ACC

[edit]

I mailed the admin's list almost 3 weeks ago, asking about my request sent in January. The status is still not clear to me - from my point of view there are still over 36 requests waiting and I'd be a good fit to chip away at a few, considering previous experience on newcomer assistance on IRC and onwiki. If you've discussed a specific concern regarding my request , I'd like to hear it. Thanks, NotAGenious (talk) 07:56, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, you're not the only one in this boat. We been bad at reviewing the new requests that we receive in a timely manner. I did a few of them around the time you posted here, but didn't get to yours yet. I'm about to be unavailable for a bit, but I'll nudge the team. — JJMC89 21:50, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks, looking forward to hearing from you. NotAGenious (talk) 11:23, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ShivangiEdits

ShivangiEdits requested an account to then spam? Polygnotus (talk) 10:40, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know how WP:ACC works but I request that they stop having an account. Polygnotus (talk) 10:41, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, we can't take the account away from them. They can be blocked like any other user if they continue. — JJMC89 21:25, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Vanished user continues to edit as an IP

[edit]

Hello JJMC89. Please see this edit in which 141.196.59.102 (talk · contribs) leaves some comments on a talk page and admits he is User:Necatorina. Are you the admin who helped with the vanishing of Necatorina on 5 October? If so how can we persuade the editor that vanishing means no more edits? Presumably there is no barrier to unvanishing in their case, they just have to make up their mind one way or the other. EdJohnston (talk) 03:47, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Ed. I did vanish Necatorina at their request. I left a message on their talk page. Unvanishing them isn't ideal given their reason for requesting it, but I will if they continue editing. — JJMC89 21:43, 20 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, @JJMC89. Could you kindly advise about the topic raised in this Teahouse thread? Many thanks for your time & attention, & kind regards. —Protalina (talk) 11:10, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, @JJMC89. Could you kindly look into the Miami University navbox to see if its logo matches the standards you cited for removing the Ohio University navbox logo? Thanks for your time & equal attention to university pages. Sapienna (talk) 04:08, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sapienna. I'm not JJMC89, but the file that was removed from the Ohio University navbox is licensed as non-free content, whereas the file being used in the Miami University navbox is licensed as public domain; so, even though they're both logo files so to speak, they're not subject to the same Wikipedia policies due to their difference in licensing. Simple text or wordmark logos, for reference, are generally considered to be too simple to be eligible under copyright protection under US copyright law; therefore, there are less restrictions placed upon their use on Wikipedia pages. If you would like to use a logo file in the Ohio University navbox, you can use something like File:Ohio Bobcats wordmark.svg instead since it too is too simple to be treated as non-free content. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:00, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team
