Please do NOT use cut and paste to move an article - it destroys the history of the article. Use the "Move" tab at the top of the screen to move articles. I've fixed the one you just did. Just letting you know. Thanks! :) --Golbez 22:42, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please Use Edit Summaries

[edit]

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

SD Gundam edits

[edit]

Just looked over your edits to some of the SD Gundam pages...are you sure about these? For one thing, you seem to have added characters from Musha Retsuden Zero to the Musha Retsuden page. I'm also not sure about the whole Lacroa thing. I can't read Japanese but I own all 3 copies of Musha Retsuden and it's pretty firmly centered about Ark. The closest it comes to Lacroa is (assuming it's using SDGF's shared world idea) a battle which occurs in orbit.--HellCat86 18:15, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

Thank you for your stub submission. You may wish to note that it is preferable to use a stub template from Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Stub types instead of using simply {{stub}}, if you can.

The ref you added was removed because the refs already there fully support the text and, therefore, additional links are indeed gratuitous. Further, the top "stories" at celebrities.netscape.com come from, as I write this, such sites as usmagazine.com, falseicon.com, bollywood-stars.net and intogossip.blogspot.com, none of which qualifies as a reliable source. Regarding edits made to Sangokushi Internet

[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, Jacob Poon! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the link you added, matching rule \bangelfire\.com\/, is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia's external links policy for more information. If the link was to an image, please read Wikipedia's image tutorial on how to use a more appropriate method to insert the image into an article. If your link was intended to promote a site you own, are affiliated with, or will make money from inclusion in Wikipedia, please note that inserting spam into Wikipedia is against policy. [edit]

Excuse me do you have any evidence that Dynasty Warriors PSP is the PSP version of Dynasty Warriors 2? From what I can tell, it seems to be more of a port for Dynasty Warriors 4. Da Big Bozz 03:14, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Gregory Kohs

[edit]

An editor has nominated Gregory Kohs, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gregory Kohs (second nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Edits to Akzidenz Grotesk article

[edit]

Hi Jacob Poon. The name of the typeface is Akzidenz Grotesk. It is a registred trademark and there is no variation of the name. I wonder if you intend to include a variant of pronunciation? "Accidenz" is a transliteration of a mispronunciation. It is not proper German, and though I have heard it pronounced similarly it is not correct. I have twice seen it used in print, used to convey its pronunciation during delivery of a lecture and was followed by the notation "[sic]" to acknowledge the faulty spelling. Wiki Manual of Style (MOS) suggests you could provide the proper pronunciation using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), and perhaps then followed with a notation of it "as sometimes also pronounced as ..." It is important that if you do this that use use wiki's standard of International Phonetic Alphabet for the pronunciation guide, elsewise we face a huge banner that we have incorrect non-standard, non-IPA pronunciation at the top of the article. Thanks.CApitol3 (talk)

Hi Jacob Poon. Thee must be some confusion. Please take a look at the edit history. I did not blank the page or delete the whole article. I undid your last edit. No need for all upper case shouting when no irreversible harm is done (wiki saves every version). A basic tenet of wikipedia is to assume good faith. Thanks.

P.S. I realize now that you had additional edits. I did not know that. In the future you may "sign" your comments by typing three tildes (~). CApitol3 (talk)

Additions to Myriad (typeface)

[edit]

Do you have any source or can you even point to a link for your mention of "Casey" - a quick Google search or three doesn't seem to find anything. Who or what is "KCRC"? In general, a "remix" typeface by a third party that simply takes parts of two existing typefaces, one for letters and another for numbers, is simply not particularly notable. Unauthorized and/or illegal knockoffs are really commonplace, but generally not worth mentioning (unless it's the lack of authorization/legality that is the notable thing, usually related to the person or company doing it being high profile). License tagging for Image:Foxgirl.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Foxgirl.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 23:09, 11 June 2008 (UTC) [reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?

I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.

Additions to Typeface article

[edit]

I noticed that you added a couple of paragraphs to the "Typeface" article. The first paragraph was on superfamilies, and the second on "expert set" fonts. I think the general intent of what you did was great, but both paragraphs had some highly dubious content, and I basically did completely fresh versions of both. (One problem was that you didn't fully define either term.) Thomas Phinney (talk) 19:37, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RayStorm article

[edit]

Hello, Jacob Poon.

I noticed you made some edits to the RayStorm article, adding port and release information, etc. I made a bunch of edits since then, mainly to add development info and review scores, as well as to cite some sources and change its plot section from looking like was just "lifted from the manual". I wanted to seek outside review(s) and assessment(s) of the article to see how it could be further expanded and improved, but I first wanted to check with at least some people (like you) who have actually edited the article.

Here is a comparison of the article as you last edited it, and the article as I left it. Have I made it worse? Do you want to add something? Is there anything else you think should be added or removed (plot details, gameplay, sales figures, blahblahblah)? If you have the Japanese versions or other materials, are there more differences between the US and Japanese releases that are worth noting?

Hope to hear (or, more likely, read) from you soon.

License for Image:Foxgirl.jpg

[edit]
Your Image:Foxgirl.jpg
Your Image:Foxgirl.jpg
Move to commons representation
Move to commons representation

The image Foxgirl.jpg is a candidate to be copied to the Wikimedia Commons. When you uploaded this image, you licensed it for use under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). On behalf of the Wikipedia and Commons communities, thank you. However, the GFDL requires that reproductions of the image (and any other GFDL-licenced works), must be accompanied by the full text of the GFDL. The GFDL is intended more for documentation and not images, so downstream re-users may be hindered by additional restrictions of the GFDL which may not work well on the use of one image.

Before I copy this image to the Commons, I wanted to ask whether you would be willing to multilicense your work under an additional license, such as a Creative Commons licence. Creative Commons licences, such as the Attribution Share-Alike license provide a similar copyleft permission to the GFDL, but without some of its requirements such as the distribution of the licence text. All you need to do, is place the additional license tag alongside your current license. Users can choose between which one they want to use the image under. There are many free licenses accepted on Wikipedia and Commons which can provide freedoms similar to the GFDL, but without some of its requirements.

You are under no obligation whatsoever to alter the license. Doing so merely cooperates with those members of the community who believe that multilicensing your work can ease the reuse of images outside of Wikipedia.

If you use a GFDL license tag which requires distribution of Wikipedia's general disclaimer (indicated by "Subject to disclamiers" in the template), it is also suggested that you switch it to one which does not apply them.

Whether or not you choose to dual-license your work, thank you for your consideration.

Please also see Wikipedia:Copyrights and Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons for more information.
This message was placed using Template:Dual-licence.

Vox type

[edit]

I noticed your recent edit to the Vox classification article. First, I want to thank you for expanding the article and taking the time to work on the topic. With that said, I noticed that much of the text was simply verbatim copy and pasted from the cited article. Re: DonPachi

[edit]

Is it really "GPS"? I've always just seen "GP" in the game.

I'm going to go and edit some for clarity, but most of the stuff you added is great for the article (13 bees! I could have sworn it was 13, but I wasn't exactly sure). Did I ever delete some of it? I apologize if I had done so. Hmm... I thought I had added something about the bombs.

Speaking of which, do the bombs really work so different from DoDonPachi? (dying increases bomb count by one) I'm certain there's something different, but I didn't think it was that different. Elm-39 - T/C 18:54, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of File:Foxgirl.jpg

[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:Foxgirl.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:File:Foxgirl.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. ~ JohnnyMrNinja 11:56, 10 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can you please provide proof that the image was licensed under a free license? Stifle (talk) 10:11, 11 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Myriad (typeface)

[edit]

First, you separated out a bunch of info on members of the Myriad family, which I had previously put together as a single paragraph (with no less information). Why do you think these need separate sections?

Second, you are claiming that Kozuka Gothic and Adobe Heiti are Japanese and Chinese versions of Myriad. That's just wrong. They use glyphs from Myriad for their Latin letters (quite modified in the case of Kozuka Gothic), but that does not make them Japanese and Chinese versions of Myriad. The very concept doesn't make much sense. In my 11 years in the Adobe type group, nobody ever suggested such a thing, and when people wanted a Japanese/Chinese version of Myriad, we told them there was no such thing.

Thomas Phinney (talk) 02:15, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

While it is good that someone added the Nismo and roadster versions with a reference, the spelling and grammar need serious fixing. Please edit these sections using more complete sentences, and try not to make the sections just lists of features. Thanks. --Vossanova o< 01:42, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Space Invaders '95

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Space Invaders '95, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Un-notable remake

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Witt E Pseudonym (talk) 23:50, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The game was never a remake of the 1978 Space Invaders when I first checked the source, so that was not even a legitimate request to delete the article for 'Un-notable remake'. As for notability, does anyone even read the external links? - Jacob Poon (talk) 01:45, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

English lessons

[edit]
  • "Was" is past tense. You use "will be" for future events, and "is" for current events.
  • Never begin a paragraph with "It". The first sentence in a paragraph should have the full name of a subject. "It" can then be used later in the same paragraph to refer to the same subject.
  • "The" is used before a singular event or subject, and "a" is used before a subject of which many exist, unless it starts with a vowel sound, in which case use "an".

Please learn more English grammar and sentence structure from other written articles before continuing to edit here. Thank you. --Vossanova o< 20:45, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

re: Ford Boss engine

[edit]

And likewise, there is no source stating that the Coyote has anything to do with the Boss. I checked several articles and found nothing to suggest that they're the same engine (which is highly unlikely considering the size difference). Final warning

[edit]

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to deliberately introduce poor grammar into articles and unnecessarily create tiny two-sentence sections for every little item, you will be reported for vandalism. --Sable232 (talk) 01:44, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proper grammar is not an "editorial preference."
Furthermore, your penchant for having a section heading every other sentence is not, generally, the norm across most automotive articles, therefore YOU are the one who needs to try and convince others to change everything.
I can't speak for any WP administrator, but if I had to guess I'd say that most of them would consider poor grammar to be disruptive editing. --Sable232 (talk) 02:08, 17 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Stop beginning paragraphs with "It"

[edit]

PLEASE, Jacob, PLEASE STOP beginning paragraphs with the word "It"! I can now tell which sections of an article were edited by you, because they start with the word "it". This is improper English grammar. A subject must be mentioned by name *within the paragraph* (not just the section title) before "it" can be used to refer to it.
