almost all readers;
  • items that would be familiar to most readers, such as the names of major geographic features and locations, religions, languages, common professions and common units of measurement (particularly if a conversion is provided);
  • dates."

Ground Zero | t 13:07, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I will continue to revert your edits when you link to plain English words like "family" and "history" or when you links dates. I will also revert your edits when you change the lead from being about the subject of the article ("Xxxxx is a Dutch family....") to being about the name of the subject ("Xxxxx is the surname of a Dutch family....") These edits do not benefit Wikipedia. Please save your self and me time by not doing them. Thanks. Ground Zero | t 20:27, 6 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Bijleveld (Rhoon), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

not notable, no inline references, deleted at the very inclusive nl.wiki, where it was even identified as a hoax (see edit history)

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
