Mexican soap
Hi. The editor has just contributed a third episode in Spanish: Margarita, ponzoñosa. I even left him a {{Contrib-es1}}, but to no effect. Can you admonish him in Spanish, or what do we do? Favonian (talk) 22:42, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
- Deleted this one too. We can only hope he starts communicating with us, he seems to speak English from his other edits. Also, I don't speak Spanish :) --Jac16888Talk 22:52, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
Crossed wires
I havben't been around much on WP lately, as my In Real Life has become bigger.
The last few with you amd I are all in the wrong places but they are essentially edit conflicts. I have not had an edit conflict and I doubt you have, but with others editing they just have got in the wrong places. I think you and I both know I will not repy about Filipino talking about Arabic.
It is mz fault because I did tidy out a lot of French in the back part (in fact I and a PNT reg tidied up the templates after he started putting it there, to say no you don't HAVE to put it there, you can be an editor. I mostly do French and Hungarian but do a few other languages well from here at PNT I have done some Latin, oh what they push into you at school eh. Penis, penides, etc. Oh no hang on that is greek.)
Best wishes Si Trew (talk) 00:12, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
- I noticed the mix-up, must be the software messing us about, I got no edit conflicts either. Glad to have you back, PNT always needs editors. German is the only language I really know, everything else I do is mostly done with machine translators and bits and pieces of languages i've picked up over the years--Jac16888Talk 01:27, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
The AfD was from last year not 4 years ago. The article still fails WP:NFF. -TriiipleThreat (talk) 20:01, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
On second thought a redirect to might also be a suitable solution. -TriiipleThreat (talk) 20:05, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
- (ec)Perhaps if you had linked to that discussion in the csd tag I would have known that. Regardless, the article is different enough from the previous article that I do not believe deletion under G4 is appropriate. You should start a new afd if you still want it deleted--Jac16888Talk 20:06, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

IEC 61439
Hi I see that you deleted my IEC 61439 page under advertising. Can you let me know where the problem was and I will correct it, as I believe that the main body of the text was informative and acurate. I will accept that my user details were specific to my company, and would be happy to remove that data, if that was indeed the problem
Anyway if you can let me know it would be appreciated
Thanks Craig --3PhaseDesign (talk) 22:10, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- The issue with your article is that it was like press release, this is an encyclopedia not a journal. Also it was not at all clear what the article is about about, it was written from a very technical viewpoint. And yes, the fact that you're connected to the subject is someewhat inappropriate due to our rules on conflicts of interest. I would recommend you start from scratch using your sandbox (User:3PhaseDesign/Sandbox]], and use the various help guides to try again, Wikipedia:Your first article should point you in the right direction--Jac16888Talk 23:02, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
122.148.57.163/P.J. Snow moved to P.J. Snow
Dear Editor, Thank you so much for moving this page to the proper place for me. I was still trying to figure out how to request assistance with this move as I was unsure on which page I should actually put the request - the original 'user talk' page or my 'first move'. I did try to redirect it again to just 'P.J.Snow' but the 'bot' picked me up as a 'vandal'. Once again many thanks. 2BPKP (talk) 03:03, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Another block would be welcome
Could you consider placing another block on the anon IP that you blocked a month ago?[1] They are continuing the same kind of unexplained, uncited original research speculation that you reverted here [2]. I took some care to explain the issue to them, but there's no response on their talk page, and they simply replace their material. In particular, they just introduced a factual error by claiming a 2007 film references a 2010 film that has yet to be released! This user doesn't appear to even be trying to play by the rules. Regards, Piano non troppo (talk) 21:56, 8 February 2010 (UTC)
- Blocked them again, for a month this time. All they're doing is replacing the same bullshit speculation and misinformation. Thanks for the note--Jac16888Talk 22:02, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

Hi there Jac16888; I just noticed that you deleted House nigger, most probably in response to my request for protection. While this is an odious term, I actually wasn't looking to have it deleted and create-protected, but only semiprotected indefinitely. However offensive it is, there are reasonable targets for this phrase - either House slave, which corresponds to the historical meaning, or List of ethnic slurs#H, which discusses the modern cultural insult derived from the earlier usage. In any case, it definitely should not be left unprotected (in ANY form) for anonymous vandals to redirect it to Barack Obama or any other biographical article - but I think that the page should exist as a blue link. I don't particularly want to go to DRV over this - getting anyone to actually read the arguments before they have an understandably visceral reaction is extremely difficult - but I would ask you to allow me to recreate it (I will take responsibility for recreating it) and then semiprotect it permanently, which surely does need to be done. — Gavia immer (talk) 04:26, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- I can't remember where I was it, on my watchlist somewhere. Honestly, If you wish to recreate it that's your choice, but my personal opinion is that we can do without it. It doesn't really add much to the encyclopedia as a redirect, in fact I imagine the people likely to search it are those we would rather stay away, and really all it can do is cause trouble--Jac16888Talk 04:29, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- You managed to delete it at almost the same time I listed it for protection, which is why I assumed it was in response to that; if it wasn't, that's not too important. I can understand people having different standards for what they think is beyond the pale of WP:CENSORED's "encyclopedic value" - I am very much in favor of allowing reasonable search terms to be bluelinked, but I genuinely can't stand that Goatse.cx has the image immediately visible, and I can't really uderstand the editors defending inclusion of the image there on "encyclopedic value" grounds. We haven't got any List of working computer virus code examples, either. I do think that this is a reasonable redirect, but I'm not confident that I convince others of this - so I'm not going to do anything more than just disagree with you about it. Thanks for reading. — Gavia immer (talk) 04:41, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- You could always open up a WP:RFD, it may well be that consensus is against my deletion, or rather is for the redirect--Jac16888Talk 05:00, 9 February 2010 (UTC)
- The most recent RfD closed as "delete" based on vandalism, but I managed to convince the deleting admin to allow recreation. I don't think that another discussion would be fruitful. — Gavia immer (talk) 05:21, 9 February 2010 (UTC)

If Giano carries out his threat to change the threads on Wikipedia:Incivility blocks, will you do something about it? You have, after all, archived the discussion. - Tbsdy (formerly Ta bu shi da yu) talk 09:41, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- I've undone your archiving - it's not resolved yet. I'm sorry, but I want some assurances that further discussion won't be derailed. You may not care about what's going on at the talk page, but I've spent a fair amount of good faith time and effort on trying to get some productive discussion - I cannot help it if other editors talked about him behind his back, but this has nothing to do with me. I note that you haven't commented on the violation of 3RR, is this not an admin matter? - Tbsdy (formerly Ta bu shi da yu) talk 10:01, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

Well, in my opinion, cursing in public in a website where children of all ages can read, is inappropriate and most of all immature.
YourBrain (talk) 20:49, 10 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thats your opinion and you're entitled to it, but its not going to cause me to change who I am. Knowing a few swear words as a child is not going to hurt, the only reason it even matters is because people like you make a big deal of out of it - they're just words, and any person using the internet is going to encounter "foul language" within a very short space of time--Jac16888Talk 20:55, 10 February 2010 (UTC)

{{cleanup-translation}} tag for Georg Hans Madelung
Hi Jac,
I must have misunderstood the tagging process for articles translated from other wikpedias (in this case, the German language WP) to en.wikipedia. I was actually looking for someone who can actually speak a word of German to review the en.wikipedia article with reference to the original de.wikipedia article. (My sincere apologies if you yourself are that person!)
I realise you are very busy, but your help and guidance would be very much appreciated.
--Shirt58 (talk) 11:18, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
ps: Ich bin ein Berliner
- I don't think there is a tag for something like that, I think your best option would be to approach someone at WP:Translation, the purpose of that tag is basically to tell people there are language issues left over from the translation, grammar/mistranslations etc. I will try and take a look at it tomorrow if I get chance, but my german is not fantasic, there are more fluent speakers around.--Jac16888Talk 11:31, 14 February 2010 (UTC)
- ps:
French rugby
"Are you intending to finish translating all those french articles you created?"
I don't know, are you? I've already translated sections of them (70%+ in some cases), and requested help in doing so, but it seems, as usual on Wikipedia, people are more willing to tell folk what to do, rather than doing anything themselves.
I have trouble with rugby jargon in French. We didn't exactly cover that in class for some reason. More small talk, ordering food and booking rooms. If you know where to get hold of such folk, can you tell them please.--MacRusgail (talk) 14:45, 15 February 2010 (UTC)
[edit to add]I see you have done some work on these. Thank you.
"However I just feel its a bit rude to create a lot of french articles, half translate them then leave the rest for someone else to do" - Not rude at all. Wikipedia is supposed to be a collaborative effort, not an individual one, so that people can use their different skills and talents. I have translated what I can, but rugby terminology doesn't appear in any dictionaries I can get hold of. The only way I've been able to get some of it is by flipping backwards and forwards between the two versions of Wikipedia which is very time consuming.
The articles were supposed to have "under construction" tags on them, but they keep getting removed. I can only do them piecemeal. I can guess the odd thing, such as "selection" = "cap" (selection) & "essai" = "try". I think it is better for the remaining information to appear in French than not at all.
You'll note that I haven't done this for that many rugby articles, except ones about French fatalities of the First World War.--MacRusgail (talk) 15:02, 15 February 2010 (UTC)

I hate to say it, but I'm AFRAID to edit some articles since he knows what articles I edit frequently(ones he doesn't edit). I started on this account editing articles he would never edit, then he found one of my edits and started with me again. I'm going to shut this account down thanks to him. Musgersyndrom
Hi, you deleted Musger syndrom. It appeared to be a hoax. A similar thing happened at nl.wikipedia. A "Strange cutter syndroom" was described. Since the references and sources could not be found the article was deleted as nonsense. The editor replied [4] that he is a medical student and that he wanted to see how long a nonsense article would survive in Wikipedia. Fortunately, it was only 3 days. At nl.wikipedia this user was called PeeHDee. Could you check wether the editor of Musger syndrom (or user PeeHDee) made any additional articles over here? If so, it's best to delete them as well. Two award articles
Hi, you deleted Singapore Hit Awards under CSD A10 because it duplicated Golden Melody Award, but how can that be? The former referred to an award that (presumably) is given in Singapore, and the latter is a Taiwan-based award. —Largo Plazo (talk) 11:46, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- The article made several references to Golden Melody Award, heading and such and many of the winners matched up, a google search suggests there is no singapore golden melody awards, but that they are included in the Taiwan one --Jac16888Talk 13:51, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- See http://translate.google.com/translate?js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=1&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.singaporehitawards.sg%2Findex.htm&sl=zh-CN&tl=en, a translation of http://www.singaporehitawards.sg/index.htm. "Golden Melody Award", same name (translation of 金曲奖), but in Singapore rather than Taiwan. Not sure about notability, though! Seems to be entirely associated with the YES radio station. But anyway, while I can't speak about whether the info in the article that was written was duplicative, at least, for our mutual information, the actual contest appears to be different from the one in Taiwan. —Largo Plazo (talk) 14:16, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

- Nah, I wouldn't worry about it under the circumstances because (a) notability might not be there anyway, and (b) I bet no one would get around to translating it in two weeks anyway. —Largo Plazo (talk) 14:45, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

User Ky2wang
Hi Jac16888,
You placed a level 4 warning on Ky2wang's page in relation to copyright violations: [5]. Just thought I should let you know that the user is continuing to create copyvio pages, but since ARV doesn't seem appropriate I'm unsure as to whether there's anything else for me to do. The material seems to have been borrowed from here: [6]. Mephistophelian (talk) 22:10, 13 March 2010 (UTC)
- Sigh, thought this guy had given up. I've deleted it again and given them one last warning, I suspect the problem here is that they probably don't know enough English to understand what they're being told. If they create it again I'll block. Thanks for the note--Jac16888Talk 22:20, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

Hello and thanks for cleaning up the machine translation I found there. I had hoped though that you'd have taken a look at the Spanish article as well, because there are the additional references you've been asking for and there is a sourced passage about the album cover and the band's logo which you deleted as OR in the English translation. So, as my Spanish is too bad for it can you please check the original version and have a look at the sources and stuff? De728631 (talk) 21:13, 14 March 2010 (UTC)

Restoration of potentially defamatory or poorly sourced material is strictly forbidden per the Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons policy. If any of the editors in question would be willing to pause to discuss this material before restoring it, we could probably have a civil dialogue; but policy is clear, and in my opinion rightly so, that it is not necessary to win consensus before removing dubious content from biographies of living persons. Please undelete Κίνηση Απελάστε το Ρατσισμό and rename it to "Deport Racism Organization".
Although it is in Greek, a quick Google translate shows that it is clearly not "A7: No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content".
An org that has been around since 2007 is likely to have RS available, with a bit of effort.
If this was about a USA org, would you have speedied it?
I was about to have a stab at starting a translation; there might be sources in Greek - I don't know, and maybe the PROD will work - but it's not CSD.

- I'm sorry if you took offense; I certainly didn't intend to sound snide. I just noted there were plenty of Google News hits, and thought it could be fixed up. Chzz ► 13:17, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Technology Cider Enquiry
Dear Jac,
I am writing regarding the deletion decision you made against the page I created about "Technology Cider". Technology Cider is an active official students' organisation at the British University in Egypt. Creating this page would help the students to share all their events, achievements, and news. Eventually, they may be recognised as one of the best/active students' group globally. This is the link of the group on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=115572015139178&ref=ts
I am hoping to reconsider your decision, or to advice further of how to get that page notably.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Many thanks, Heba Elshandidy — [Unsigned comment added by Heba elshandidi (talk • contribs).]
- Firstly there are millions and millions of student groups worldwide, we can't have an article on every single one based on the fact that they may one day be well known. Wikipedia articles are not for the sharing of events and news, if your group is notable enough for an article then that fact needs to be demonstrated in veriable reliable third party sources--Jac16888Talk 23:19, 24 April 2010 (UTC)
Template:The Big Bang Theory
Not sure if you have {{The Big Bang Theory}} on your watchlist, but a third opinion on what links should be in it would be appreciated. I think links to the individual seasons within the episode list are more useful than a single link to the episode list, while However whatever disagrees. --AussieLegend (talk) 06:31, 26 April 2010 (UTC)

hi.
can you please tell me WHY did you delete my page and all my HARD work???—Preceding unsigned comment added by Mistamidnight (talk • contribs) 04:08, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
- Because, as you have already been told, repeatedly, it did not demonstrate the notability of the subject through 3rd party reliable sources. Do you really think we're going to have an article for every teenager with a myspace page and a youtube channel? I suggest you come back when he has a record deal, released songs/albums and gone on tour--Jac16888Talk 03:13, 30 April 2010 (UTC)
Signatures
Why did you undo my signature on my article Jahanian Jahangasht?—Preceding unsigned comment added by Drwajih (talk • contribs) 08:33, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
- Did you bother to read the note I left on your talk page? That explained exactly why I did, here on Wikipedia we do not sign our contributions, they are kept in the history tab of the articles. Also you may want to see WP:OWN, it is not your article, it belongs to the community, and anyone can edit it if they wish--Jac16888Talk 11:08, 1 May 2010 (UTC)

Removal of PROD from Prekmurians
Hello Jac16888, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot to inform you the PROD template you added to Prekmurians has been removed. It was removed by Phil Bridger with the following edit summary '(contest deletion - this is, in fact, almost entirely intelligible, and was at the time that it was proposed for deletion)'. Please consider discussing your concerns with Phil Bridger before pursuing deletion further yourself. If you still think the article should be deleted after communicating with the 'dePRODer,' you may want to send the article to AfD for community discussion. Thank you, SDPatrolBot (talk) 09:47, 3 May 2010 (UTC) (Learn how to opt out of these messages) 09:47, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Hi Jac. I contested your PROD on this article on the fine point of law that BLP doesn't apply to a person who's been dead for 30 years. There may well be reason to request deletion based on lack of notability, though. Favonian (talk) 17:01, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Why did you undo the edit that I made to .oz? I softly redirected the page because .oz may also refer to the abbreviation of Ounce. Sonic120 (talk) 03:35, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for bothering you...
...But I'm trying to pick your brain.
Here I trimmed Mino Argento's article; I tried to explain my action to him on his talk page, in Italian and in English.
Without even bothering to acknowledge my message, he basically reverted my edit. What should I do? I fear that if I start reverting him, I'll find myself in an edit war... Salvio ( Let's talk 'bout it!) 18:47, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- I reverted back to your version, which was a significant improvement, and stuck a somewhat broad template on his page about NPOV, since the article was clearly biased. If they restore it again I'll consider a brief block to get his attention. Thanks for letting me know--Jac16888Talk 23:09, 4 May 2010 (UTC)
- First of all, thank you!
- Then, it seems our User:Mino Argento has a brother: User:Biography Art: I've reverted his edit, though. Salvio ( Let's talk 'bout it!) 11:55, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
- I saw that, guess a block won't help. If it continutes I'll consider protection, just anything to get this guy's attention, which is the real issue--Jac16888Talk 14:31, 5 May 2010 (UTC)
hi
why my article SI Labu was deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Freedattaq (talk • contribs) 00:34, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- It did not demonstrate the notability of the subject, and did not included any reliable references--Jac16888Talk 00:39, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
