Welcome

[edit]

Hello, JLM003 and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students. Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, if your class doesn't already have one.

Go through our online training for students.

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Helpme}} before the question.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and should be treated accordingly.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished!

Computer animation WP assignment

[edit]

Right, I hope this is the right place for this. Firstly, there are 2 citations needed on the Computer animation article. The first is related to this statement:

In theory, realistic computer animation can reach a point where it is indistinguishable from real action captured on film. Where computer animation achieves this level of realism, it may have major repercussions for the film industry.

and the second is for this:

The first feature-length computer animated film was the 1995 movie Toy Story by Pixar

The second citation doesn't look as if it would be too difficult to verify but the first may be. I'm not entirely sure it is true for starters but also have no idea where you could find the information for it, but I'll have a look around.

As well as that I think it would be beneficial to the article if we spoke, perhaps briefly, about some techniques used in computer animation. If you have a look on the talk page a few editors have spoken about adding something about how the armies were created in the The Lord of the Rings films, so I could talk about that or we could both perhaps talk about 2D computer animation as this has barely been mentioned. I'll ask on the talk page to see what they feel it needs specifically.

I also saw you posted on the talk page about writing about Movies, have you chosen which you'll be talking about as I could link my edit with yours and talk about techniques used in that movie in particular, though I aren't sure if that would fall under its own article. Do they generally go into detail on how movies are made in their own articles or are they used more so for the plot and actors used in the film? Jbaron88 (talk) 23:05, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

From what I have learned you always post on the bottom of the page! So it goes in order of what has been posted. I am currently working on my Wikipedia edit on Computer animation and have also looked at the citations and looked more in depth at the

The first feature-length computer animated film was the 1995 movie Toy Story by Pixar

, I think I have already got this covered as I couldn't get in touch with you.
Also, i have looked further into the the talk page and located areas that need to be written about within there own headers. so overall i have changed what i am going to edit within the article, as people have posted needs of information that would be beneficial within the article. --JLM003 (talk) 23:22, 12 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I did post at the bottom, I think it was only because I added a header that it formatted in the way it did. It would have been confusing otherwise. If you're doing that citation then I'll look into the other. Where have you looked to verify it? What part are you editing within the article? I don't want to edit the same bit as I think I could probably do something similar. I don't think what I'll be talking about will need its own header when I could just add to or edit another. Jbaron88 (talk) 00:02, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That's all ok then. I have looked at the primary source that is Pixar , I still have a lot of information to locate but it's all in hand. I will be available to help with anything to do with sourcing information for the first citation you posted as it maybe harder than the second. I have been looking into what other users would find useful and acceptable to add within the Computer animation article, as I think this could be more beneficial. I will contact you about further information tomorrow as it is a little late for me now. --JLM003 (talk) 00:13, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. I'm at work until 10pm tomorrow but I'll be on this and Facebook afterwards, I may also be able to do a bit of research there if it's quiet. I'll post in the talk page tomorrow too once I'm certain on what exactly I'll be talking about. Jbaron88 (talk) 00:21, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm working too, i will be accessing this at all available times over the next few days and will also post on talk pages etc. can you let me know what you are doing before you make it 'viral'. Thanks--JLM003 (talk) 00:25, 13 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
