Welcome
[edit]Hello Mvdleeuw and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm glad you've chosen to join us. This is a great project with lots of dedicated people, which might seem intimidating at times, but don't let anything discourage you. Be bold!, explore, and contribute. Try to be civil by following simple guidelines and signing your talk comments with ~~~~ but never forget that one of our central tenets is to ignore all rules.
If you want to learn more, Wikipedia:Tutorial is the place to go, but eventually the following links might also come in handy:

Float around until you find something that tickles your fancy. One easy way to do this is to hit the random page button in the navigation bar to the left. Additionally, the Community Portal offers a more structured way to become acquainted with the many great committees and groups that focus on specific tasks. My personal favorite stomping grounds are Wikipedia:Translation into English as well as the cleanup, welcoming, and counter-vandalism committees. Finally, the Wikimedia Foundation has several other wiki projects that you might enjoy. If you have any more questions, always feel free to ask me anything on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- Draeco 05:27, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Earlier today, I made a change to the ALT text on the William III of England article and was also reverted. Afterwards, I did a quick search and found this at WP:ALT:
- Alt text is meant for readers who cannot see an image.
- It summarizes the image's appearance, not its meaning, and typically has little in common with the image's caption.
- Every image should have alt text, unless the image is purely decorative and does nothing when you click on it.
I never would have thought this was the case since on most websites the alt text so often just repeats the caption. Nonetheless, the above is the policy at Wikipedia. I guess we both learned something today. Happy editing! — SpikeToronto 08:11, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
- Indeed we did. Thank you! Mvdleeuw (talk) 12:45, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Dutch windmills
[edit]I've notice that you've been making a few improvements to various articles about Dutch windmills. I'm guessing from your username that you are Dutch. We have a WikiProject covering mills worldwide at WP:MILLS which you are welcome to join. If you feel up to tackling the backlog of uncreated windmill articles please feel free to do so. - You guess was correct ;-). I think I'll join the project, but for the time being I shall limit myself to making minor corrections. Mvdleeuw (talk)

Speedy deletion nomination of Bijleveld (Rhoon)
[edit]A tag has been placed on Bijleveld (Rhoon), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. gidonb (talk) 18:35, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for August 19
[edit]Hi. When you recently edited Doesburgermolen, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ede (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
